Thanks for all the kind comments so far - my right leg has been feeling it a bit today! Organising the sale of this machine is underway and I will leave details here once it is all finalized. It will hopefully be auctioned in the near future.
about 1978 i wanted a ride to work bike i paid sixty pounds for a well worn CD175 . things went very well untill i went to the motorbike show in London .i came home with a very nice two into one exhaust .fitted it to the bike .and to be honest the bike spoilt the very nice exhaust .a strip down began .painting the tank and muguards etc . then the frame . my brother gave me a five speed CB 175 missing its cylinder head .but the CD head fitted straight on .the CB engine was 12 volt so all the bulbs needed changed . the bike was taking shape so two new rain cheater tyres went on .the bike looked and ran lovely .far too good to ride to work .so a search was made for a ride to work bike . the saga began again .
Sorry for the delayed comment, I just found your brilliant videos Mr Henshaw. Well done for making such a generous gesture and much strength to your right leg!
My first bike as a 16 year old was a Cd 175 field bike I wish I had the space for it.👍👍well done Paul for getting it running, you've earned a few pints after all the effort kick starting it 😃.
Nearly bought one of these brand new back in the day ( 1970’s). around £300 OTR if I remember . Great little project for somebody & a very good cause . Nice one Paul I am glad it was you kicking it over ,I suffer with COPD & would of been collapsed on the deck gasping my last breath .👍
Excellent idea Paul. My first bike was a red L-reg CD175. It was a reliable little bike and was even went OK two up. A few things I remember about it: On a cold morning, it would start on full choke but wouldn't run on it, I had to decrease it to about half choke to move away then turn the choke off completely after doing about a quarter mile. It had a mild tendency to "white line" on road markings but that might have been the Yokohama tyres. The only "problems" I remember having with it were minor and weren't all it's fault: I had to replace a cracked number plate, the baffles fell out of one side of the exhaust (I replaced both sides with Honda originals and the engine really perked up), the previous owner caused an oil leak by putting the drive side cover back on with a new gasket but failing to clean off all of the old gasket (a 5 minute fix) and it didn't like to run with the fuel tank less than about one third full because of the height of the fuel tap entry hole inside the tank (maybe it wasn't original). I sold the bike to a neighbour around 1978, when I passed my test and bought a Triumph 3TA. It was a very good first bike and owed me nothing.
I've just remembered that the centre stand also became very stiff because I hadn't lubricated it. I then bent it when putting the bike on the stand, couldn't afford to replace it so I sawed it off.🤥
Had a tired one as a winter bike years ago. Every Sunday ritual. Wipe over with oil. Clean the points and set the dwell. Happy memories of blue tarps trying to stay dry.👍
Great idea and very laudable. Sweet little engine. My mate used to ride one from Cambridge to Reading University every weekend to see his girlfriend. Bike never let him down and he married the girl!
Don’t you just love it when it gives you hope when first starts X 4 fires then plop giving you faith, next time she’ll go, nope, the next one. Brilliant idea for Ukrainian people and a good project for someone. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very generous of you Paul and a good cause for sure. We are all doing whatever we can to support the people of Ukraine. Best of luck with the auction. Nice little bike with potential. Cheers, Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦
well done Paul, I hope you can raise a decent amount from this, and I'm glad the auctioneers will waive fees, my work mate years ago bought a CD 175 as a winter ride, but he spent most of the time in my garage through the winter trying to get it/keep it running......... he finally did and promptly wrote it off ....... as to the dislikers..........🤬
My first bike was a cd175 back in 79. Many happy memories of 100% reliable miles until the regulator gave up 4 miles after passing my test 😳, luck was on my side.
My second bike was a brand new CD175 in 1976. Surprising capable little bike in its day. Did you have a look inside the bores? How about the points? Compression test? Sounds to be low on compression and one cylinder firing. If there’s been damp in the bores there could be rust. You stand a huge risk of damaging the pistons and rings.
Nice one Paul, I reckon this is a great thing to be doing to help the people of Ukraine. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 On a side note, I've seen you kick over so many bikes on UA-cam that I reckon your right leg must be bigger than Popeye's forearm. Half a dozen kicks and I'd be done...
For those who have asked, when I have things in order and know for certain, I will update with details of how and where it will be sold. Thanks for all the interest so far!
Had two of these in the 80s both blue, both slow - 4 speed, continually changing between 3rd & 4th running up Dewsbury Road from Cherwell,.Marvelous. Who is the Auctioneer?
I love your videos Paul but it would be good if you could improve the sound especially as you move away from the camera or when you are on your test rides.
I probably shouldn't write this, but... The US has given them about 100 Billion dollars. The few grand that bike will fetch would be better spent on the UK minors who were victims of assault or people finding it hard to heat their homes this winter. I applaud your generosity, but I think you could easily find someone locally that could put the funds to good use. At least then you'll be 100% sure the funds are actually getting to the people who need it. My 2 cents.
I wanted to help those I chose to help, while also feeling I have done a tiny something that goes against putin [small 'p' deliberate]. Others joined in with contributions, I did what I wanted to do.
@@paulhenshaw4514 I meant no disrespect or offense. Your generosity is to be praised. It's your property/money and you can do with it whatever you want. I've been taken advantage of with charity in the past. Bad people take advantage of a crisis and I hope your funds found its way to the people who needed it most. Have a great day.
I know what I want to do with the money, thanks. You can feel free to try to raise money for what you consider to be 'better causes', though - don't let me stop you.
The people of Donbas killed over the past 8 years. Probably not. No one was told about those atrocities, just the official narrative pushed by the mainstream media on behalf of the banks and WEF. Peace

When I have a difficult starter, I say "I'm making sure the oil get's around"😁. Congratulations for a great idea for a good cause. 👍

I thought the sweatshirt was about to come off. It deserves to return your contribution a few times over. Well done in so many ways.
Well done sir! A very worthy cause indeed.

What a kind thing to do, well done Paul. l hope you won't need a knee replacement after all the effort spent trying to start it!!
Good on yer Paul!
Great idea Paul.
Patience of a saint. Bet your leg was tired after all that kicking. Sounded good when running. All for a good cause.

Good on you, will be a great little project for someone
Considering everything the motor sounds pretty smooth.
Well done Paul
I was willing that little honda to start
Great little bike for someone to play with and once it was on both cylinders it sounded good
Will make a grand little bike that will..
I do love a kickstart bike for the human /mechanical connection it creates.
Good idea Paul......this situation in Ukraine is revolting...
I have friends there.
Cheers from Anglesey....

The engine very definitely needs a full strip and rebuild, with little compression on the left and it would be wise to check everything in the engine.
Good onya mate.

Will, I understand and no offence has been taken, thank you.
What a hard birth feeling you effort
Wow, three dislikes already, according to my channel stats, so that must be my serial disliker, plus Putin, perhaps and someone else at a guess😆
You might want to rethink where the money is intended to go ...probably better causes in Britain ,,,,

poor humour
