You're one of very few people I've heard from that talk about that Zen like state while riding. When I tell non riders what I do for fun they immediately say something to the effect of me being an adrenaline junkie. I'm quick to tell them that there is that element, but that it's much more about that mental flow state, self improvement, and soul cleansing feeling I get when I'm hitting my lines ripping some single track and my balance and technique are on point on the tech terrain that day. This is my church. "So, uh... you still haven't figured out what riding waves (bikes) is all about, have you? It's a state of mind. I totally agree! For awhile I thought I was the only one put motorcycle riding into terms of "Eastern Religion". I'm so glad that so many of you feel the same things. Thanks Rich for sharing this side of the experience!
I couldn’t be happier with my 2022 300rr race edition. I completely agree with just how much fun the bike is while riding it, I think about getting back on right after I have to get off! The new clutch is unbelievably light, smooth and doesn’t seem to slip at all so far and the stock seat that came on mine seems to be noticeably softer than the standard 2021 models. Very very happy with the decision
I have taken these beta reviews into consideration and I'm currently looking for one! Thanks for your honesty and doing what you do. Much respect from PA!
Love watching your videos. I own a 2022 Beta 300rr, 2022 Husky TE 250i and 2022 Sherco 300SE Factory. My son and switch back and forth. This intermediate prefers the Sherco. My son prefers the Husky but all three are absolutely amazing. I think you hit the nail on the coffin with the Beta. Very fun bike. Thanks
Love all the instructive videos you produce! Just bought a 2021 Beta 300 RR. Love the way the bike handles along with the power delivery. You were spot on in your assessment of this bike! Thanks for hard work you perform with all your videos. We are envious of the job you have and your riding skills….. keep the videos coming Rich!!!
Just bought the 2023 300 rr (non-race edition). I was torn between the race/non-race but advice given to me by an enduro racer I know who has both was that the sachs suspension and engine tuning on the non-race was much preferred on technical terrain than the Race edition, which makes sense..the race is really built and tuned for competition riding. Excited to get out there on the bike. Thanks for the great content.
well observed, such great motors and if one switches back to a TPI 2T after riding a bike like this then you really appreciated how harmonious and connected the power delivery is on carb model, and I'm convinced KYB is just the best for enduro.
As always Rich great overview of the beta. Glad to hear the very limited mechanical issues. Definitely doing my best to keep shredding. Keep up the great content.
Are you getting a 2022 Beta or moving to TM? I have a chance to pick up a TM...not sure if I wanna give up my Beta. So many awesome bikes out there!!! Thanks for all the energy you bring to the channel
Love your meditation comment. Ayrton Senna described the same thing exactly as you did regarding his lapping faster and faster during a race. Simply disappearing into the connection with the machine.
Exactly my thoughts on my 2020 beta 300 race. It ran perfect. I went back to a KTM getting the 2020 xcw 300 TPI. After 40 hours I am finally getting used to it but, I still miss the beta. I will own one again for sure I’m excited to see what you try next!
I agree with rich. I have a 2022 beta 300 race and am racing the west rounds of the hard enduro series. This bike has the best mix of traits with the fewest compromises. Nice work with the review to Rich and good for beta for getting it right in regards to the bike
I have a '21 Beta 500RR-S, I have had many dual sports but I love this one. I have found myself moving closer and closer to a dirt bike for a dual sport. I think I have found it with the Beta. I have been practicing many of your methods already and I can see the improvements already. One day I would like to try one of their 2 strokes. Keep up the great work, a BETA male!
For me too the riding and practicing is all about the Zen. I have no worry in the world when I'm there. It's nice when your bike runs well and you can forget about it.
Well to be honest I recently bought the 300, 2022 race edition model and since I got it I just can't stop riding. I see my hour counter rising without being aware of it. I'm riding in low altitude and didn't change anything on the carb. For me it's very good for now but i ordered some needles and jet to adapt in case of necessity. The new diaphragm clutch is very good but set in normal position when the bike is new. I haven' t tried the soft position yet. All I can say is that I love this bike so much better than my 21' Sherco or previous KTM. I only ride 2 strokes in 300cc. And this bike is by far my favorite. What I would like to compare with is the latest Rieju 300 MR pro model. Just for fun. I love carbs bikes.
