I've been here twice with my buddy and we are relatively new to squid fishing. We did manage to get 5 squid our last outing and 6 the prior trip. Much to be learned indeed but it is a great time! Nothing beats fresh squid sashimi freshly caught!
I live here and the squid have been a foot to two feet off the bottom.. while on block island they are at the top and mid I believe it is the colder water on block island that brings them closer to surface..
@@bonaggiyour welcome .. sinker at end of line with the secondary line tied 2.5 feet from sinker with about 2.5 feet length to squid rig should be golden.. and just bounce off bottom.. lighter line and a lighter pole so you can feel the hit

The noodle we had was not for fish soup but an instant Ramyun. That is hot and spicy. The brand name is "Nongshim Shin Original Ramyun" You can find it from Amazon.

Sorry to hear that, Evan! We waited for two hours before getting bites that night. The biting lasted just for about 5 minutes. Luckily, we caught 8. I guess it will be getting better this week and beyond.

Cut the belly, remove intestines, peel off skin, clean with water, warp with paper towel to remove water, and slice it about 3 millimeter thick. Enjoy it with the sauce and sliced veggies (onion, lettuce, etc.).
Yes, you need the fishing license. It cost about $10. The location is the Goat Island Bridge, Newport, RI. I use equipment for squidding, including light duty fishing rod (5 - 7 feet), spinning reel (~ 2000), sinker (~ 1 oz), line (~ 20 lbs), leader (~ 20 lbs), squid jigs (Yozuri, Yamashita, etc.)
낚시하는 다리옆에는 화장실이 없습니다. 근처에 걸어서 약 5분 거리에 Newport Lobster Shack 이라는 곳 바로 옆에 간이화장실이 하나 있는데 저는 여기서 해결 했어요. 혹은 그 주위에 Newport Marriott 호텔에서 해결 하기도 했습니다. 소변의 경우는 노상이나 차안에서 ㅋㅋㅋ

@@VMykeV yes, people are using spinning reel. Yamashita or Yoxuri are good for squid jig.

The red sauce we had for Squid Sashimi is the "Hot Red Chili Pepper Paste Sauce with Vinegar" You could find it from Amazon.

I'm planning on going down there for squid this or next weekend. Any tips for a first timer? Is there a specific size Yo-Zuri jig i should use?
General medium size jigs should be fine. Use Yamashita or Yozuri jigs. Pink or orange color was good. The sinker I used was 1 oz.

보통 4월말에서 5월 산란철이 가장 핫 합니다. 그 후에도 년중 잡히지만 마리수는 들쑥날쑥 해요. 늦가을이 되면 사이즈가 큰놈들이 잡힙니다. 12월이 되면 다 깊은 바다로 가서 안잡히는것 같습니다.

I bought them from Amazon. Any size with Yamashita or Yozuri will work fine.
