For only 2 bucks/month you can gain access to super-secret content, early releases, idea-boards, and other cool perks. Pitch me some ideas and we can collaborate! Mainly the goal is that if I can get enough people here just pitching in 2-5 dollars, eventually I can quit my grueling day job and focus 100% on content creation.

Excellent connection to George Méliès at the end, these kinds of works really do seem to harken back to cinema's earliest experimental era, before they were plagued with dialogue.
This is some of your best work.
Thank you so much! This one has been a long time coming
@@JeffreyStillwell it shows. You do a better job than any other creator of breaking me out of my content bubble. My girlfriend and I will be watching The Fall next week :)
Peter Greenaway's run in the late 80's - 90's was probably the best string of films made in the last 40 years. Himself, Nyman, and Vierny were a serious machine
I'll say what maybe they tell you a lot ... why doesn't this video have more views?
I was looking for Greenaway video essays and you gave me that and much more. I loved it, thank you ... really.
The time for this channel will come, soon. And for the moment I can only wish that you are well, that you continue, that one day I can read something of yours (or see it) and tell you that just as you are a prophet of these films I will try to be a prophet of your channel.
Greetings from Colombia.
I can’t imagine how much fun it would be to score some of these films. Good work!
Good stuff! Another “new” director and his film that impacted me recently is “Les Garçons Sauvaje by Bertrand Mandrico. His work is crazy good.
I love Wes Anderson as much as I love Fellini, Jodorowsky, Gilliam, Pasolini, Trufffaut and so on and so on.
Oh and I forgot to mention Roy Andersson, Michel Gondry and Jean Pierre Jeunet (who I think fueled Wes Andersons style).
In the 90’s there were a couple of super star music video makers who were very unique like for example Hype Williams, Chris Cunningham and Michel Gondry!
Thank you for making this video, it was very inspiring!
Cheers
Omg your works are so deep and educational! You deserve more subscribers! Appreciation ❤️
Thank you for this video brah, this vid deserve more loveee
I'd heard of a few of these guys but the biggest surprise to me is that Rick Alverson isn't eastern European. I'd seen Visuals from Entertainment and just assumed he must be Serbian or something working in America
Hey great video I was wondering if you would a video on The Beach Boys Christmas album and the story behind it. I think it’s a very neat one! Keep up the good work
Such a great piece of work. Always been interested in visual cinema. Whilst (blasphemy) I haven't seen a lot of Wes Anderson films yet, it's always been refreshing to see some examples of truly unique cinema. I am a huge fan of Soviet cinema, and Tarkovsky, Parajanov and the obscure Georgian filmmaker Tengiz Abuladze. I am also a very big fan of Theo Angelopoulos, Landscape in the Mist is on my top 15. I always wanted to see a Greenaway film and will do very soon. I cannot wait to see more of these recommended works, thanks for the vid.
Really liked this video man!
Lech Ma'dżuwski. Perfekt polisz. xD

Yo uh what happened with the other video?
GREENAWAY!!! I love him so much
Such a goldmine. Thank you for making this for all of us! Going to spread the gospel of this video now :D
GREENAWAY AND PARAJANOV MENTIONED!!!!! my all time favs i love u
Superb introduction to these wonderful film-artists. Thank you! 💗
It's called PLANIMETRIC COMPOSITION. Wes Anderson didn't invented it. Actually, It extenselly took it from the early work of the Coens, when they collaborated with Barry Sonnenfield. If you take a look to Sonnenfield's career as a director (The Addams Family and Men In Black in particular), you'll see a TON of those hard frontal shots.
Say central europe and a couple of poles start talking to eachother.
i'm such a lover of narrative in film peter greenaway's words actually triggered me haha
I like Wes Anderson movies, but don't love them. I've been a fan of Angelopoulos and Greenaway before I watched an Anderson film. WA's films are not as very thematically and narratively impactful as Angelopoulos's films, absolutely not close. And Greenaway's movies are light years way more visually majestic than WA's. But I like Wes Anderson films. To me, they're very cute and entertaining, but not really special to me. Like I said, I was long a fan of Angelopoulos and Greenaway, plus Welles, Bergman, Tarkovsky, Kubrick, Lang, Fellini, Lynch, Jodorowski and many others before I saw a WA film. So there's that. I've always heard of Anderson around those award season things before but didn't get to watch any of his films until I saw Grand Budapest Hotel two years after its release.
And finally, thank you very much for Sergei Parajanov, Lech Majewski, Tarsem Singh and Rick Alverson. I better check out their work as well. I appreciate this video. Good job!
you're probably the only youtuber i know who i can relate to and learn from every video you make
Sporangulap
where can i watch the fall 😭
I know I am a bit late to see this video, but I am so glad I did. You've given me a bunch of movies that I WILL be checking out this year. Starting with The Fall. Thanks!
Does anyone know how to watch angelopoulos I can’t find his movies anywhere.
I love this 💕 I’ve watched all of wes’ films like 3x over, time to explore!
Btw your video is great, I’m surprised it doesn’t have more views/likes.
great video thank you for it ! you should love Roy Andersson !
One of my fav directors and I don’t know many soooo if I know Wes and you’ve done a video on him...then I’m in love.... again lol
what is the song you use over the greenway montage ?
Why is this reuplaoded?
My question entirely
There were a couple of copyright claims due to unlicensed music, so I swapped those out with some royalty free music :)
Your Love and Mercy review dosen't show up??? And when i tried to watch it on the Apple Tv it Said it was blocked in my country (Norway) due to copyrighted material?
Man, screw UA-cam and itS copyright system.
Hey I'm sorry that video is blocked for you! It got blocked in a bunch of different countries, it's super frustrating. Shoot me an email and I can send it to you 👍
Great video but hearing these classical masterpieces turned into rap beats is excruciating.
