I had a Border Terrier for nearly 16 years... they are an amazing breed and highly recommend them. Wonderful family dog... great with children; happy as long as they are with people, either inside a home or outside.
@@nevergiveupnevergivein7655 well, my border is actually 9/10 ATLEAST on friendliness most likely 10/10. Borders are cute, cuddly, energetic, easily trained, and a very high jumper. If your gonna get a dog their is nothing better than a border terrier!
I have two now (ages 5 and 6 years). Had two before that lived long and happy lives One was a certified visiting dog to nursing homes etc.. I LOVE them! They are devoted to the their family and love people.!
We have a wonderful borderterrier girl. A don't agree in all points. But it is a lovely video and it is fun to watch. Borderterriers are so funny and very very lovely and cute. I'm so glad, we have our Lucie in our life. 🐶❤
I think this is pretty accurate, I think the scores give the wrong message though. For instance they are very trainable, but as soon as a small animal runs by, then all that training goes out the window, so I can see how it would seem 50/50. My BT is 100% except when he's not (squirrel!) They also are more complicated to groom than a lot of other breeds, but when he has been stripped then the maintenance is like zero (until the next strip) I have also never met a better smelling dog, it's amazing his coat is almost self cleaning. He is incredibly affectionate with his people, but strangers are practically invisible= mean score 50/50
But you don’t know the situation, they may come from completely separate litters......... and may have just been purchased directly from a breeder........
Easy to groom. Hardy stomachs so easy to feed. High energy needs lots of walks. Does well with rules and routines. Needs to know who is boss but will be obedient once you’ve established authority. High prey drive so not good with cats and will disappear into bushes in pursuit of squirrels etc. Tendency to nip when excited so not good for family with small kids but older kids should be ok. Very cute scruffy dog look, loves to snuggle and has good skills at making you feel guilty for not sharing food. Not a beginner dog but a good dog all the same.
I rescued my border terrier in the beginning of 2006 and I’m sad to say I have to put him to sleep in July 2020. He was already about a year old when I rescued him , he was the best dog I’ve ever had . If anyone knows where I can find another border terrier let me know. I can’t find that breed anywhere in California. I would highly recommend this breed to anyone.

In terms of separation, they are very good at being left alone - meaning if you spend most of your time with them they won’t get too stressed out if you leave them for a day, so they are very good if you suffer with separation anxiety. They do love company, and are a great dog. (They’re also virtually tireless). I have one myself (Meg) and she’s gorgeous. I’d recommend them to anyone who’s willing to walk the shit out of them often 👍💓

Why would you claim they have a low prey drive when they are bred to flush out foxes... many websites also say they are not good with cats , bunnies etc... which makes this review with lack of a better word.... crap.

Oh boy.... I’m sorry about that comment! Wasn’t thinking clearly last night..... I think what I was commenting on was the fact that I’ve read that you shouldn’t reallly have cats if you get a Border Terrier. They say if you have already have a cat when you get a puppy it might be ok....but if you already have a Border Terrier and then bring a cat home...it might be very dangerous. 5 out of 10 seemed a bit off to me but I’m no expert. I really don’t like a lot of nasty comments people leave online and my previous comment bordered on that. Sorry about that.😞
No problems Krista ! You know those videos are non-commercial (I make no money at all from them), I edit them on my free time cause I love dogs. And I take all the datas from dogs authority websites, so when I read the word "crap" last night, it hurted a bit ;-) And yes, that's the problem with ratings : if you already have a cat when you get a puppy, that will be 7/10, but a 3/10 if you already have a Border Terrier and then bring a cat home. So average is 5/10. It's not perfect but it gives an idea, at least I hope so!
Had this breed since 1950’s . Your scoring is quite frankly rubbish! You do not know this breed ….. ignore the scores they are total nonsense. Drooling ??? Never happens!!! Bathing …. I currently have a 6 year old who has never been bathed as did the 5 other Borders I’ve owned!!

Was responsible to take care of my deceased step dad's Border Terrier. Great dog and great breed. Pleasantly surprised.

Once my sister fell asleep during a conversation and my mom thought she was dead so she threw her off the bed. The bed is like 3 feet tall lol
