Good question. Now that I'm thinking this is my first time watching Ospreys banding. I have only watched Peregrine Falcons. Oh my they sure can carry on. LOL
The parents circle overhead, continually calling to their chicks to 'play dead'. This is the chicks only form of defence against a real predator. Their camouflage mimicry is highly effective at this age, so long as they stay still. www.dyfiospreyproject.com/blog/emyr-mwt/2017/06/27/ringing-2017
Ok, it took me minute. I'm watching Ospreys and Falcons too. It's not the same at all. I need to watch some Osprey Documentaries as well. I love to learn their differences. Thank you!
Boy, no kidding! Eagles behave the same as the osprey. It's amazing to watch. The parents circle around overhead and call out the alarm, but it's usually very calm. One guy doing banding was nipped on the arm this season by a juvenile bald eagle ... he was so surprised! It was pretty cute.
Can tell that this bander has been doing this for a long time. A true professional, who cares for the birds!
Thank you for everything ❤️
Thanks for all you do it's important to have them ringed 👍
Beautiful! And thank you for the lovely music! You certainly make it look easy.
Amazing to watch. I love coming to your project. Well done.
Loving the Tesco Osprey bag for life.
We need to get Tony a proper osprey bag :)
Great to see such a calm and professional job of ringing the chicks.
Lovely video! So nice to see the care taken in handling the birds :)
Good work guys 👍
毫無反抗能力の 🐣 們真讓人 💛 疼~毎次一想到那些被owls or eagles抓走卻再也回不來のbabies ♡ 裏就難受 😢 (This season many 🐣 lost,too...)
Were they sedated or is this just how the chicks are?
Not sedated, this how the chicks all behave when it's time to band! They just hunker down and take it.
