St. Petersburg is today considered the cultural heart of modern day Russia. This original march from Johnnie Vinson is evocative of this city's rich and exciting history of intrigue, revolution and mystery. Expertly scored for young bands, this unique and fresh-sounding work paints a musical picture of frigid winters, magnificent castles and imposing cathedrals. A wonderful addition to the march repertoire for band.

Always been my favorite too
@@xxnoobxx1900 it gives me very much "assault ambush in a snowy field"
Draws strongly from 'Farewell to Slavianka'. Very nice march.
You are 100% correct. It also has some Korobeiniki(aka Tetris Theme)in it. Listen listen carefully to the notes towards the beginning
Played this in 8th grade for a band festival got first place two years in a row I miss this piece and more specifically, I miss the amazing trombone parts. All my Trombone homies out there!

Owen Kracke just get horn covers and masks for instruments
And flute attachments
I’ve never seen a piccolo in such a beginner song like this. Sounds cool
0:44 Sounds very close to Farewell Of Slavianka. As that we are playing this our 2022 Christmas Concert and the low brass is getting better every session, I can confirm it.
So nice to finally see a full score of this piece!
OMG
You need to hear that Tuba part IRL
it hits so different
frfrfr i play tuba, the intro is so fun to play and practice on
My high school band went to state large group with this piece a couple years back. What a wonderful reminder of when band was actually good.

I played this song when I went to Singapore for my competition. I was only 11 years old and I played Trumpet 1…
i started this in 7th grade (all online, no concert) and i get to play it this year for an actual concert. i play(ed) part 1 for this year and last year.
It’s not really fair to say this is an ‘original march’ by Johnnie Vinson when the tune has been around for years. He’s just arranged it!
played this at my fall concert 2 months ago (i was trumpet 2)
lightningmaster823 trumpet 2 ganggggg😂😂😂
About to play it next Tuesday as a 2 Trumpet :D
I played clarinet 1 lol
trumpet 1 gang
I can officially say that this song won us a state title and I loved every second of playing it if you would like me to post a link to my band playing that I'd be glad to do so

I really love measures 31 for the low voices. I always mess up in Band because I keep playing too loud but it’s not my fault. It’s such a good part to play.😂❤
I miss playing this!
Playing this this year for competition season as part of the alto saxophones!
I'm actually working on this March as one of my bands UIL pieces
i like the tempo and beat.
Ahhhhhhh 7th grade flashbacks
Ayo same
My band is doing this for our concert..
the 1 time 1st clarinet aren't the melody
Nice
My band director compared the low brass at 31 to that of the Russian military in world war 2 or something similar
mine did the same!! he basically said "low brass, play that music like you're a russian solider marching in into Berlin in 1945"
man, band is truly amazing- especially with the right band teacher
memeduplifeee yeah. Especially in times when the band family needs to come together and support each other.
@@chise_770 true!! its all about the family coming together, even in the worst of times. band i s the home away from home anyways
memeduplifeee our band program is really coming together right now as we just lost a member. It’s sad but also amazing to see how supportive everyone is and how we can always come together
@@chise_770 we lost a member too, so it seems like both of our bands are in the same boat. but, at least we're all doing our best!!
what's the name of your band, actually?? just curious!!
I'm flute
Currently, we're playing this peice, and it's amazing-
I was learning this bout a week ago lmao
@@idiot_tanker3586 Ah yes- Don't be shook when / if your band (if you're in one!) begins to just play this when it's free warm-up time.

Это не похоже на русский марш. Слышно что написал иностранец.
До соло басов ещё терпимо, хотя почему-то вспоминаются "Коробейники" (известные на Западе как музыка из "Тетриса").
I miss. 5th
No way you played this in 5th grade if you did WOW!
