Really enjoyed listening to this version, only thing that spoiled it was that janky music, take that out and it would be perfect 👍

I listen to this one last night. It's different from the book I had to read in my literature class over 40 years ago. I didn't enjoy the book as much. But I did enjoy listening to this. Reading was hard for me in my youth but became important when we had children we read all the time to them until they decided they would rather read to us. Our grandchildren were raised the same way always loved being read to and as they were getting older and going to school they would read to us.

      Wonderful!
I am aiming to bring the listeners, dramas from all over the different spectrums and genres. I have read many books in the past and have always enjoyed hearing and watching variations of the original content whether its in text, film or audio. As we live in an everchanging society one thing that fascinates me is the language, style and adaptations of the original content throughout time.
In saying this, it also makes me realise that through time WE change the way we digest the original content as do we change the way we read it to others.
The whole reason i started this channel is for the exact reasons that you have commented on this episode.
Thank you so much for your input.

@@TheGreatBritishRadioPlay-ce3xd We appreciate that you communicate with your fan's. We enjoy that we're able to hear different versions of these stories or stories we've never heard before. We're from the US and love how the British versions are much more entertaining to us than our English is here. Personally I don't feel in a rush to have the stories end.

This was an excellent version of this story, very intriguing. However, as an American, the language and accents were difficult for me to understand, especially when the characters spoke quickly. This is a much different version than most movies I have seen.

The BBC must have been going thru a wave of Scottish Nationalism. One radio play about a Russian ship was brim full of thick difficult to discern Scottish accents . Now Dr Jekyll gets the thick Scottish accent treatment Stopped listening after the 1st 10 minutes.

Oh dear, have your delicate 'little Englander' sensibilities been bruised again? Two plays performed by Scottish actors speaking with Scottish accents.....how dare they, what is the world coming to? Thank God (who is after all English I'm told) you have Enid Blyton to keep you happy....simple plays for simple minds.

Absolutely, as the Brexit tear sensibilities shine through, they don’t like anything from Europe or Scotland or Ireland or probably Wales. All the pool coaching over a Scottish accent. The dimwit didn’t even realise that Robert Louis Stevenson was Scottish himself and wrote a lot of beautiful Scottish poetry in the Gaelic language. I’m sure this little Brexiter year Bellend would be so outraged to actually hear it read. There’s so many things and troubles in this world to get so upset over somebody’s accent because it isn’t British is utterly ridiculous. The Empire is dead and deserves to be. I just wish some people would actually realise that.

Did you listen to the introduction? There were some good reasons offered for the locational transposition to Edinburgh - especially as the contrast between the respectability of the new town and the 'low life' old town matches the duality of Jekyll and Hyde.
