- Tens of thousands of mercenaries are fighting for Russia in Ukraine.
The so-called Wagner Group has been heavily involved in the country’s efforts to capture the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.
At the head of the group is Yevgeny Prigozhin, a former hotdog salesman-turned-mercenary leader who now has a private army of Russian convicts at his service.
The BBC’s Analysis Editor Ros Atkins explains his rise to power.

Zelinsky on the other hand had real military leaders, with superior weapons, and morale guided by NATO intelligence, and they lost to a hotdog salesman...
@@WakaWaka-MadaFaka Wishful thinking, perpetuated by Russia, that they fight against full forces of NATO. Battle of Khasham was against NATO. Bakhmut drew nearly all Russia’s resources and they couldn’t take it for a lot longer than Stalingrad, owning their advances to sheer number of sheep led to slaughter and such a number of shells, that the rest of the forces couldn’t get enough. Even after the takeover, the entire Russian boundary is open for invasion, and Ukraine is only starting.
Edit: moreover, What remains of Bakhmut is in such a disadvantage right now, with Ukraine controlling the flanks, that the cook is anxious to get out of Bakhmut ASAP with the remaining skeleton of his forces. The honor of “strategic negative advance” from the area is passed to the regular Russian army.
Edit 2: Oh, and while the cook was throwing bodies of convicts at Bakhmut, Sweden and Finland decided to join NATO. The main reason Putin started this was was to prevent NATO expansion to the east. Now NATO is a stone throw away from his native city of St. Petersburg. Plus, he made the best advertisement for Patriots, using his own people‘s money.

Sure, Russia constantly tells in its omnipresent propaganda that it is at war with the entire NATO. In reality, it is stuck in a small country that gave up its nuclear weapons and is not protected by Article 5, committing war crimes. Meanwhile, Finland and Sweden join NATO. Putin’s native town is now a stone throw from the NATO boundary and the Master Strategist dares not make a single peep about it.
All Wagner is doing is helping the depleted Russian army stay relevant else the so called war on Ukraine would be over by now. Putin should be embarrassed that the mighty Russian army can't make a dent in Ukraine

At the bare minimum, Wagner lost 20,000 men over 9 months taking one medium-sized city in Ukraine.
