It's so ironic that African Americans played a HUGE, HUGE part in creating rock n roll...it came from the blues so many played. We lost a lot of great rock songs that would have been written by African American artists if they played a larger part in rock through the decades. Come back!!
“Desert Moon”, “Once Bitten Twice Shy”, “Save All Your Love”, “Mista Bone”, “Can’t Shake It”, “Congo Square” and “Lady Red Light”…just to name a handful of great Great White songs💜🤘🏻
Of course, Desert Moon was the song they started playing just as the tragic fire broke out at The Station nightclub. For years afterwards, they refused to play that song in concert out of respect.
I've been a studio/session musician for a long time and play this song at least once a week during warm up. When this album came out I immediately had to learn this and, even after playing it hundreds (or more) of times, I still love it. Such a slow burner. Cheers from elsewhere in Florida, guys.
I wanted to cover this song in a band once but we didn't have what we needed to keep the song full. There's a lot of effects in this one. The greatest honesty though, I couldn't hold that bass line, that long, that clean! I got to meet "Teddy" when he came on board and once we started talking shop, he had to ask me how Rock Me sounded. I just returned the question. "Why? Did somebody say something?" He said no, but that he had struggled to get the meter right. I'm a finger player, as was Ted, but my fingers always found a way to be a tick off every 3rd or 4th measure. I've always loved Mark Kendall's work. To hear your appreciation for him does the heart good because NO ONE talks about him in those "greatest guitar player" conversations. He's got the BEST feel!
Brad, just listen to the music and enjoy! There are NO rules to music, generally speaking, so just try to get into the beat and don’t try to figure everything out or you’ll just miss out listening and enjoying in the meantime. Love ya brother!
Finally!! I knew Lex would love this song. This band was greatly underrated. Many great songs, House of Broken Love, Face the Day, Save Your Love, Lady Red Light, Love Is a Lie, Old Rose Motel ✌️ 🎸🎼🎶
@James Young And 20k points for you for you for that observation! :) All Over Now is a great song as well, also Call It Rock and Roll, Desert Moon, Mista Bone and all the Zep covers, ✌️

In this episode of Brad & Lex, the bluesy bass and guitars are the grand opening until the unexpected harmonica scores an "ooh" from Lex slightly jarring Brad who's look means everything. "Where is this going?", he asked anxiously more forcefully each time until Jack Russell's sultry vocals eases the tension but continues to test Brad's patience until the introduction of drum kicks, snares and a strong hearty chorus medicate him which produces a "side to side sway". These guys were involved in a huge tragedy, when I was a fireman we reviewed a Great White concert they preformed at a small bar in R.I. pyrotechnics were set off and it set off a massive fast moving fire . Some people didn’t seem to take it serious for a few minutes and then massive hysteria broke out , people running everywhere trying to escape through thick smoke. Unfortunately 100 died and 200 were injured in the blaze and if I recall right one of the band members died also. I’m sure this event will haunt this band forever.
The Station club was totally engulfed within 90 seconds. People stood in shock for 30 seconds before trying to escape. Once they did try, the bottleneck at the narrow exit caused most to perish. Those that survived reacted immediately. I've seen the videos from that night and the victims screams are horrifying. I've been to a few concerts at that club and never thought about the possibility of it happening. Then again, none of the shows I saw there had pyrotechnics. Rest in peace to all the victims.

This is one of the most perfectly constructed songs of all time. Listening to it is like riding a wave. It should be considered one of the best rock songs in history, right up there with Stairway to Heaven, Hotel California and Free Bird. Tremendous tune.
"Lady Red Light" is my favorite song from Great White. I saw them years ago opening for Judas Priest. That was a couple of decades before the horrible fire tragedy that killed the incredible guitarist that gave them that bluesy feel on most of their songs.
The guitarist who died wasnt from the older line ups. Ty Longley was only in the band a few years before his passing. Mark Kendall is the main guitarist for most of their run. Weirdly there were sort of two Great White's for a bit. The fire was down to appalling safety standards and some very poor decisions on the part of the venue and the bands then manager. The band themselves were not to blame.
I just saw Great White for the first time in concert with Jack Russell a couple weeks ago. Rockin' venue, "Once Bitten Twice Shy was prbly their biggest hit although "Step On You" is a personal fav
Since Brad doesn't seem to have much patience for the intro, I wouldn't advise him to listen to the album version of "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by The Temptations. I think it goes on for around 4 minutes before any vocals show up. I guess songs that are over 15 minutes long are out too, lol.