@@TheTrailmeister Take a look on the MR 300 Pro. It looks to be a strong bike with very good equipment ( high range KYB and Shock, X-trig, goldspeed alooys...). Probably some adjustments with the starter but for what I can see it's a very good bike for the price.
FYI, I set the clutch on my beta to the softest setting and it's great, very light and no slippage. Go for it. I also have the new race model.. only thing I'll change is a high comp head to try get some bottom end back..I found my older 16 model hand a little more grunt down low. Other than that it's fantastic..and the kyb forks are unreal after about the 20hr mark
I agree soooo much with your statement "this bike reminds me of why I love riding" my latest husky was not even close to the greatness of my 21 beta 300RR!
Your content is extraordinary! I'm a newbie and your channel is one of the few REALLY good ones. So thank you! I'm about to buy a bike, and I had hoped you would have mentioned number of oil changes, filter changes and valve adjustments during these hours. Can you tell a little about that? Thanks!
I’m getting close to 400 hours on my 18 300rr. I have minimal complaints aside from the brittle plastic and minor wiring issues. The bike always brings me to a place of joy, whatever style of riding I'm doing. Additionally, it’s nice to have something a bit different from the crowd of orange and white bikes here in New England.
Have the same bike too, apart from Suzuki needle and springs and valving for my weight and riding , I tried adjusting few things like gearing and bar position, ended up back to stock, so yes it pays to just leave them alone sometimes , really happy I bought one👍
Awesome review Rich, I love to hear someone saying all the same things I feel makes the beta so great. I think out of all the 300 2 strokes the Betas catch more negative reviews just because they are so different, and now I can say "in your face haters!" 😂 Keep the great videos coming!
I enjoy your videos and find them really insightful. I just made the decision that I’m gonna pick up either a GasGas EC300 or Beta 300 RR (non-race) in the next year to start doing more technical riding. I currently have a 2004 KTM 450 MXC that I love, and just came back from a long week of desert riding where I left feeling like I’d want something smaller. Do you have any advice on which of these bikes might be better for a beginner to the medium-hard enduro riding game? I like the TPI for its ability to adjust for altitude on the fly (I was riding from 4-9k every day) but the beta seems a lot simpler which could be an advantage for sure.
Yeah buddy that was a perfect explanation of being in the zone. That being said I'm a newbie and have never been there with a bike like yourself but I hope to one day. My first real bike is a 22 beta xtrainer 300 and the more I ride it the more I love it but it did have a bad wiring harness from the factory and as typical the dash doesn't work. I deleted the OI knowing it would probably fail as well. Beta could step up their game in the electronics department. Thanks for another great vid!
Little late on this but thank you for the video i'm on a 2019 Husqvarna fe350 and i'm looking to try out a modern 2 stroke the beta really catches my eye with not only the looks but the kyb does it for me and i'm pretty sure it has a kyb shock now as well for 2023. I really like that it still has a carb that with the kyb and just the overall look of the bike makes me want the beta really bad lol
Many thanks for this vidéo and your statements very usefulls for me! I own a KTM 350 4 strokes and wondering if buying a 2 strokes… Your video and the comments are confirming me for a 2 strokes, a Beta, and maybe a 250 or 200 RR. Thanks again from France!
Personally having 2017 te300 2018 tx300 and 2020 tx300i about 500 hrs between them all. Ive ridden the betas and they always have a surprisingly great feeling. staying carb is king as Rich brags the most about how the beta 300 carb runs soo good consistently and I know first had what hes talking about. the new tpi bikes are junk and as far as the legendary 300 performance is concerned they are going back wards with tpi. Im selling my 2020 300 tpi simply because it has half the low end of my carb bikes and if you do hard enduro slow tech you are likely to feel the same way. kinda as rich says, diaphragm clutches are king. Brembo & magura is king. due to my carple tunnel issues i have to stay with the best balanced engine. (ktm/husky) I HEAR KTM/HUSKY 2023 IS GOING TO THROTTLE BODY INJECTION WHICH COULD HELP ALOT BUT I STILL DOUBT IT WILL BRING THE 300 LEDGEND BACK THAT BRAND.
