I have an A1 card in one of my SBCs I use on occasion and it runs a bit warm. I'd imagine SD Express controllers run even hotter.
I wonder if anyone has characterised the thermals on Samsung PM991 NVME modules. The PM991 is an MCM which contains an NVMe 3.0 controller with a small amount of SRAM cache and flash memory in one package.

They make both dual NVMe and dual SATA models. Albeit without SD Express.