Been watching you for over a year . My dad was a country music producer, mom was a disco queen, sister was a metal head and I grew up in the skating ring. There's great artists in every category. So keep expanding and exploring. Love your reactions.
This is a very under rated band, they have great songs and are great musicians. You should check out House of Broken love, great Blues Rock song with outstanding guitar work. Hope you check out more of their stuff. Another good one is Face the Day or Save your Love great ballad.
Cheers Brad and Lex. I have watched your reactions many times and have loved all...however quietly waited for this lol....love the way you both feel about it!!....Great White was hugely underrated back in the day!
EVERYTHING you guys cover...hard to pop reminds me of my life...what you guys do makes me feel like your sharing a little piece of my life but through new eyes and a fresh perspective that I may not have noticed before...THANK YOU
I first heard this song in the summer of 1987. I had just graduated and was hanging out with my best friend and bandmate drummer. We were cruising in my 1972 Chevelle and it came on the local rock radio station. It was sooo bluesy but had the edge to it. I had known of the band since about 1983 and you'd probably also enjoy "Face the Day" it has a similar vibe. Great White had their share of hits but a bit underrated for their time.
Brad is the kind of guy I'd love to go have a beer with. We would be able to talk about anything........except music. 😆😉 Sports, politics, life, fishing, girls....anything except music.
I loved the multigenerational comment. This is a blues shuffle. The best most relatable music over the last 70years or so. Always blues based. Love y’all’s videos.
"House Of Broken Love" & "Old Rose Motel" are a few other Great White classics you really should react to... Oh and also, which is one of my favorites by them is "Afterglow", just a real feel good song!!
Brad, brother, RELAX Man. You don't have to know everything immediately, music is meant to be experienced not analyzed to the nth degree. Just let the music come to you.
I honestly don't know how he enjoys any music. He just analyzes lyrics, wants to know exactly what they mean, and doesn't seem to feel the music at all.
It's no use, most of their reactions he looks like a hostage. He reminds me of some people I know who don't care that much about music. You see them at parties, the only people not tapping their foot to the beat, and you never heard a song that got them fired up.
@@stevedem76 LOL, you're right, a lot of times he does look like a hostage. It almost looks like he despises most of this music, which is the polar opposite to the delight that Lex gets from listening to the music. I think he just likes his rap, with the same exact drum machine beat and the occasional stolen Rock riff.
Well let me 1st say , I'm posting this but this is my husbands acct. Just had to say though...I absolutely LOVE the fact y'all have this channel! Wore a "Wasted Rock Ranger" shirt on my 18th birthday! Was on thanksgiving 1989... in the family home videos at least until I bailed to go party. Great White was a staple in late 80's. Awesome band! KILLER bass groove band.
Saw this group 2 years in a row at a club(Attic) in Greenville, NC in early 90's. The last time club was overcapacity and full fire Brigade was in club with exits opened and fire trucks outside.Second show had Bobby Blotzer(Ratt) on drums. 🤘
They have many "Great" songs you should check out. Great White's blues influence is one of the many reasons why they are one of my favourite bands. Other great bluesy songs of theirs are House of Broken Love and Mista Bones. Others to check out are Sail Away, Old Rose Motel, Face The Day, Call It Rock N Roll and Rollin' Stoned. Watching your reactions makes me think that you guys would be a lot of fun to go to a concert like Great White's with.
Side note... Dethklok is a must for Lex! Sounds like you guys are looking for something heavier. Awaken or Go Forth and Die are awesome song choices. Just remember, it's a cartoon!
In all honesty....I am 56.... these are all the songs from my youth.....To see Lexi enjoy it so much is satisfying.....Brad is cool.... I really like this channel.. All good vibes.....I wish we could all get along like this..
I love that y'all liked this. ♥ The structure of the music is indeed art. The bass lines, harmonica, guitar breaks, and vocals push this song towards the top-o-my list of 80s classic rock songs. ☺
So much tragedy connected to this band, unfortunately. Huge fire broke out at one of their shows and killed a whole bunch of people. So sad. Another good song is Don't Close Your Eyes.
Great White is one of those bands that just puts you right back into the 80s. It’s a shame more people don’t know about them. Their music was extremely popular.
