Am I the only who prefers the 12c front end to the 650S? I think the newer style headlights only look good on the P1.
SoCalSupercars i think the 12c is so much smoother looking. love the 12c. if i were to buy a 650s, i'd ask them to put the 12c face on it and i'll offer them like a million bucks

Dont agree at all. I liked the 12C but imo with the new front and black rear the 650S looks much better. The 650S is perfect imo

Great vid and i love the way you summed it up because im a Mclaren fan and i feel they do have a soul and they are very passionate about their cars and motorsport. I think someone even said that Mclaren is just as much of an engineering company as they are a car company.

This is why i love this channel; the reviews are pure, concise, and to the point. The larger channels have begun to disappoint and bore me; they try too hard to please the masses with tacky jokes and sesquipedalian loquaciousness - using large and elaborate words to seem smart. The mclaren 650s is my future dream car after i finish my schooling; thank you boys for a proper and stunning review. Last question, what is the music beginning at 9:50 - it is a banger of a track. m4-12c with the P1 front hood and tail lights along with the 570s rear diffuser and interior bucket seat and dash instruments set up . Now that would be a very good mclaren indeed.

Thought I was the only one
I now drive a 650S Spider after having a 12C Coupe, the difference is amazing! Performance wise it's another league! May not look much on paper, but in the seat of your pants, it's massive! Do remember as well, the previous 12C is a VERY quick car! I really don't understand the "You're not getting the most" "It's holding your hand" bit... It's a 1350kg 640BHP 207mph road car, I want all the help it can give me on the public highway. If you track it, the traction systems can be turned off to allow proper yob behaviour! Utterly brilliant!

Great review! I think Ferrari is becoming more like GT cars. McLaren on the other hand is listening to its customers and making all kinds of cars...like you said, a bit faster a bit better than the others.

I love this car but the alcantara interiors are horrible. A well stitched leather interior anyday over this.

I prefer the front on the 12c. I have no doubt this is a better car...but I'd be very happy with a 12c Spider. : )
If it does the thinking then YOU'RE not the one getting the most out of it. It's guiding you and holding your hand. Where's the challenge in that? But it's the same problem with almost all modern cars. Given me an old school car any day
econ1985 lol, watch a review on the S63 AMG... all the major supercar and luxury marques are doing the same. no one wants to make a car anymore that you can "DRIVE", that's why i'll be sadden when they completely stop making manual gear boxes

What all variants do they have of the same thing. 550, 650, 675. They have become the Samsung of supercar world.

+kerk tp The Turbo S has three problems. You can only get the best out of it while actually driving fast, which you cant do on 90% of the roads. Also the price. Porsche likes making the base car really cheep however charge you lots of money for options which should be as standard. You can end up paying 250K for a car originally priced at 100K. The third is the depreciation. They depreciate worse than McLaren's do.

I am #McLaren fan and to be honest I was not surprised they took a little Porsche-like strategy in building cars with focus on overall quality vs "emotion". Almost like Golf. You cannot say anything really bad not to buy one if you have chance as most of arguments will be against others. What I do like is how McLaren is dinamic in updates and increasing their portfolio. This also has own downfall. Now you cannot even "connect" with manufacturer as every few years they hit market with new model, and you are just waiting for those crown jewels - GT3 and Speciale version as they are ones which bring "emotion" to brand. McLaren just needs to find own version.
It looks like they have 'fiddled' with everything!

Nice, but I would say debatable: Ferrari has both, passion as you call it and engineering. It is one of the most innovative supercar companies, just look at each new model and you will always find loads of new pieces of technology, and many times even radical changes and innovations such as with the "4WD" of the FF to give an example. That's why, IMO, Ferrari is that step higher than the others. It manages to combine beauty/art, sport/performance and innovation all at once.
This does not mean I do not like McLaren. It is amazing and getting better and better over the years from all points of view (now just need to get back on their feet in F1)
The 650s is still my favorite non-hypercar McLaren.

I drove a MP4 12 c on a track day rental best 500 bucks ever paid
8 minutes in before he stops listening to himself, trying hard, to wax poetic and finally gives it some beans. Unfortunately, those few seconds were extremely fleeting.

Two reasons why I love Mclaren.
1: it pisses ferrari off because Mclaren cars are faster (just ignore current F1 form ahem). Ferrari thinks the motor industry ows them. Nope. They act like a spoilt child.
2: I'm an aircraft engineer and I love the fact that function dictates; aerodynamics takes precedence. No aircraft was designed to look pretty, but you'll find in the aerospace world that if it looks good it will fly well. Concorde, Spitfire, SR-71. Even a Mooney.
Point proved with the 650S. It's a purist, thinking man's super car, the engineers car.

the 650S feels like a cheap General Motors move from Mclaren. add a "new" front to it so the customers will buy it again since the 12c is getting old. like rehashed content in my eyes.
