The story about a lover talking to his sweetheart across the galaxy only to find out that any message sent means they’re light years apart, only for him to set off on his expedition to see his love, even if it costs him his life. I don’t understand the song, but I didn’t really think much of this quest until I actually saw this video. Truly, romantic.
Light year is a unit to measure distance, not time. To make it clearer, the lovers are separated by time due to some strange time distortion happening at where his lover's at. The distortion will gradually become bigger as time passes and ultimately cause the time difference between the 2 to become bigger until each day for the girl will become decades even centuries for the man. After the man found out, he decides to travel across galaxies to her so that they can be together even if he may lose his life due to him passing through the distortion.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there möbius strip theory in this song? Because if so then the seemingly möbius strip at 1:52 and the circulated singing at 3:14 is very brilliant for the MV animators & song composers. it really does bring home that once-in-a-lifetime feeling when the two sides of the strip (the two lovers) are together at first, meaning they will never reunite 💔
so i just realized that this side quest is probably a reference to Voices of a Distant Star (2002) by Makoto Shinkai in which a 15 year old girl is sent off into space to fight aliens and as she travels farther away her messages take longer and longer to send back to her childhood friend/lover until years later the boy is an adult already but the girl is still 15
actually HSR has similar theme, except the girl is trapped in some planet/station that had star explosion or sth which changed her area's time speed. The guy is an npc in herta station. It was a side quest, tho I forgot how it started. The finale also has reference of matrix's red pill blue pill