For what it's worth, Great White was one of those 1980's bands that I got really sick of. I used to refer to the music they put out for pop audiences as "formula rock" performed by Hair Bands. Always the power chords to qualify them as 'hard rock' but with a singing style that has always turned me off for some reason (I was surprised to see an interview recently where I heard Robert Plant also call it "formula rock", lol!) There were a few exceptions here and there during the 1980's but I basically suffered through the 1980's musically until first Metallica and then Grunge appeared to save the day. I actually liked some of the "Techno-pop" (The Cure, Depeche Mode) that the 1980's produced more than the Formula Rock that was forced down our throats. That's one guy's opinion...
Great bluesy rock song. Good band. Please do some dokken. One of the best 80s hard rock bands. Lots of great songs to choose from. Tooth and nail, under lock and key and back for the attack are classic albums. Here are some suggestions: just got lucky, into the fire, unchain the night, the hunter, in my dreams, jaded heart, heaven sent, kiss of death. So many to choose from. Lex will love george lynch. An incredible guitar player. One of the best of his generation.
Love the commentary.. Brad said "Blues Rock" and you are right that Great White is that.. and Lex always gets the vibe of a song so well.. I recommend you listen to "Call it Rock N' Roll" by this band..
Wow. Whenever this song ended its initial run on radio, MTV, etc., was the last time I heard it. Up until the chorus, I didn't remember the song but I recognized the voice. Then the chorus and then it hit me. That one has definitely been pulled out of the ole brain archive.
I'm convinced Lex is a reincarnated 80s metal head! 😆

Over 100 people killed in the Station Fire in Rhode Island very sad.
@@johneppo4133 I almost went to that show but had to work. Reading a book now about the details of the fire. R.I.P. to the 100 victims.
I saw them in 1988 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, MD as part of the "White Concert", White Lion, Whitesnake, and Great White.
Honestly, "House of Broken love" is thier killer track.
You guys should react to…
Great White - Save Your Love
🎸🤘
EVERYTHING you guys cover...hard to pop reminds me of my life...what you guys do makes me feel like your sharing a little piece of my life but through new eyes and a fresh perspective that I may not have noticed before...THANK YOU
House of broken love a must-have 🤙
That’s the first thing I thought of. It’s so great. Both would love it.
Check out Once Bitten, Twice Shy by them and a really fun song.
Brad is the kind of guy I'd love to go have a beer with.
We would be able to talk about anything........except music. 😆😉
Sports, politics, life, fishing, girls....anything except music.
Jack Russell can definitely sing, has a great voice! And Mark Kendall is a phenomenal guitarist!!!
Hell yes, finally got to Great White! Save all your love is an excellent and powerful ballad! Thanks Lex and Brad...keep it up!
These were killer in concert!!!!!🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘
I loved the multigenerational comment. This is a blues shuffle. The best most relatable music over the last 70years or so. Always blues based. Love y’all’s videos.
"House Of Broken Love" & "Old Rose Motel" are a few other Great White classics you really should react to... Oh and also, which is one of my favorites by them is "Afterglow", just a real feel good song!!
Yes!!!!
Just saw them play in Northern New Mexico last Saturday. Lita Ford opened up for them. Was a great concert. Had lots of fun
@@empyrealone and Lex is just the opposite, she feels music as it was meant to be felt.
@@neillenet291 she's what I watch their reactions for. She's a joy to watch.
"The Angel Song" and "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" are my favorite songs by them
Great white has an album that is all led Zeppelin covers
Well let me 1st say , I'm posting this but this is my husbands acct. Just had to say though...I absolutely LOVE the fact y'all have this channel! You actually restore my faith in the human spirit that ya'll are open minded enough to try ALL genres of music. I am a 62 year old woman ( with a beige/caucasion skin) though my spirit has no particular color. Classic rock is my go to but also love Rhianna, Tupac, Bryson Gray, & of course some country like Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, Well you get it..little of everything. You are an amazing duo & you tear down so many stereotypes that just want say..Do what you love & the money will follow! Peace Y'all!!
This tune‘s always been a cranker!
Wore a "Wasted Rock Ranger" shirt on my 18th birthday! Was on thanksgiving 1989... in the family home videos at least until I bailed to go party. Great White was a staple in late 80's. Awesome band! KILLER bass groove band.
