How to WIN Castle Ravenloft! Mechanics You MUST Know | Reapers Challenge Day 1 - Neverwinter Mod 21

- Castle Ravenloft is a long and somewhat challenging dungeon! Going in blindly will only get you and your party killed countless times. So I have gone over the dungeon and it's core need to know mechanics to get you through it safely. This is day one of the reapers challenge and these are my tips to get your through it!

FIRST BOSS
- On first boss, as a tank, sometimes i can't take aggro on a sister, even spamming hard taunt, she relentlessly attack the person she choosed, is this intended or a bug ?
Is there a way to counter that ? A dps can dodge the final blow when reaching 10 stacks or is it impossible?
- I heard it is possible for a tank to stand between the said targeted dps and her when 10 stacks are reached and to block the damage by raising the shield, is it true ?
- On your video i see you don't get pushed away like others when first portal is destroyed, how do you resist the bump ?
- For the bat swarm you are talking of getting into the light area, where are they exactly ?
LAST BOSS
- For final boss i see you wield the sword, it's for showing in the video only or is it meant for the tank to wield it ?
Seems doable with a good healer if aggroing is possible with the sword as i didn't took so much damage doing this one in reaper, what do you think ?
- In that case, do you know what sword attack is better dps-efficient ? basic? spin ? big one ?

First boss
- Yes the Sisters do have a bug where they can disregard the aggro of the tank and just target a dps.
- Not sure about standing in-between, but the dps can dodge the attack and loose their stacks, if they do so at the right time
- The light areas are on the corners of the arena by the lamps. In the last boss it's on the candles.
Last boss
- Yes I fully tank with the sword, it does enough damage that I can also hold aggro with it. If need be drop it and hard taunt the boss.
- I found the best sword power for damage is Sunbeam, the lunge power, lunge through the boss, turn and do so again, he will fail to keep up with you. or you can use the right click power, and spin for 5s and then do so again. Just you will get stunned if you spin for 6s

I may have missed that but you didn't mention bats mechanic during Strahd fight? Some people call it hypo (maybe because of arrows).
For anyone that is wondering: bats mechanic happens usually when Strahd says something like: "Feast my pets!", then someone may or may not get bats. If they persist long enough they can kill within few hits so it's really important to get rid of them as quickly as possible. And to get rid of them affected player must run to candles that are located on the arena and stand there for about 3-5 seconds. That should clear bats.
On the extra note: try to not get hit by more than 1 orb blast, as it can kill pretty quickly and if someone is kidnapped to the nighmare part, make sure to release that person AFTER orbs blast. As it happens sometimes there are 4 orbs in the center and dps tend to not pay attention to this. Getting hit by 4 of those at once = death, no matter the protection.

Yeah the bats, I should have mentioned it again for the last boss, but its the same mechanic you see with the sisters already
@@Aragon- It is similar true, but I saw many people just stand and die when bats show up so I decided to mention it.
i read somewhere (i believe it was in an old forum thread) a dev post which told that the first boss/sister batHypo is NOT meant to be brought to a candle/light (as it is in the case of the EndBoss) but just treated as usual hypo (like in Tomm/VOS etc.)... and btw. my impression is that the same is true for LOMM (first boss) ... in both cases ppl tend to do nothing (just run headless around, others dont care) but i noticed when on an healer that if i placed hallow ground, share with the 'victim' the dmg (which is risky if just one person does it) and instantheal then they more often survived. not always (depends on their class/stats likely). but if there were even more ppl then the survivability was noticable greater which sounds all like normal (hard) hypo. i just could not test it yet in a proper way with an organized group. in case of normal ravenloft the bat swarm at the endboss usually does not matter anymore. if u run to a candle or not, the result appears to be the same. almost no dmg done. just in a few cases the player still seemed to be hurt. this goes for many things in normal ravenloft at the endboss.. almost no dmg done by most mechanics (its now rather surprising if one is downed). the sword debuff (aginst dmg of servants) appears to be irrelevant, and if u are alone in the basement with the doppelgaenger ads then you just can stand there and let hit you. i tested that some days ago. basically no dmg. no need to run around ... looks a bit like the turtle situation in FBI... took a while until ppl noticed that she does basically no relevant dmg. the narrative of the past was for some time still stronger as the reality in front of the nose. but they are permanently change things in the backgroud without any patchnotes ...

Although I've done CR quite a few times now, I still learnt a few things from this vid that I didn't know.
It also helps a bit if everyone holds the sword once before the fight, to get max buffs in the boss fight.
I'm really glad to hear that the Reaper's challenge won't always be 50k requirement!

