So as per your call to our Tech support today The EAC is not to be wired directly to the transformer unless the air unit is one of the newer units with dry contacts. Alternatively you can use an isolation relay to create dry contacts. The preferable install is to use the Air Switch kit however. Nice save on the airflow direction. And for all of you folks out there reading Do NOT purchase a reme online, No1 We do not warranty any online purchases due to the massive online fraud
No2 We only warranty if installed by a proper licenced HVAC technician

So if I want to power the Halo off my furnace board, I see 'Neutral' posts, which would take the white wire from the Halo transformer, but then there are 120V posts for 'Heat' and 'Cool' on the board. Do I need to switch the black wire from the Halo transformer to either of these Heat/Cool posts every time the seasons change - depending on if I'm using my heat or A/C? Or will it work to just leave it on either of the posts for all seasons? I'm guessing I need to switch that wire whenever the temperature changes my HVAC needs (winter to summer, summer to winter)

I bought one from the A/C guy for $1200 installed, I saw them on Amazon for around $450 so the A/C charged me $750 to install it. It only took him less than an hour to install so $750 in labor sounds like a rip off. He was here installing a couple other things like a surge protector on the A/C compressor and a float system for the air handler. He was in and out in less then 1.5 hours to install everything.

Just beware, on the transformer, BLACK is neutral (common) and WHITE is hot, according to the nameplate. Doesn't matter in this instance, but if you were wiring to 208 or 240 you would use NOT white and red or orange, but BLACK and red or orange. Not sure why they didn't adhere to the standard white is neutral. I used a number 51 current relay to sense current in the blower motor common wire. This way no matter what speed it runs at, the current relay switches 120 volts to transformer primary. My motor is not variable speed.

Basically the same thing when using EAC terminal on board.

    • @kodieivie
      @kodieivie 3 роки тому +3

No seriously, the bulletin says not to use the eac terminals. They created a $60 dollar pressure switch and call it an air sensing switch. It's actually meant for communicating systems that can't use the relay they include. The relay was meant for non communicating systems with ecm motors and people that run their fan all the time so it can still turn on and off. Rgf said it needs to come on and off with the blower to clean itself.. I think thats bullshit, I think it can't handle having power constantly. They advertise it as a feature to cycle on off but say it must be wired this way.. the fact of the matter is they fucked up. It will damage the unit if it doesn't cycle off. I installed one in March 2020 with the transformer on the eac terminals on my carrier infinity communicating system, which it isn't possible to use the relay, and I have the fan running all the time and it burned out the transformer in probably a month or two. I replaced it and it lasted a month. Then the unit was just Dead. The service bulletin says get this: "must use" - "optional" air sensing switch on communicating systems. I know I've installed more than a dozen on the eac terminals.. this year I'll be going back on warranties.. and this is just for the LED version. The opposite is true for the non led reme-h model, it must have constant 24v all the time and using the eac terminals with that one will ruin it. Anyway it's still a great product.. but get ready for call backs on ecm users..

Thats what the instructions stated when I installed it,and back then I was questioning it made no mention of cycling with the fan...re read instructions twice cuz I thought I was missing this

The LED models can cycle, the mercury models just stay on

REME-H runs continuously, REME-LED must cycle on and off. If you run the led continuously it will significantly shorten the arrays lifespan, the opposite is true for the REME-H if you cycle it you will shorten the cell's lifespan

Important to note that connecting it from the board will damage board per RGF. You do need the relay/air sensor on LEDs on variable speed blowers no shorcut around it...

The HALO-LED is powered using the supplied 40VA transformer. The
transformer is designed to be wired in 3 different ways depending on the
type of fan in the HVAC unit:
For single stage fans, the transformer may be connected in parallel to
the incoming power of the blower. See Figure 7.
For variable speed fans without communicang thermostats, the enclosed
relay may be used. For wiring instrucons visit:
      www.rgf.com/relay-switch-instructions
For variable speed fans with communicang thermostats, the output of
transformer may be connected through the oponal air sensing switch in
the RGF Installaon Kit (HLED-AS). For wiring instrucons visit:
      www.rgf.com/rgf-air-sensing-switch-kit

Love your sheet metal skills but your snips a little to be desired. But you are a technician not a sheet metal fabricator/installer. Just thought I would get my jab in. But as always love the content and keep them coming.

Do not follow these instructions! You will fry your Reme-Led unit, one of the main points in the instructions in to NOT use the EAC terminal for power. It will damage the unit over time. It must be also be cycled on/off with the blower to clean the ion brush tips. Bad install!!!

@@anthonybernier9952 use the air switch. It goes in line with the 24V power to the unit. One hose to the negative pressure side (I go into the side of the blower cabinet), one hose to the positive pressure side (I go to the plenum). $40 and it guarantees the unit will only run when air is flowing, which is required with the LED unit.

Do NOT buy on Amazon or any other online retailer, We will NOT warranty if for any issue as the seller is breaking their sales agreement with RGF

this is complete RIP OFF TO CUSTOMERS, so keep your product within yourself or come up with DIY solutions as world is moving towards online services and by passing greedy contractors/ middle man, these contractors are charging $2000 to install 1 units and if homeowners has 2 or 3 units then they will be spending 4k to 6k to just get that device installed. I would rather do it my self or look for other maintenance free product like i-wave R.

So @joejordan what if we did buy one online? We’re screwed? I bought on from Voomis who said they would honor the warranty if installed by a certified tech. How else are we supposed to get them installed? I’m not paying $2k for it.
