Sounds like the car lady was just upset she lacks awareness of other drivers lol - like you said if you're over the line already and clearly making a u-turn, why would they act like queen of the road - have you thought about getting a dash cam for your car? I don't drive but I keep seeing how useful they can be when dealing with other drivers on the road - might be a nice way to protect yourself from the crazies haha.