The best dungeon in the game! it is so unique and graphically beautiful!
I always explain it as, if you are the tank block when she rises in the air...i never watch those stacks. Also it should be noted that for the person wielding the book, none of the powers work anymore except LMB.
RMB used to be used to cleanse chains because you could use 1 to stun the red ghosts and then go over to your team and do the cleanse/heal.
For the 2nd boss the way it works is that whoever has aggro must take the hit from his overhead chop or he will spin (usually happens when a dps has aggro and dodges), as tank you do not have to block you just have to get aggro and take the hit.
Also for dps and healer watch what side his sword is on and always try to stay behind him on the opposite side of the sword, if not his big arcing swipe is likely to 1 shot you if his sword is red.
For the Sunsword, use 1 right after the sword says "heavens".
There is no point in stacking the sword and never really was it only helps for the small trash phase right before the Strahd fight.

Nicely done Aragon. We were doing the 2nd boss. He was spinning without doing the animation 🤣🤣 still one of my top5 dungeons

I've experienced this as well, all the sudden you're dead you don't even see him swing
I tried. And failed hard as a bard healer. I have only been at it a couple weeks, 41k, and.. ugh.. first time in I had NO IDEA what was going on. Came here right after to learn.. and.. honestly.. I still dont think I am ready for all those mechanics do's and dont's. >.< Maybe someday.
I run Ravenloft as a Bard healer and do fine, BUT a big part is timing and your build. I run Protector's Hand for my mount power and then have the Encore daily to toss shields, and just time them as best I can with boss damage, though you have to know your mechanics and anticipate the damage to make that work. Worst part is usually the beginning with the sisters when the DPS is scattered and my songs don't reach anyone because there's too much distance and I can't run fast enough back and forth. 🙃
Don't feel badly, though, the mechanics on this dungeon especially are very specific, and it's not an easy one to get until you've done a few runs and can anticipate, and Bards are complicated enough by themselves, haha. If you're in a guild, maybe see if some players who know it well can run it with you a few times through so you can get timing down with a more forgiving group. 😊
Bro I messed up this mechanic 3 times and got so embarrassed I just left. I did the last shield too early each time lmao

DPS needs to dodge all the balls and/or the healer need to have them full HP all the time otherwise they get 1 shot by the red balls.
Had a friend with a random healer that asked me to help them 3rd boss. Spent 1 hour there bc dps kept dying, had to run with 3 squires to make up for the healer being bad...
I main a healer and I'm not a fan of calling a healer bad.
This is neverwinter, 90% of the dps in the game tries to tank hits for a number on a scoreboard.
You can't out heal stupid.
I really wanted to finished Ravenloft (Epic) dungeon but everyone keeps dropping and didn't even bother to try to learn from the fight or mistakes. Sure it's the hardest dungeon I've seen thus far, but the story looked really interesting 😔
I did Castle Ravenloft yesterday in random queue and it was not too hard. When my Healer got transported to the other room, I didn't get stunned and Xuna killed them all for me. I wonder what would happen tonight?
Apparently the Sun Sword adds buffs for the mobs before Strahd, not in the Boos room itself.
And you should have hovered for longer over the Legendary Packs, expecially the Companion one. It was very hard to pause while the tool tip was showing.

So I ran CR with a tank today who never activated the second boss because they never engaged stamina or deflected. Apparently if you just take those hits to the face and don't block or deflect, he never rages and you can just run him around in circles and take him down that way?

hypo is the main reason to quit first boss run when you run reaper without revive and no one take the time to explain how to avoid it

I come through here to express my indignation in my professions where I have all levels until the 5 in my champion. After the patch I lost the masterwork levels 1,2,3 what happens? Will I be harmed by this update? u can help me?
I'm not sure yet, yes they screwed things up. They said they are working on a fix

No one cares about the red spheres in normal CR. Most people don't even know how they work in the first place. I NEVER see anyone dodging them with me. Imagine on RC... no thanks, I'll skip a day
They are indeed nasty, but survivable. It's quite tricky to learn the sequence of the spheres and killer X's, especially if you are running with people who have, as you say, simply ignored that mechanic in normal CR. How my group did it last night - 3 of us had MW weapons to give the group a 6% damage reduction - then : I'm a Pally, so I raised my Golden Shield which reduces the damage of those behind me and the Cleric put down his golden circle which also reduces damage and gives a heal dot, between the two we did alright and got through it without dodging.
Just beat it with a pug, wasn’t that bad. Not sure what the hubbub is all about.
Tried with a pug 3 times so far but none of the groups could kill the portals between the sisters in time. It's a very short window and you have to save your mount powers and dailies for it.
There's always that one person. "I beat it with random players in five minutes with my eyes closed. "
Never had a group in which someone is not leaved before the first boss...playstation community is great...not

Yes, with the no regen condition, it just means no auto heal outside of combat
Is this permanent or times?
You can queue for castle ravenloft whenever you want, but this was the reapers challenge which will change dungeon every-day.
