The 89 Celtics made post season ,Bird ,Mchale ,Parrish made the all-star team ,Bird made all NBA second team 24.3 ,9.5 ,McHale made all second team defense 20.9 8.3 1.9 blks , Parrish 15.7 ,10.1 Reggie Lewis avg 17.1 ,hardly a rag tag bunch you attempt to make them out to be .They were fully capable with their talent and experience of advancing to a finals .they led the Knicks 2-0 before collapsing the inthe first round.

The pistons were overrated
Pistons injured MJ’s hip in game 1, 1990 Conf finals, that injury got them 2 wins, 4-3 series win. Pistons injured Pippen with an elbow to the head in 1989, game 6, 1 minute into the game. Pippen went to the hospital, played 1 minute, Bulls got eliminated that game. So 2x, pistons dirty plays injured the bulls 2 consecutive seasons. Then pistons cried that they were old at age 30, 29, 27, and Isiah injured himself way in the regular season. Pistons could’ve ruined someone’s career with those dirty plays. They’re lucky the nba doesn’t bring in real street guys to play, or that shit could’ve turned really personal off the court.
What about Isiah ankle in 88 when he scored 25 pts in the 3rd qt? The Pistons should have won 88.

Not sure at all what game you were watching, but I am Chicago born and raised, and my brother and I were sitting on the living room couch watching that very game and we CLEARLY saw the madness and were shocked. I remember Isaiah having the ball and looking directly at an open MJ with his hands out for the ball, and Isaiah turned away from him and looked for someone else to pass to. When that happened, I looked at my brother and I said "what the heck was that!" My brother raised his eyebrows and said "I don't know, bad decision". At that point while we were both puzzled at what happened, we did not chalk it up to anything nefarious or deliberate. But then the exact thing happened again, and this time my brother said "they doin this on purpose", and I agreed. It happened enough to know what was going on, I mean even Stevie Wonder could see it. That's when I and pretty much the rest of the Chi was through showing Isaiah any love. He got booed by his own hometown the next appearance--something the Chi had never done to him before, but the Chi had never witnessed Isaiah's level of pettiness either.

Listen man...the Pistons, the Detroit Pistons was ahead of it's time. Bill Davidson was on another level. Born and raised right here in Detroit. Look him up. Mr. Davidson was the first owner to purchase his team their very own private jet. Not the Boston Celtics, not the L.A. Lakers, not the New York Knickerbockers. Nope!! None of them big market teams did that. They followed his move. The Detroit Pistons deserves respect on many levels. Thomas, Jack McCloskey and the owner Bill Davidson built that but it was Isiah's leadership that enabled back-to-back titles but Detroit could have won more titles after 1991 had they kept their squad together...which even proves further of why 1991 was done on purpose by the Pistons...the fact that you don't bring back your championship-contending team healthy to get revenge speaks to a deeper issue of the GM McCloskey making it easier for Chicago for whatever reason, maybe he was told what to do or not do and he had no choice?... Or maybe Isiah knew this was the last year (1990-91) they were going to be together which is why he came back and walked off in a loss when he had no choice but to step aside?... But it makes no sense after losing when you are injured like that to just break up a team when everyone knows if you are healthy, you win 100%. The Lakers/Celtics didn't break their thing up after they lost and Jordan retired and the Bulls kept their core in tact to keep building...so that makes no sense on the part of the Pistons' organization -- that deserves an explanation. Had Detroit lost in 6 or 7 in 1991, then I would say Chicago beat them legit or had Detroit brought back their squad and lost again to Chicago in '92 then I could say it was legit...but that 1991 ECF and 1992 season was taken away from Pistons fans for no reason aside from the league pushing Jordan to win to bring in the money.

This is to sum it up for everyone. MJ, and likely Magic Johnson cheated Isiah out of his COMPLETE BASKETBALL LEGACY. He deserved to be in the Class with MJ and Magic as guys who won NCAA 🏆, NBA Titles and Olympic Gold 🏅. He couldn't do it in 80 because of the Boycott, and they robbed him of it in 92.
The Pistons get flack for playing the way that every Team played, especially in the Eastern Conference. They had to get beat up by Boston and LA before they could assume the Mantle of Champions, and they did it. Zeke gets heat for the fact that he rode with Rodman over those comments about Bird.
