One time I wrote in my A/N that my dog died right next to some other random fact I found. I love how ao3 authors just do stuff like that and it’s so fun to write
@@lavndvrrart Sorry if my initial comment was a bit crass and sudden, btw. Keeping a hold of my emotions and online image is a bit harder rn. Thank-you for the kind words 💖
when i was younger and first getting into fic, one author (i don't remember who) used to always sign off in their end notes with "comments are love!", which i liked so much i've borrowed for my own usage. because it's completely right, comments ARE love.
Thank you for this series so much. It’s so useful and just a pure delight. I also love learning peoples thought processes behind a story, research they’ve done and/or what inspired them.
EXTREMELY helpful video- I've been wanting to improve my ANs and this gave me a lot of ideas for how to do it! I think my favorite way I've used ANs so far was in a poetry collection I uploaded. I wrote the poems as a monthly challenge and didn't post most of them until much later. Each AN had me discussing the poem- what the inspiration/thought process behind it was, how well I thought it was executed, and things that I would change now that I've improved as a poet. Those AN were admittedly more self indulgent than anything, but I had a blast with them and I think they added a ton to the collection.
Your videos are absolutely incredible and have helped me so much. You deserve so many more subscribers. I’ve been writing fanfics for almost five years now and I just stared to get serious about it. Your videos are giving me the exact answers I needed to improve. I’ve never used author notes before, but I’m definitely going to start using them now❤
I like when fanfic writers put a link of fan art for their fanfic in the an's. Liking fanart used to be how I exclusively interacted with fandom, but I also appreciate that readers love their fanfics 😊 I've seen a lot of fics with links to fanart and appreciation to their readers but I read little to no fics that have "behind the scenes", "fun facts", or "research" in them. I would very much like that. I feel like I'll be the fic writer that includes what I found during my research, and what I couldn’t include. I have done comment prompts before on some original stories before.
I told my readers once in the an to grab themselves a hot chocolate and something to cuddle 😂 and yeah, I’m still laughing about it (though at the time of writing it, I whole-heartedly meant it, because I could have done with some comfort while writing that mcd-scene). Does that show how messed up my writer’s brain is?
No, it doesn't. It just has a discussion of it because I happen to stray dangerously close to the evil alter trope. I bring it up in-story to make it clear that the demon living inside a character's head should not be compared to the alters a system might have irl.

Mate your timing is perfect because my cat gets put down tomorrow 🙃
@@CoraMaria oh I’m so sorry, it’s always so hard. My dog got out down too but it’s better to think that they aren’t in pain anymore

You're helping them cope! Maybe I should do that the next time I post a super angsty chapter lol. Or tell them to grab a stress ball haha
Great advice, thank you!! I'll try my best to use it! ^^
Always glad to be helpful 😁