The state of mind you describe at 3:37 is quite common for track riders. You are just so close to the edge, there is so much happening between you, the machine and the track and you need to react so quickly, your conscious mind is insufficient to deal with it. That is when you strip all the extra stuff away and your conscious and subconscious works in unison at solving the problem, in a way, it is the ultimate freedom, I'm quite jealous that you can get there doing enduro, as getting on a track is not just an afternoon activity.
BETA's #1 Issue is definitely the limited turning radius, it can be modified as I have my 200RR. The unfortunate problem is why BETA doesn't correct this issue making it a near-perfect out of the crate enduro?
Those bikes are phenomenal and that is basically the only two complaints I have had as well. Other than maybe the amount of wiring/connections on a race edition. Dielectric is the answer if riding in wet terrain
On my 3rd Beta one 4T and now on my 2nd 300 2T. The first 300 RR 2T was great, setup the carb for my PNW area and it worked great, only once I got up high enough elevation where I should have changed jetting but was too lazy. Biked work, just not as good. My 2nd Beta a 21 300 RR is great in the low RPM but have yet to sort it out from mid rpm and up. Going up from 162 main to 165 to see what that does. I have also ordered a SC2 so hopefully that will keep me riding more and wrenching a little less. FWIW the 21 Beta felt like it had a harder clutch pull from my 2017. I put on a Clake One-Light and have been very happy ever since. Would I buy another Beta, hell yah. Would like to try a 200RR to see if my lazy riding style would mesh with it or if it's another 300RR. Keep these vids coming.
I got the 250 RR Racing in 2015, got no major problems, rode and loved it till January and now I ride a 300RR Racing 2022. I loved the new bike from the first second and I think my next bike will be a beta again.
Dude, I refer to racing my car as my ZEN. People think it's a rush, no, it's not... it's a personal challenge, I'm there driving, not thinking, just reacting... brain in a happy place. I so get what you're saying about being in peace while riding hard!!!!!!
I have a 2022 beta 300rr race, and it is that good! Maybe we should keep this a secret so we don’t mess up a good thing! When companies get too big bad things happen.
I went on a race last weekend against a Beta...mine was a 2000 Kawasaki KMX 125, wow the Beta was so quick...my friend won the race. Does the Beta have parts available?
@6:05 I see your rear brake master is chewing into the swingarm, same as my '18 model. After being on a few other different Euro bikes over the years, I have to agree with every point you have made on your Beta, good and bad. It seems that parts pricing, availability and support is still worlds apart from what us Aussie Beta owners have experienced over the last 4-5 years. Great video as always Rich!
Hey Rich, have you had any main bearing issues with the 300rr's? I have a 2020 200 with about 80 hours with no problems and just picked up a used 2020 300rr with only 5 hours (it's essentially new). How concerned are you about the main bearing thing?
I have a 2022 husqvarna te300i and I bought my wife a 2022 beta xtrainer 300 and honestly I like riding the better more but the husky is better built Definitely considering a 2023 beta 300rr or race edition
"Beta male forever", Haha don't know about that but it certainly appears you have "Mastered Beta"! I love my Beta maybe too much! Keep up the great content my next rear tire is an IRC JX8 Gekkota Gummy Rear Tire! Still chewing on a Motoz so far my favorite but ready to try JX8.
And I find myself lucky enough to live near a Beta dealer, and not have a 300 two-stroke yet! Gotta break in a big ole 4 banger first, but someone along the way said I needed both. 😉
Do you know the difference between NECJ and NECW needle? I already ordered NECJ and not sure if will be ok for Keihin 36mm, most I see they are using it on 38mm.
