- Welcome to the Trees of Mystery! Located in Klamath, CA (Home of the Tour thru tree and possibly Sasquatch as well) this amazing TOP Roadside Attraction has been going in one form or another since the 1930s. Most famous for its epic 49 foot tall PAUL BUNYAN and Babe the Blue Ox, the trees of Mystery started as Wonderland Park with mysterious and amazing giant redwoods so unusual and interesting that they were featured in Ripley’s “Believe it or not!” - they’re still so unusual and interesting, and in such a beautiful natural setting that Millions of people from around the world still visit these trees of Mystery, roam the trail of tall tales, and ride the gondola Sky Trail to the top of the mountain for stunning views of the coast, Bigfoot, wilderness trails, and of course mysteries such as the octopus tree, the cathedral grove, the candelabra tree, fallen giants, etc etc - this place is just south of Crescent City, California in and among the giant redwoods, aways North of Eureka Ca and the famous “Avenue of the Giants!” - definitely worth a visit if for nothing but Paul, Babe, and the gift shop, but go and see the Tree Mysteries for yourself! They’re amazing!

My family stopped here in 1963 on our way to Disneyland. I was an 8 year old from Vancouver BC. I crawled on Paul Bunyan's foot and suddenly a voice said to get off my foot....they had a guy in the window with a microphone I guess............it still looks the same. Thanks for the memories!

I was born and raised just up 101 in Crescent City and my grandparents and Trees of Mystery owner Marilee Thompson were good friends so I have many happy childhood memories of visits here about 60 years ago.
So much of the trees of mystery have changed since i last saw them in 1989. I have family who live in Bend Oregon so this entire set of videos really brought back some memories.
These are good enough for television, seriously!

Justin, I grew up in Klamath and Requa during the 60s. We, my brother and I would help maintain the trails back then as kids. Babes head used to rock up snd down, and Pauls head would turn plus he would wave, not sure if they still do or not, they do look a bit different. I wanna go back so badly! I miss the coast...so peaceful and beautiful there. The Requa Inn is a treasure. We lived just up the hill from it. 👍👍

Having grown up in Humboldt Co. my grand parents would take me Trees of Mystery every now and then back in the '70's. Back then everyone had chrome bumpers on their cars, and when you came back to your car from visiting the gift shop or wandering around in the forest, there would always be a yellow Trees of Mystery bumper sticker wired to your car... good times..
So cool. When I was there in April, Paul didn't talk or move at all. It is so cool that you got all of it.
Also, you ought to visit Multnomah Falls and the other dozen waterfalls along the Columbia River Gorge and Historic Columbia River Highway... there's a giftshop a lot like the one in this video, but if that isn't enough those waterfalls are stunning and I know that Ally would love them!

When I was a little girl, my Mama, grandma, older sister and I took.a trip to Disneyland in our car. There was a hotel on-site here and we spent the night. When mama some up in the early hours the next morning, there was no sign of her youngest. Mama dressed and ran outside to look for me. It didn't take her long to find me-I was happily telling Paul Bunyon about my family and our trip. (Back then there was a man inside that talked to tourists). She apologized to him, he said he had enjoyed the conversation and she drug me back to our room to get ready for the day. I have memories of talking to him and it made no sense to me that he could talk but "Blue" cou!dnt make any noises. What a fabulous memory you brought back to me!!!! Thank you so much!

The Trees of Mystery is an awesome place. I dared to adventure that wilderness trail that runs from the top of the mountain down to the base. The pain I was in for the next week was almost unbearable. I should have listened when the sign at the beginning of the trail warned that it wasn't for amateurs but the experience and sheer beauty made it all worthwhile.
And that's why they say it's for the advanced hikers, eventho I got late to it and it closed already, I would've gone down it

I've always loved the tall tales trail... glad to see they are giving it some TLC now... last time I went through a lot of the scenes were rotting and covered in moss. You are right it is fun to listen to the story boxes. I wish my favorite redwoods attraction was still around: Hobbiton. Was a fun old school recreation of the Hobbit in the redwoods... been closed for years now.