Have the same shirt. And last June got new version lol
You should also listen to their Led Zepplin covers. They kill it. They started as a Zepplin cover band.
There just a cover band..WHO SUCKS
@@joshmalcom89 the only thing that sucks is your comment
Better than alot of bands throut time bit still suck kinda
Try Zebra if you like Led Zeppelin covers.
Saw this group 2 years in a row at a club(Attic) in Greenville, NC in early 90's. The last time club was overcapacity and full fire Brigade was in club with exits opened and fire trucks outside.Second show had Bobby Blotzer(Ratt) on drums. 🤘
Call it Rock n Roll my favorite Great White song
They have many "Great" songs you should check out. Great White's blues influence is one of the many reasons why they are one of my favourite bands. Other great bluesy songs of theirs are House of Broken Love and Mista Bones. Others to check out are Sail Away, Old Rose Motel, Face The Day, Call It Rock N Roll and Rollin' Stoned. Watching your reactions makes me think that you guys would be a lot of fun to go to a concert like Great White's with.
Damn, Brad's a bit impatient in this video! Did someone lace his Cheerios with cocaine?
Meanwhile, Lex is over there doing her thing and jamming out!
I love how one of you is more lyrically oriented and the other more musically oriented. You two are great! Always enjoy your reactions.
house of broken love is another great song by them use the album version the live ones seem to really suck due to limitation of the tech at the time.😁
Rock will always be my favorite of all types of music . Great one !
Side note... Dethklok is a must for Lex! Sounds like you guys are looking for something heavier. Awaken or Go Forth and Die are awesome song choices. Just remember, it's a cartoon!
Probably the best metal parody since Spinal Tap.
Go into the Water is one of the most epic songs of theirs :D
In all honesty....I am 56.... these are all the songs from my youth.....To see Lexi enjoy it so much is satisfying.....Brad is cool.... I really like this channel.. All good vibes.....I wish we could all get along like this..
The manager was told not to use pyro but the manager ignored the rules unfortunately
Soooooo underrated! love your reaction, thanks for sharing.
When I suggested this song a few months back, I knew Lex was gonna love it! Now dig out Gary Moore's Still Got The Blues!
Great White has always been one of my favorite bands from the 80s and early 90s. Very under rated.
Next you gotta do “Slide it in” or “In the still of the night”by Whitesnake 🥁🎸🔥💣
As much as I adore Zeppelin, Still Of The Night is a awesome piece of music and sexy as f*ck!
Or "Slow n Easy"!
@@centuryrox
Absolutely!!!
Satin sheet action indeed!!!😆😆😆
They've already done Still of the night
That may be the best reaction i've seen from y'all. Thanks for what you do.
Lex tell us how you really feel!😁 Great review of a great song!
Lex has a hippie IV of rock and roll running through her veins. Groovy
Calm down Brad and listen to the song 🎸
I love that y'all liked this. ♥ The structure of the music is indeed art. The bass lines, harmonica, guitar breaks, and vocals push this song towards the top-o-my list of 80s classic rock songs. ☺
You can't do Great White without checking out "House of Broken Love"
Wife here..Bobby Brown...Video Vixen..Was in this video!
Jammed to this song when it came out, and I’ll jam to it now. Great tune.
So much tragedy connected to this band, unfortunately. Huge fire broke out at one of their shows and killed a whole bunch of people. So sad. Another good song is Don't Close Your Eyes.
Yes. "Killer Show" is a great read about that horrible fire that broke out at their show.
Don't Close Your Eyes is my favorite Kix song
100 lives lost
That's one guy's opinion...
you guys are such a trip.. love how Lex really gets into it.
One of my favorite guitar solos of all time
One of the best things about this couple is they are still learning each other... That is sooo fun!🤣
Love me some Great White!!! Very underrated. I was pulled out of the audience on 2 different occasions, probably 20 years apart to sing with Jack!
After introducing the band, The Man said, "If you don't know me, you don't know JACK"!!
One of my all time favorite songs, man it takes me back
Saw them live during the Great White/ Whitesnake tour... awesome show beginning to end
"Whisper Rock", LOL, that one made me laugh out loud and shoot milk out of my nose! Hilarious!! I'm only kidding about the milk. 🥛 😁
LOVE this groove!!!! Always have!! And always will-💖💙🤘🏼
One of the criminally underated bands.... good reaction!
I've been waiting for you to discover Great White! So many great great songs!
