  • 🚨SPOILER WARNING for All Of John Singleton's Filmography🚨
(Boyz N The Hood, Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Rosewood, Shaft, Baby Boy, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Hustle & Flow, Four Brothers, Abduction, and Snowfall)
Following the meteoric success of his directorial debut film, "Boyz N The Hood", John Singleton had the cache to make just about whatever kind of project he wanted, but he chose to keep the focus of his work on the varying Black experience in America, and offered both critique of and insight to the culture and intricacies of that very experience.
He made a name for himself by telling these stories and inspired a generation of creatives to tell stories of their own. In this video, we take a look at his work and how they ultimately contributed to his lasting legacy.
Til next time... y'all be easy ✌

    A Few Notes:
    - If I sound out of breath or nasaly, I was just getting over being sick during most of the recording for this video, so bare with me.
-I am TERRIBLE with the pronunciation of people's names and I know I messed up a couple so there's no need to yell at me in the comments about it, I tried lol
-Also I got a lot of conflicting information on whether John Singleton had 4 kids or 7, but I went with 7 because that number popped up more frequently in my research.
-I know John Singleton also produced other films like Illegal Tender and Black Snake Moan, but they weren't that good and also weren't his original vision so they didn't warrant a mention from my perspective.
-This video was made before the Snowfall ending.

Singleton did what the Huges Bros can never do...i makes original stories & kills it wit the acting & soundtracks even tho the Huges Bros got fun movies & amazing soundtracks , they just ain't original in their writing or they're ideas

Well I honestly don't usually comment on things I feel are negative but considering how much I feel and agree with you that John Singleton is one of the most influential writer's and directors ever to do it, I mean he is a Legend, Icon, and his work will live and be taught forever I'm going to ask you.
I see that you haven't posted in awhile so clearly I am late to the party but I am confused and by you. You say he was an influence of yours yet you gave negative reviews for majority of his work. Don't get me wrong your opinion is yours but how are you inspired by this man this incredibly talented creative if you don't like majority of his work, I'm confused I had to go back and make sure I heard you correctly when you added yourself as someone who was inspired by him. Really? I didn't get that from your video. And respectfully again you can have your opinion but it seems like you only really liked 2 or 3 films maybe it's your knowledge of why he made some of the movies but you should look for interviews for the movies that you don't understand. No one is perfect you can't always get it right but that's not the purpose. The purpose is you have a story that you want to tell and you have the courage to tell it. But I would like to know is it that you didn't understand some of the movies or it's just that you are a fan of just a few of his movies. I guess I'm trying to figure out if you were giving honor to John Singleton's work or were you just simply doing your own personal review of his career? Maybe I just didn't understand your video.
Nonetheless, R.I.P to the Icon, the Legend John Singleton. Thank you for showing, paving the way, and having the courage to tell your stories that change the world and that have/will inspire generations to go out and do the same. God Bless 🙏🏾❤😊
