Next time, please give time stamps for the songs. Thanks and great video!
Back in 1978, I was living in a loft in NYC just above Union Square, working as a photographer. In the next loft was this crazy Japanese guy who slept all day and woke up at midnight, put on headphones and jammed for hours with the speakers turned all the way up. Ryo was just at the cutting edge of mixing guitar with electronics, and the sounds were amazing. Of course, the other (illegal) residents of our loft building had day jobs and wanted to sleep. One woman down the hall would bang on his door with a hammer until Ryo would finally hear her- he had those headphones on- and come to the door to patiently explain to her that she should be more gracious with her complaints :) Now we are both old guys with a lifetime of experiences, but I will never forget the magic of his music.
That's a helluva story
haha nice
illegal? bet there blood has been on this continent far longer than either yours... bet your the one who is far from home... check your lingo buddy … cus the children of the sun were never illegal...
@@TheUnarmedBlackManShow To say someone is illegal is not a moral judgement. It's objective if a person is an illegal immigrant based on the laws of country, whether or not those laws are cruel. I think it was included in this story to hint at the fact they couldn't call the cops on him.
@@TheUnarmedBlackManShow maybe it has nothing to even do with immigration. Either way you're a fucking pedant and that's coming from a hard lefty. It's bullshit policing like this that makes people antagonize social justice. Once again, if I say my friend is an illegal resident, that doesn't mean I hate them or look down on them or think they don't belong. It's acknowledging a fact about how they're recognized by the government in their area. Holy shit dude. Ironic thing about this is I used to hang out with illegal people all the fucking time in the last city I lived in.

RIP to a great fusion jazz legend
Ryo Kawasaki (川崎 燎, Kawasaki Ryō, born February 25, 1947) is a jazz fusion guitarist, composer and bandleader from Tokyo, Japan. He is best known as one of the first musicians to develop and popularise the fusion genre and for helping to develop the guitar synthesizer in collaboration with Roland Corporation and Korg.
Years active: 1967-present Genres: Jazz fusion
I feel my universe coming to life when this album kicks on
if you enjoy this, try Casiopea and T-Square, other great japanese fusion artists of the time. A rabbit hole worth going down.
and Masayoshi Takanaka!
dandeez tbh haven’t heard any good jazz fusion from a white person yet haha, Japanese crack it.
R.I.P. Ryo..Thank You For All The Great Music!
Appreciate the sharing of music. Fusion got such a bad wrap from critics (Still to this day) But the undermining of this movement is so goddamn stupid. They achieved so much in that window of time after Miles went electric, everything just opened the floodgates. I always look at someone suspiciously when they won't give Fusion scene their due.
+Fantomas Fanto I agree! Some of the greatest jazz ever made is fusion. Perhaps it was just bad timing? The 70's was the era in which jazz in general started to decline in popularity while truly broadening their horizon with albums like this. ;)
So true. The jazz 'purists' who looked down their noses at fusion didn't realize that fusion could be a stepping stone into classic jazz. My father was a BIG jazz fan, but it took fusion to get me more interested in his music....and he dug some fusion, too, like when Miles Davis and Donald Byrd got into it.
I don't know what's wrong with adding some spices into Jazz.
I listened a lot of Jazz when I was very young and then came straight to Fusion and I loved it.
All that stuff about critics and scenes I can't stand it Jazz to me is getting away from all that into just a flow of beauty away from all the haughty words and intellectualizing. People should just listen to it instead of thinking about it so much, I pity the people who want to write a little article when they hear this instead of move their body around and swirl into the sounds.
Barebare kun wasnt the point of jazz originally to add spices to traditional music
You are the best random missclick I have ever done. What a gold mine of music. Thanks four your uploads! :)
check out the channel provocativeeducative for more funky/jazzy with some hip hop mixed in too!
AHHHHH I found that beat!!! the 2nd to last track, bamboo child, has been sampled for hip-hop before, so obscure! I first heard it on a breaks record like twelve years ago, awesome to actually hear the original material!!!
Thought Kool G Rap straight away, and sure enough Who Sampled brings up a few.
when i heard that track i thought itd be great to sample lol. one of my faves on the album
RIP Ryo Kawasaki

Insane quality. Many thanks for sharing.
The guitar tones on this album are crazy. I feel like I found the long lost songs from Jeff Beck's "Wired" or "Blow by Blow"...I wonder if Ryo Kawasaki San influenced/inspired Jeff Beck's transformation from a 60s Brit pop rock guitarist to the fusion 70s guitarist he became legendary for. Great find! Thanks for sharing!
I got more of a Herbie Hancock Headhunters vibe off of it, but you're right too.
Definitely gives me the Jeff Beck's Wired-vibe.
Sounds absolutely nothing like Jeff Beck lmfao.
Joe, you blow
I'm with Joe on it. Beck is in class of his own, truly one of a kind player. To untrained ear tone or vibe the guitarist here is giving may sound akin but in reality it's nowhere near.
woowwowoowow, my very cap of tea! thanks for sharing!
Oh wow! Haven't listened to this in a while, thanks for the upload good sir! Cheers
Marcel, you're awesome. I work to the music on ur profile all the time!
Superb album! Brilliant adventure in sound. I'll take mid-70's jazz fusion any day, all day long.
New favorite channel.
Man, this is so nice. Thanks for the good Fusion, Marcel.
+Frost Without wanting to desperately self-promote, you should definitely check out my 'Japanese jazz fusion compilation 1' video if you're into jazz-fusion! ;)
I'm gonna check it right now! : )
You have excellent taste! Thx for sharing
This awesome album reminds me the first hazelnut I had when I was very young... Thanks
please explain.
Ardilla = chipmunk
I have no idea what he means with this joke but it's very funny...
sounds like wittgenstein but ok
GTA IV got me into David Axelrod. I remember Raisins from this album fondly because of it too. That game had such a good jazz fusion station.
yes that's how i finally found out exactly what jazz fusion was! it was a great stepping stone
a lot of great music I didnt hear about. Great channel and thanx for the uploads :)
thx for the great uploads....they make my painting sessions so much more .....hm.....floating?;-)

RIP RYO
RIP... :-(
Esto es un orgasmo sonoro
Rest Easy
The old adage is true, you are always 3 clicks away from a nazi on UA-cam. You're also 2 clicks away from a banger 70s Jazz fusion album, so in the end it's pretty ok
Tank you
Oh no..i swallowed the funk. Now it's growing inside me and a groove train is bout to blow straight out my ass...
RIP
I love third track
this is HOT
I'd flip out if I cut open a fruit and saw that inside!
You must obey all signs or notices regarding your route 🚘🙇👤

GTA 4
Yup, R* was so bold to include Raisins (among many other tracks) on the OST.
240p? meh.
A complete Herbie Hancock/Miles Davis wannabe.
JOE BLOW ur an angry person
what kind of name is Joe blow anyway?
jajajajajajajaja
since Herbie plays keys and Miles Plays Trumpet and Ryo plays guitar that is a rediculous comment.
