Right off the bat when he said he was the son of Louise Fili and Steven Heller I was like wait... THE Louise Fili and Steven Heller?! Interesting to see what it was like to be influenced by 2 design giants.
Does anyone else feel like he's exploitative, that his content is cliched, derivative of "Humans of New York", and that he's quite privileged (private school, rich and connected parents)?
What makes you say that? He compensates the recurring personalities on his platform and has helped a number of them-like Cug and Jaeki-build their own audiences on their own platforms. Beyond that I would say that his handle is differentiated, but certainly they share a lane. As for his privilege, yes he's pretty transparent about coming from a supportive and artistic upper-middle class home. Does that make his creative or commercial success less significant to you? You're obviously welcome to think what you like, and either way we appreciate you giving the episode your time. Hope you like the next one better!
I'm addicted to these interviews.
