Not surprising at all, he played as a pro for the 3 previous seasons with the Euroleague powerhouse Real Madrid. He was the youngest Euroleague MVP ever and Euroleague champion. He used to play against pros, not other kids in NCAA.
He's still exceptional regardless. Plenty of N.B.A. "rookies" have been drafted out of European pro leagues. It doesn't need saying that almost none of them are like Luka.
@@ZhangK71 nobody was 19 and MVP of Euroleague.... so there is that you know.
gospa ironija Yeah, I know
Luka is a true basketball phenom. He's like Magic and Bird in one. I realize how bold of a statement this is, but if (and when) an NBA offense thoroughly revolves around him, he will put up numbers that will ultimately elevate him to GOAT status. As for people saying he's "not very athletic"... lol! I love how leaping ability, acrobatics and powerful dunking have become the only measures of athleticism - or even the only things that the masses care about - in basketball.
Most don't understand athleticism is not jumping ability alone. Lukas crossover is nasty sauce. Pure cross, no carry over too
@joe mama too late, I already went there
It's pretty much what athleticism is though. But what separates Luka from the "athletic" players is his intelligence.
bello 23 I like him though cuz he moves kinda smooth but also has quick bursts of speed like in his step backs. Also he has bird level passing ability and he’s only 19. Although I do think he needs more all around athleticism (like vertical) if he wants to ever become a nba legend. Shouldn’t be hard to do since he’s only 19.
@@bello2389 The way the word "athleticism" has been thrown around in these discussions over the years is incomplete and incorrect. When mainstream basketball analysts, coaches and trainers refer to a player's "athleticism" they really mean two things: vertical jumping ability and speed. Of course, there is much more to true athleticism - in the traditional sense of the word - than the speed, height, distance one can propel one's body or an inanimate object. Accuracy. Dexterity. Agility. Stamina. Concentration. Vision. Plenty of other abilities/traits exude "athleticism" beyond physical strength, stature and assertion. Meanwhile, it's early.... maybe the NBA will bring out new and different dimensions to this 19 year old's game. One thing is certain: his talent is undeniable.
Dallas is lucky having him.Future Mvp and Hall of Famer
No doubt, he's got so much playmaking ability and touch. Sometimes it's just appalling to watch his artistry on the court.
1979croatia umm that’s too early too say ... it’s early in the season . We have to see how he performs if Dallas makes it to the playoffs
Yupp I'm glad to have Luka :) and no one can say now "haha the Mavs still play in the nba"
Hell of a player
Xxx Santaclaus I mean he probably will be in the hall of fame since it’s all basketball accomplishments and he already won a mvp and championship in the euro league
I see a lot of Larry bird with his His wittiness, very crafty very good feel for the game only going to get better which is scary
Doncic and Jokic making the NBA better.
@@gnomechomsky2524 Of course, they are both Serbian, ok Luka is half Serbian 😄 Bogdan Bogdanovic is the same in terms of 3 point shooting and passes.
@@SteveFox369 Luka is Slovenian.
@@SteveFox369
Lukas grandfather was immigrant from serbia not his father ! Now do the math again
Domantas Sabonis too! He's also a young very clever and skillful European player.
@@@gnomechomsky2524 Indeed. East european players are so good, as we say in France "ils puent le basket". Means they smell basket, you can switch the light, they'll be able to do lot of things. So sad we, in France, don't have the kind of players .... I'm jealous :d
If I were Cuban I'd do whatever it takes to lock Doncic down with the Mavs. He has enough talent to carry a franchise on it's back, especially as he gets older. I was so surprised he wasn't the 1st pick this year
Racist
It is really crazy how every shot he takes is like magic ^^
It's a highlight reel😂
I am mindblown. It's just absolutely ridiculous how good he is.
The way he plays is sooo enjoyable. Love it.
This kid is soooo good already! His stepback and floater look legit AF!
i love the fact how he never picks up his dribble in certain situations. He’s good!
Closest thing to Magic Johnson we've seen. 6'7", extraordinary vision, passing, handles, fast break, 3 point, short game, post-ups, floaters, space creating, James Harden step backs, wants the last shot; solid shooting percentages. Only 4 rookies have ever averaged 20-6-4. He's about to be the fifth. 19 years old. Larry Bird was a rookie at 22. Future Hall of Famer.
Dante Detorio
Luka step back is significantly more controlled than harden step back!!!
Luka's step back is for textbooks.
Harden step back can only be performed by a player in good shape and with exceptional feeling.
Best regards.
