  • This demonstration illustrates how organic residues are broken down in the soil by microbes. We’ll see how the carbon and nitrogen content of plant residues influences cycling rates and nitrogen availability, and how the nutritional needs of microbes drives this process. You’ll learn about decomposition at a molecular level and how it relates to residue management and carbon storage in your soils.

Thank you for your simple and effective explanation of a such complicated topic. I believe that it is very helpful for people who are completely new in this matter.

Nicely put, thank you. We can imagine how Chop and Drop in agroforestry can boost soil necromass and accelerate carbon capture in the soil. At enough levels to challenge the idea that stable carbon production is made higher by plant injection than litter decomposition. Wander if any study analyse this difference with chop and Drop management. Considering the huge biomass production in sintropic agriculture we may have here some interesting analysis.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I try to explain this to the growers I work with and I feel like as an industry we don’t discuss this enough.... great video. I will be sharing this with many growers! Side note: huge fan of Dr. Goos