I'm wondering if you've ever had to avoid hitting those funny dogs that insist on standing right in the way, it almost seems like they were just messing with you as they would get out of the way at the last second.
Are you gonna be riding a Beta in 2023? If I recall correctly you had a high praise for the Sherco as well at 50hrs. You're a great rider, I respect your opinion. But a truly unbiased opinion is difficult to come bye. At sum point along the line you had to put sum skin in the gm. I've been enjoying your videos for a few yrs, but I haven't seen you ride the same brand for 2 consecutive yrs yet. So will we see you on a Beta in 23?
I had high praise for the Sherco, Gas Gas, Ktm, Tm, Husky, and Beta. As I said in my comparisons each bike has its own pros and cons. Truthfully I would pick a different bike for every race. For example last weekend at the US Hard Enduro in Montana. I’d probably choose the TM. It has more top and power than any bike and would be great for hill climbs. If the race didn’t have much elevation change but was extremely technical I’d probably choose the Sherco. It lugs better than any other brand. If I was racing a race like sea a sky, I’d probably use a KTM branded machine. Due to the huge elevation change going from sea level to 10,000 feet. Also the extremely strong clutch. If I was to choose a bike for having fun and getting Instagram clips which is mostly what I do I pick the Beta. That being said my plan is to compare the 21 to the 22 beta due to all the changes that they’ve made. Then we continue testing different brands.
We’ll find out! I’d be willing to bet most guys don’t have the ability to feel 3 hp. Might even make the engine more tractable and Hard Enduro situations.
It runs great at 10k. Less power just like any bike but very similar. This was shot at 10k ua-cam.com/video/gUneKxpokWg/v-deo.html Everything else is shot at about 5k. With a little air screw adjustment it’s dialed

Reading Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance right now. Fantastic book and this is exactly what it’s about.
Great review Rich! Even before watching this, I was considering the Beta as my next bike to try out.
Thanks Brad! I’m loving it for sure!
Brad you should get a dual sport beta and do more skits going to Starbucks lol

Would you recommend an upgrade to a newer racing model with KYB suspension over a 14 running the Sachs stuff?
Dude, I refer to racing my car as my ZEN. People think it's a rush, no, it's not... it's a personal challenge, I'm there driving, not thinking, just reacting... brain in a happy place. I so get what you're saying about being in peace while riding hard!!!!!!
Glad you connect with it!! Thanks for watching!
I agree the beta engine feels great it gas a real grunty feel but the ergos and how it turns was a deal breaker for me 😞
But each to their own 🤘🏻
Find someone who talks about you the way Rich talks about the Keihin 36mm carb😜
Love me a Keihin!
Agreed, they're awesome🤙
Thank you for the hones review Rich. Keep on ridding, keep on smiling 🙂
i have a RR 300 2022,love it,love the smooth engine,love the clutch and love the reacting of a carb,i don't love tpi's
I have a 2022 beta 300rr race, and it is that good! Maybe we should keep this a secret so we don’t mess up a good thing! When companies get too big bad things happen.
I would love to see you on a Beta 390. I think you would be pleasantly surprised. The motor is flawless.
Love to try one!
That’s actually the guard. It’s a tight fit.
Appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts
Thanks for watching!
Hey Rich, have you had any main bearing issues with the 300rr's? I have a 2020 200 with about 80 hours with no problems and just picked up a used 2020 300rr with only 5 hours (it's essentially new). How concerned are you about the main bearing thing?
I’ve had 5 betas 4 of them over 100 hours no problem. The other had no problems when I sold it at 30. 👍👍
@@IRCTireUSAMotothanks👍
Got me a 300rr beta in march.love it
I sure love my 2021 300 Race Edition. BUT I am going to install a kick starter on it for back up.
Did you kept the oil injection system? is it reliable?