Magic johnson had no crossover or left hand. Shouldve just compared him with harden or ginobili
@Rishard Woody Luka is already a very good defender. Better than most rookies
@@Blekkkkkkkkk also wasnt a good shooter and terrible defense
@@be4unvme magic didnt have a 3 earli but neither did most. He could shoot very well though. He had a good mid range game and when he started to shoot 3s, he was quite good
Basically a 6’8 Steve Nash.
Can't imagine what kind of player he will be at 25-26. He already plays like a seasoned all star, his career seems to go extremely far (all of famer/best European ever), guys can you believe he's only 19? How many 19 years old rookies have you seen playing like that?
A mix of Bodiroga, Manu and Jokic and you get something like "Bird of 2018" .
These moves look pretty much a "state of art" moves for modern NBA and take years to master. On some of these moves he got open way more than he thought he would. Often he did another fake move when he did not need one. His offensive game is converting better than he thought it would!
In couple of months he will feel more in control, halve his turnovers and in 1-2y he will get his body strength up a bit. If he gets near average-defender status...
Carlile is sleeping with a smile on his face.
Jokic came out of nowhere, but proved that you can build around that type of a player. Luka might be a "guard version" of that "slowish" guy with great vision teammates move around and that can consistently get you a bucket against all none-elite defenders.
The off-foot euro floater against Paddy Mills was mean.
Watch some Larry Bird highlights and you will see
THE GOAT IS BACKKK
The Floater and Stepbacks....
You know you're good when you're a rookie and already have signature moves higlights compilation
His talent is unreal...I don't remember any player at this age playing sooooo goooood......UNBELIEVABLE!
High school lebron james destroyed luka easily like destroying trevor ariza's team. He scored 52 points. And the score of ariza's entire team was 52 also.
@@raymonddeguzman9041 i made a mistake in my comment!I believe luka is the most talented player that come out of Europe the last thirty years...luca isn't the kind of player that scores like crazy...He has not an athletic body, he seems slow, but there is the proof that he is genius and super talented...He controled Real Madrid in age of seventeen...He started playing there at his sixteen...He won the European cup with SLOVENIA and the Euroleague with Real Madrid...He was the MVP of European cup at his eighteen...I believe he has much more experience than any other kid at his age and i believe that in two years we will see crazy things of him...
YOU'RE BACK!!! Dude I used to watch ALL of your videos back when it was still NBAClutchtime. I was so in love with the game that I would watch your videos for hours then go outside and practice for hours! I never stopped being subscribed to you even over these last several years! Mainly because of the memory I had of NBAClutchtime. Seeing it took me back and reminded me of that love I had for the game.
If deandre had a 15 footer like amari they could damn near score at will a young luka has mastered pick an roll offense
Deandre is not following. This is problem here.
Plays like such a seasoned Vet. Special player.
Desde el viejo continente el Gran Luka D. Viene a cambiar a la NBA is the best.
Not even halfway through his rookie year and already has a sick highlight tape... #goat
Welcome back Clutch Time.💕👍
Euro Style of basketball is the new trend and this kid is a future hall of famer folks! Greetings from The Philippines!
Anyone notice but me that on all of the plays shown (and the ones I have seen while watching the games), that half of the times he drives the basket and scores he never draws a foul. I love watching basketball but the NBA refs would not hesitate to blow a whistle for a "star" or veteran. I HATE that they (the refs) call games like that all of the time. You call it for one player, you should call it on all players.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.
LIKE THIS IF YOU BELIEVE THAT.
Either nobody believes you or nobody likes you 😜
Genius.
Dallas fans is blessed to see this art of basketball!!! This is amazing, every move every step every pass is pure art! Im jelous to Dallas fans in the arena! 😊😊 His only 19 years WTF
This guy is pure gold !!
this guy amazing
Great balance, footwork, handles, shot form, should be an all star as a rookie.. definitely a future mvp candidate watch out for this dude
Very efficient and fundamentally sound player.. Good for Mavs! He is a keeper!
He’s athletic, smart, and efficient. He has such a natural feel for the game it’s insane. It seems like he knows exactly what to do at all times despite the fact he’s a rookie. This man is truly great. He’s not flashy, he doesn’t have the crazy iso moves that the “great pg’s” have in this league, but for some reason, defenders find it difficult to keep up. He will go places.
one of the futur superstars of the nba.
Dudes a baller!
That step back !!!
amazing super player
He been playing against grown men since he was younger he was more ready coming into the league than anyone in that draft
Welcome back to making these.
He's amazing
hes AMAZING
Such a great dribbler and passer
The future of the NBA forsure !
This dude is awesome
Kid's got great highlights early in his career.
Rookie of the year...and new heart throb of NBA...
