This is a fantastic piece by ITN, great work in a stressful environment. Hats off!

Couple of questions:
- What is a "vox pop"?
- What are the tradeoffs between the wireless receiver mic & separating the audio capture from the camera? Do you ever decide to have the on-camera reporter hold the audio capture device like a Zoom?
It goes without saying, thanks for making this! Really interesting technical breakdown
So 'vox pop' is what we call across news media, as an impromptu soundbite from someone, not a sit down interview, but just a grab and go with a shotgun.
About tradeoffs this is a really good point. I'm not sure what this team did exactly, but your second point is what we've started to do on our team, where we can feed the lapel mic to a zoom as the input and then take the output of the zoom into the wireless transmitter to send to the receiver on the camera. This way there is always two audio files essentially creates an automatic audio backup and leaves you with a clean audio option if there is any unexpected signal breakup from the radio signal. Hope I explained this well in words.
Also, this was an ITN team in DC who filmed this. I am a cameraman at BBC based in Bangkok but found a lot of useful information in this piece from DC so wanted to break it down.
Cheers!
That fade and camera move was fantastic. The line about the Speaker's nameplate being pulled off while they were filming didn't really work though, IMHO, when they didn't have the shot to cover it. Thanks for the breakdown - really interesting.
Yea it was a nice transition that goes quite unnoticed. Happy you enjoyed these, will keep doing these. Cheers
Anyone have a link that works in the US? Seems to be region-restricted
Please upload the complete journalist video 🙏 uninterrupted..🌎✌🏼
Check the time stamp at 5.57 just after the woman is shot , for a split second there is a gunman holding an automatic rifle.
Wonder if that's police or civilian?
I'm not versed enough to know what kind of firearm that is though.
@@dannyabull pretty insane situation thats for sure !
We live in interesting times
So getting any clarity on what exactly they wanted to accomplish wasn't a possibility.
ITV News. Good Job.

A man named Sullivan filmed it.
Mark Davey was on the camera for this one. Who has Sullivan? Want to drop some of his work here, would be good to check it out and break it down as well