I have a 2022 husqvarna te300i and I bought my wife a 2022 beta xtrainer 300 and honestly I like riding the better more but the husky is better built
Definitely considering a 2023 beta 300rr or race edition
"Beta male forever", Haha don't know about that but it certainly appears you have "Mastered Beta"! I love my Beta maybe too much! Keep up the great content my next rear tire is an IRC JX8 Gekkota Gummy Rear Tire! Still chewing on a Motoz so far my favorite but ready to try JX8.
Ive been looking for the 200rr to check out so this makes me even more pumped
Most fun bike I’ve ever ridden
thanks for this video. helps me staying calm.. waiting for my 2022 Beta X-Trainer 300. It should arrive every day .🤤
Do you know how difficult it is to listen to you and watch you conquering obstacles at the same time?
Lol!!! Thanks man! Sorry! 😂
Great video as always! Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Thanks for watching!
My dream bike one day I’ll figure out a way to get one
You gotta try the 200rr! 🤩
How do you ride so well dang bro? I need sooooo much practice
Have you had to do a top or bottom end with 200 hours? I didn't catch it if you mentioned it.
Nope. 👍 still all stock!
Thank you for all you valuable information
It's my pleasure!
What gear are you in when you double blip
And I find myself lucky enough to live near a Beta dealer, and not have a 300 two-stroke yet!
Gotta break in a big ole 4 banger first, but someone along the way said I needed both. 😉
More bikes is always good.
Do you know the difference between NECJ and NECW needle? I already ordered NECJ and not sure if will be ok for Keihin 36mm, most I see they are using it on 38mm.
The j is slightly leaner in the straight section. I run it occasionally
I'm wondering if you've ever had to avoid hitting those funny dogs that insist on standing right in the way, it almost seems like they were just messing with you as they would get out of the way at the last second.
Those are actually Cody Webbs dogs.. 😂 Cody sent them over because he was too scared of my lines.. 🤣
What is your elevation for those carb settings?
How many hours are on the bike now?
Any ideas on how to make the saddle more comfortable?
you say 2nd clip needle, but from the top or the bottom ?
I’m sure the bikes a beast, but u a darn good rider.
Is the turning radius limited because the forks hit the radiator, or is it limited by the stops and frame?
Radiator
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Thank you.
Switched to Beta myself and I gotta say the turning radius is DEFINITELY bigger.
Haha! Not great!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Take out the steering stop bolt lock nut and dent the radiators with a socket.
waiting more videos from you with beta.
How much do you weigh with full gear?
The beta 2022 model is great for enduro, some complan that the engine has lost 3 horsepower but l don’t know if thats true
We’ll find out! I’d be willing to bet most guys don’t have the ability to feel 3 hp. Might even make the engine more tractable and Hard Enduro situations.
Think I’m still going ktm 300sx 22 but finding nirvana with the beta… kudos!
Does the 300rr have a wide ratio trans like the te and xcw ??
I love my 300 for hard enduro beta for me is the best machine. Tpi are good but the feeling isn't the same, my opinion
Damn, I might add Beta to my stable then :) to join my Sherco and KTM.
I love your videos by the way.
How does it run when you go from desert to the mountains in the same day. ie 5k/ft to 10kft. jetting is only good for 5000-7500ft.
It runs great at 10k. Less power just like any bike but very similar.
This was shot at 10k
ua-cam.com/video/gUneKxpokWg/v-deo.html
Everything else is shot at about 5k. With a little air screw adjustment it’s dialed
What altitude are you at?
Try a yz250x kinda want to see a pros perspective on it
I love my Beta 200rr, but I'm a nobody rider. I'd love to see Rich on one for a day and see it perform and hear his opinion.
Maybe I’ll have to test one!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto it makes me smile more than any bike I've ever ridden! So dang FUN!
Love my 200rr as well!
3500 feet and 65F what jetting i need use?
Douse you got mad skills
Have you ever rode a yz250 with a wr transmission?
Yeah I’ve messed around a little.
recent Beta reliability issues put me away a bit for now.
Another great video !!!!
Thanks!!
U are amazing rider …