Jesus, i wasnt really paying attention to Eu basketball, even tho i live in EU...I started watching this kid few months ago only because i heard his name lots of times. No wonder he was too good for Euro League. Rookie of the year, and i will put my money on it! Guy is a beast! When he gets the experience he needs in the NBA he is going to be a legend!
Luka is a beast maaaaan. Hope he retires as a maverick! Im not even a fan of the mavs but i like dirk and i can see luka leading this team in the future! Neeeeext respected superstar and hof like dirk!
Throwing up floaters like he's Tony Parker
Luka could do it all, no doubt he’s future MVP
it's nice to finally see a smart rookie. And it's great that he's on a team that understands the value of intelligent players.
He is back baby
He is so young, yet his offensive game is so well rounded and refined.
#M77L LETS GO MAVS...THE TIME IS NOW 2011 REPEAT 🏆🏀 LEAD DA PAK LUKA
EDIT: HIS FLOATERS ARE LIT...AND STEP BACK 3'S
The through the legs crossover and finish at 1.02 was arguably his best attack move so far this season. How many 6-8 guys are able to do that?
NBAClutchTime back to making videos? Dude about time, you had the best highlight videos on UA-cam.
That Doncic-Jordan pick and roll is deadly
Hes AMAZING!!!! ROTY!!!
Wish him a long long career
As a rookie, Luka can hit shots with a level of difficulty it takes most guys years if ever to develop. He’s going to be scary in his prime.
the beauty of simplicity
No media talking about this nba phenom, sport media outlets only focused on lakers and Lebum, while this kid is proving he the next Euro phenomenon.
You said that already. Calm down....he hasnt even played a year yet.
lol you guys Lebron haters always say that every regular season. Playoff Lebron comes and you guys will shut up really fast.
Beast mode. Wait until he hit them weights and get his teachings from Dirk. And get his free throws right. Didn't know he was that strong. He's only going to get better 😮😮
All those screens by dj. Dj and doncic deadly duo
Rookie of the year right here.
I don't remember seeing so many tough floaters from that far away. In awe
we have enjoyed luka doncic for 3 years in europe, now it is your turn, USA ... long life to luka doncic in the nba
Im really starting to like lucka hes bringing a i can do anything tye of feel to the gane i hooe he stays healthy
Luka Dončić je JEDINI razlog zbog kojeg mi je zao sto nema vise juge
The kid's skill is incredible. He should have a long career in this league!
I think he is next drazen petrovic
petrovic won nothing during his NBA time...but this guy will!!
Not the same playing style. Luka is so much more versatile (no disrespect) but he really is
100% future rookie of the year
I declare Luka to be the next GOAT..
Injury is his only obstacle but i don't see him getting injured coz of the way he plays.. he is not super fast and quick but he so smart and have great handles..
so skilled
Luka Magic...
at 19 years old he already has a couple of go to moves, hopefully he continues to evolve and get better.
The dude is nasty.
This dude gonna be the white Michel Jordan!
You need to get off those pills.
MJ avg. 28.3 PPG as a rookie.
don’t compare the dude on lebron,mj, and kobe please. he plays his own game
Derwin Ambojia yea he doesn’t compare at all
Nah. He's different.
Big White Cock lmao
Next generation's manu ginobili 🔥
Future star for sure
Luka’s game has a classic European flavor to it with a nice touch of swag.
That ankle breaker on Wiggins, omfg
Reminds Me Of The Great Drazen Petrovic....
Those rainbow 3s are liiiit
Que bestia !
damn! he got his own style already…unstoppable
Ever heard about Vasilis Spanoulis?
Its like hes moving at half speed so much elegance
Dallas is perfect for this guy...sometime a franchise will drafted a player that fit them like a glove.
IDK why but i want Luka to do a house tour.
username checks out
What you mean by that Lmao i dnt get it
I'm locked up they won't let me out! Youre username got me rollin
Lol
LUKA is really creative...
He was taught very well how to score. Whoever taught this kid did a good job he specializes in scoring in odd off balanced shots. Slow players can dominate too.
Congratulations Dallas! You're hoops team will be good for at least the next 15 years...
ROTY 2019 Luka Donic
This Kid is proven at 19 winning everything in Europe and now killing it in the NBA
Wonderboy
He's going to be the next Luka Doncic, that's for sure
Crazy 19 year all and cooking all stars 🤔🤔🤔
I'm a Celtics fan an I'm a huge fan luka, huge fan of Dirk too lol. How lucky is Dallas got a love the Cuban lol... Anyways this dude is a combo if Larry Bird and Dirk nba better watch out.
