What got me into bowling? My grandmother is who taught me when I was a young lad. I bowled in a few youth leagues for a few years, then had to stop due to financial reasons. 10 years pass, I'm I'm probably 19-20-ish, and a bunch of acquaintances and I go bowling. After that time, I went to buy a bowling ball, and haven't looked back since. My grandmother has since passed away, but any time I'm on the lanes, I thank her for sharing her love of the sport. Miss you grandma and thanks for teaching me a hobby I can do for my entire life. :)
my dad would take me to league with him in the 90s, I'd open bowl while he was in league. after a couple years i was averaging in the 190s and bowling in the adult leagues at 14.. (we didn't have much of a jr program in my area back then)
As someone with high functioning autism, the idea of perfection/repeativity has always been appealing to me. But I was told once that I started off at age 7 bowling for fun in a kids league throwing a house ball, and every time I went I would jump up and down and flap my hands. Then I got my first ball (tzone lol) that Christmas, and from there I was hooked. I'm going on 13 years bowling now
Used to think bowling is just a social sport until this one bowling alley i played had a few TVs showing pba tours and many different player/different styles. Ofc the one who caught my attention the most was jason belmonte as well. He won his third TOC title if im not mistaken that time. Started to bowl 2 handed but unfortunately i still suck at it now currently playing one handed and find it much more suitable for me😂. Just entered my first league tour this year as well. Still lots to learn
I grew up with wood lanes and rubber/plastic balls with overhead projectors/grease pencil for score keeping. I watched Don Johnson, Dick Weber and Billy Hardwick on our black & white TV. I started bowling with a rubber ball that didn’t hook much. I’ve been through all the changes and advancements in bowling through the years. I still love bowling.
I Got into bowling because my brother started bowling very early. I sometimes went to his morning league at TNC and wondered why he loves it so much. I tried it and joined the same league 2 years later. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!!
Got into bowling because of my lady. Nothing to do one day and she mentioned how her dad used to bowl when she was growing up and we went to the local alley. Two years later and it's still going.
Got into bowling because I wanted to achieve getting higher scores, watching the pros, understanding weight blocks and Coverstocks on balls and having some versatility between work as a baker and have more time to bowl.
My dad had always loved bowling, and I always thought of it as a "nerdy" sport, something that you do when you are simply incapable at being good at other sports, but one day my dad told me to try hooking it for more pins, and I shot 168, but lost by ten pins to my dad, I fell in love instantly, I loved how competitive it is, how much there is to know/ learn, and most of all I loved the feeling of a flush strike. It has been just over a year since then, and I have bought 6 balls, play 3-5 times a week, and quit my other sports to bowl year-round, absolutely no regrets!
Excellent information, lane shot and condition, ball information specs and surface, camera angles awesome, explanations of when to use and not to use, presentation and editing awesome. I know you asked about getting into bowling, but these are the reasons I watch your channel first. Different bowler types (2 hands and 1). I just wanted to say 10 out 10, keep up the awesome work JR team. Every video is top quality.
My Aunt bought me a special the pro shop had; entry ball, bag, and shoes. Did a summer league with her. This was 2 years and a few months ago. I averaged about 120-125 for that season, now I'm about 175 avg. My biggest problem is my swing and release for 2 handed. I'm 41 btw. The ball is Hyped Pearl, now I have 10 balls, DNA and Katana Strike are the asyms, Phaze II, Fate, Helios, Zen U, Hy-Road Gold, Hustle Wine, and White Dot. I'm in three leagues this year Mon, Tue, Wed.
Do a video with the venom shock against the tour dynamix. That would be an awesome video. I feel that the venom shock has the same kinda motion that the venom shock has and I would love to see the side by side
I got into bowling because I'm competitive and can no longer play or compete in the things I used to. Bowling has given me an avenue to compete but also to have a great time with my peers and forget about the real world for a few hours
I got into bowling because of my parents. My mom was pregnant with me and was bowling at that time. I'm the only sibling who bowls. Lastly later on I bowled league with my parents for about 5 seasons. That's how I got started and I still bowl to this day.
Way back in the day, my parents were in a bowling league in Michigan with our neighbors. I’d get dragged to the alley and just play arcade games or with my pogs (yes…those lol). At one point I broke my finger and had a cast on my off hand so I couldn’t play basketball for a bit and decided to try a bowling league since I didn’t need two hands. Then next thing I knew, I was bowling every weekend, in tournaments around the state until I burned out at 18.
the reason i got into bowling is Because one of my old friend that i dont talk to anymore signed us up for a leauge and i fell in love with bowling after the first week. and now i am anchor of my high school bowling team and wining tournaments
I got into bowling because of the same video from Dude Perfect! I was in my senior year of high school and just found Dude Perfect. I started off with one handed bowling but recently switch to two handed to step my game up!
I got into bowling because my company sponsors employees for a local bowling league. My wife eventually convinced me to join and she’s been regretting it since 😂 I started November 2021 but started taking it seriously March 2022

My girl got me into it when we started dating! Her family’s been bowling for like 10 years and I got hooked as soon as I joined them in league. Found out her ex was a decent bowler so I worked on my game and can proudly say I’m a better bowler than him 😂😂😂
My mom asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, I saw a flyer in our house for the local bowling alley, and I saw that games were $0.50 each. I liked it enough and it was cheap enough.
I got into bowling when I saw that the high school I go to had a bowling team. I thought that it would be something to keep me busy over the winter. Little did I know that I would really get into the sport. My freshman year, I bowled one handed. That summer after the season, I switched to bowling two-handed for my sophomore year. Then, I ended up placing 6th in my conference among seniors.
