A trick to make the chrome paint pop is to paint it in high glass black first. The surface needs to be a 800 or better wet sanded surface with black paint. The shinier the black the shinier the chrome.

Hi Ian.. the truth of it is that my determination to get the prep right, and take the time with it is borne out of a lack of patience... i can't stand doing things twice.. so no matter how long it takes to get it right first time, its better than doing it again...if that makes sense..

  • @clivewilliams1406

Why mask off the fixing tabs to the seat hump as they will be hidden? As plain aluminium they will be liable to corrode and having fluffy white oxides peering around the edge of the finely finished undertray won't look as good as it could.

That chrome paint might Polish up with a soft cloth to make it more like chrome...but only when it's cured properly...do yourself a test piece and try it....I had some chrome paint a few years ago and when it was cured I was able to Polish it so it was shinier? ? Not sure if it's the same paint but give it a try....you never know..!!

I just put a new reg on my bike and in doing so noticed all the old paint on my bracket was just sheeting off so funnily I've just done exactly the same to mine with a full coat of tough black. Del, have you any experience on risers at all? And I mean the type that adjusts the angle rather than height.
