that comment/statement about Alex was a disgrace ,theres builders banter then there is downright nastiness Alex is a top man .keep up the good work guys.fantastic build as usual cheers..Dougie
@@SteveAndAlexBuild You have my utmost sympathy and admiration Steve. I'm waiting for a hip operation and it's bloody murder trying to move about sometimes - but at least I'm retired. You must be pushing through the pain barrier daily. Be careful though. Ultimately it's your body that decides enough is enough, however much we try to battle on. 🤕
I went to see my old branch and asked how it was going with the new 150 mm insulation Andy my replacement said they were selling more 50mm and 100mm saving a lot of money by placing both in the cavity made sense. I hope it helps you impressive video, regards Ken
Beginning to think you've got a troll on your channel guys. Out of all your videos I don't recall Al ever berating anybody else's methods or being anything but professional and hard working. He's got a great work ethic and I'd trust him to work on my house any day. Just saying.......
Hi mate. Just one thing. Over years I've noticed on tho new work dpm is lapped into dpc which is correct to Building regs . However on the existing house there is left a OPEN joint ie Dpm just turned up.. the best way is to coat the existing wall around this area with a liquid dpm say 300 to 200mmfrom house dpc. Then seal on the house dpc area with waterproof silicone. Then when concrete is poured this then presses against upturned dpm, and creates a watertight tanking seal.. this is what I would do now. After years. On my own house or others. Another way is disc cutter and insert, but this can damage existing dpc.. Anyway great workers enjoy watching
Steve don’t pay any attention to Brian. Alex is a integral part of the team and I see in the videos what he does The job is coming along great Your granddaughter is a cutie
Another great video Steve that job is coming on great. Whats the plan of action with the hip? I know any work on it would require recovery downtime but you must struggle Steve
Hello Steve I make no apologies but this will be quite a long comment. Firstly I have been watching your channel pretty much since you started. I have watched Steve develop into a fine young man and is fast becoming a good tradesman. I also worked with my dad off and on from school age right through until he was in his seventies. I am 66yrs now and I lost him last year. He wasn't just my trainer he was my life coach, my mentor and my best friend. I can see a similar bond developing between you and Steve. He was a Plasterer and he taught me his skills and work ethic in much the same way you are doing with Steve. What this idiot who made the negative comments does not realise is that learning a skill is not just (in your case laying one brick on top of another) but learning about the whole construction of a building from its start to the finish. The knowledge you need about all the other trades just to be able to do yours never stops surprising you and you will never know it all. You also need to be able to keep the job clean and well planned any person who actually works on the building knows the value of Alex he never really stops and I can see how much he supports you. I Hope you both have many happy years working together just like me and my dad. Cherish every moment
Thanks very much Jack for that lovely comment, summing everything up perfectly mate . Sorry to hear you lost your dad but glad you got to experience working with him and the special bond between father and son . All the best to you 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽😍
Hi, thanks for the great video. I'm a newb and have a question - the sheet you laid on top of the insulation boards, was that the same DPM that is below? Thanks!
That little Princess is her Mother's daughter isn't she! What a charmer! First twenty years are the worse! Good to see you managing to shuffle around Steve - your hips must be so bloody painful. Good days working in the office again, attention to detail is everything for you isn't it - hope your customers appreciate it!
We always have to tape joints on floor insulation but we don’t have to put thermal edge around inside blockwork. BC are happy as long cavity insulation meets the floor insulation 🤷. Looks like that hip is giving you grief Steve.!
Why don't them bags have a draw string onthe bottom so they can be used again, hang on where is Alex ,I just could not hear what you said hope he is ok thanks for the video
The exposed external block on the gable next to the other property, do they need weatherproofing? Have a similar situation for my own extension, wasn’t too sure if need to protect them some way, also would the new cavity need to be joined into existing ie: cut a cavity into existing walls? Thanks
Only if it’s exposed, on our job the gutter will bridge the gap . Some inspectors ask for it some just want a vertical damp installing and some don’t want anything 😬🧱👍🏽
not meaning to be negative like D R , but why didn't you just knock a hole lower on the ordinal wall below the old air brick to pass the 4" pipe through? would have saved you that periscope elbow and would let any condensation build up drain away
Hope you're feeling a bit better Steve can see you're struggling abut there. Drayton Manor brings back memories used to take my girls to Thomas land when they were little. 😊
I know he's your son but you want to fire him off for the amount you carry him and employ Jason full time as he's a grafter and let your son find out what proper graft is tbh
I don’t carry Alex , he carries me . He does all the graft in the background and all the heavy lifting and looks after me while I suffer with my health . I would be lost with out him
I’m not sure what your problem is with Alex I’ve noticed you’ve been at him before. He’s a young lad and works dam hard. They are a brilliant father and son team a lot of people his age and older would not last an hour doing what he does. Your seeing little snippets of the day not the whole day. Very nasty and unnecessary wanting to put a young lad out of work. What a gem you are.
no ones telling you to watch the videos mate, but comments like that tell me you are a loner who still dreams of doing hard work then thinks no il stick to getting handouts from others

The hip isn’t fun . The customers were great 🧱👍🏽😁
Mad trowel man Steve 🤣🤣🤣
😉🧱👍🏽
Looking great Steve as always…does the customer need planning permission and building regs for that size extension?
It’s a permitted development project and is under building regs 🧱👍🏽
What do you use for the cold bridging strip? & where do you get it from? Thanks😊

question arent you meant to put shingles round the pipe and not hardcore

Shouldnt you have put an uostand around tge boundry wall on inside to stop cold bridge of the screed
