Man, Jamie loves talking and is SO knowledgeable about the builds. You can really hear the excitement coming through in his voice! I love anytime he has the stage
The cafe corner brought me out of my Lego dark age… I walked pass my local Lego store, saw it on the window and instantly fell in love. I was 24 and needed some convincing to spend that kind of money on a “toy” but it was just so beautiful that I caved in and bought it. So glad I did… With the exception of market street, I have every modular and it’s become a yearly tradition to head to the Lego store every January 1st for the new modular.
This guy pretty much is responsible for getting me into Lego and me dropping $$$ annually. He has definitely made Lego lots of money haha. His modular projects will always be the best but I love them all.
Thank you for uploading an HD version! This looks so much better and really does the content justice. LEGO Modular may be 15 years old but the video didn't need to look 15 years old. XD
I just got back into LEGO last year with the Treehouse set. Now I'm building Assembly Square and can't get enough of it! I love the modular buildings collection :) Thank you for showcasing it here. I just need either a full mini modular set to display, or a new real, non-LEGO house to store all these full-sized buildings in! lol
Credit to you Jamie and the rest of the team please keep up the hard work. These buildings are simply amazing. I’m lucky enough to have them all and they are my pride and joy.

I actually stumbled into the joy of the modular series this year. I went to my nearest Lego Store with the intent to by the BMW technic which I did. But when I saw the Bootique Hotel I knew I would have to go back for it at some point. After buying it and building it I saw an image showing how well it intergrated with the Bookshop and Police Station. So I had to get them also. Nearly a week ago I finished building the Sanctum Sanctorum. While it isn't part of the range, it gave me the same warm feelings that I felt when building the others. So thankyou for your efforts. It's much appreciated.
I loved the history lesson that went along with the detailed description of the entire lineup. I have them all except Market Street because I just don't like it enough to pay up on it. Thanks Jamie, you're a legend. I hope to one day design a modular product released to the public. It's a dream, but maybe one day....
Very new to Lego but I love the modulars. I'm currently doing Assembly square as my first modular build. I can't wait to be able to have enough experience to design my own buildings.
Thank you for a great presentation. I came out of my dark age right after the introduction of Cafe Corner, so it was a thrilling time for me. It directly inspired my first MOC which was extra important when you haven't really had a LEGO project since childhood.
My first modular building was the palace cinema, and its still one of my favorites today, im getting the grand emporium soon and i would love to get all of them one day, the modular buildings are my favorite types of lego sets
Thank you for a great presentation. I love the modular series, and hope it will stay around for a long time. Have most of the buildings, but not the oldest. My first was The Fire Brigade, and have all of the buildings that has been released after that.
This is one of the only Lego series I like. Star wars and Harry Potter I always feel like are incomplete because their missing entire walls which I know it’s supposed to be for play features but for me it’s unsatisfying. Plus their expensive… so when I got my first ever modular which was the assembly square I fell in love with it so hard because it felt complete and worth the money. Now I’m here with 6 Modular’s and an overstressed mother who’s worried on what I’ll do with it when I move to college XD
I never looked away from Lego, but I had some kind of dark ages. The cafe corner was the perfect excuse to come out of them forever. I have currently 8 cafe corners standing tall, but also double floored the Green grocer and the grand emporium. I still love them and the feel every year new to me, with great new building technology. In this video I only missed the story about the 1891/1981 from the town hall.
Hollo big lego collector here I always Wunder y not continuing with the mini modulars that u created in 2012 I still have it and waiting 10 years for more versions….. so sad u didn’t continue this
Bigger sets is bigger money, and I think the amount of design time going into a small build may be similar or even more than a big set - you need to be very creative (i.e. try a lot of stuff) to pull off a convincing mini/micro build. Look at Lego City cars; most are 6 studs wide because it is just so much easier to design them - even in the MOC community! There are a few designers (de_marco!) who can do 4 or 5 stud cars convincingly though.
So if the Factory (which Jaime says was early version of Ideas) then that means that Old Fishing Store is then a modular? Also in the new Bricklink series this means that officially the lego modular store is also a modular officially, and the Modular Construction Site... Thanks Jaime!
I consider GBHQ, Daily Bugle, and Bricklink lego store and construction site as part of the modular line, because they have the side walk and can be integrated. The venitian houses and bowling alley are up for debate to me. The ninjago city I consider seperate even though they technically can clip together with the modulars, I love the ninjago city sets hope to have additional ones than the 3 we already got, some of the most creative building techniques.
I love all these modular buildings. The cinema was my first and it holds a very special place in my heart but one of my favourite models that connects with the line is the Spring Lantern Festival set. It's just beautiful and connects so well next to the police station.
We don’t only remember you we miss you all!,, I was sure u r not working for lego any more because u disapeared u can tell the modulars are your baby!!!!
i only have one issue with the modulars. some of the older ones, like Green Grocer, contain pieces LEGO hasn't produced for many years, which makes it difficult to get an expensive set like Green Grocer cheaper because parting it out doesn't work too well. to me the sand green 1x2 bricks with the groove make it look fantastic. I hope LEGO puts the 1x2 brick with groove and 1x8 brick in sand green back into production. they could be cool for some future modulars and also helpful to make parting out Green Grocer much cheaper
Few years ago i got the downtown diner as a Christmas gift. I had trouble displaying it because it had such a bigger scale than the other buildings and city sets i had at the time…following year what i got was assembly square, corner garage, the bookshop, and the police station. And some socks. This year i now 16 got the jazzclub and natural history museum from my grandparents and aftermarket light kits for all the buildings from my family. Needless to say we overspent every year but its worth it, i even got rid of a lamp in my room because the modulars light it all up lol. Its definitely the centerpiece of my room and my favorite thing about it
As beautiful as the Bookshop is, one of the greatest features is that it's two completely separate builds in one set that can come apart and be rearranged with other modulars as you see fit. It's a shame they didn't follow this trend with the police station.
My first modular was the detectives office which I got in 2018 it immediately got me hooked on modulars and I had to get the perisan restaurant since in 2014 I had entered a lego club contest to actually win one did not win the contest so it was always on my wanted list since 2014 I finally got it in 2019 when I went to my closest mall which also happens to have my local lego store for a school trip my senior year of high school. Then in 2020 as a way to celebrate getting my first real job I saved up my money and got a palace cinema for my lego city off ebay which allowed me to have my 3 favorite modulars of all time in my lego city. Pet shop would had been a nice one but when it was out I was just starting to get into lego and was only 10 when it came out also hadn't even heard of the modulars at that point so unfortunately I missed out on it but I have since made a moc pet store for my lego city that follows the modulars only lacks the details also my pet store is a corner since I only have 3 ofical corner modulars. Palace cinema, corner garage and boutique hotel.
