Its just Ghost c: the BC part was forced onto them for playing on american radio cuz the christians got pissy. It took till Meliora for them to be able to drop it.
Nah pro memoria is the only real emo song, just look at the lyrics and musical composure. Death Knell and Secular Haze are gloomy and protometal, Haze is more supposed to be found footage of a 70s cult, and Knell along with all of Opus is supposed to be a grandfather to metal type of sound. Which needless to say is very very far from emo. Life Eternal is also supposed to be Culty, in the vain of like Heavens Gate, along with being a love letter to the fans primarily. Lyrically and musically also far from emo music. Compare any of these songs to say we stitch these wounds or black parade and pro memoria is still the only one close to those. And that is only lyrically. Even dipping into screamo like any pierce the veil song. Even then I’d argue memoria is still far outside the realm of emo, its just the way the song is presented. What with how he pronounces dying, lucifer, and that white suite in the live video. Its ballad like and a bit strange, but still uniquely Ghost. They’re talking about the black plague still and how you cannot forget nor escape it. Still closer to a modern ABBA than darker BVB. Just because the lyrics are overtly talking about death as a friend, and its sweet almost somber sound does not make it emo. I have never heard a song thats in that genre that sounds anywhere close to Ghost. Heretic.
Fun as hell to sing. I love the second verse's soft, devious tone
This song is so underrated compared to some ghost songs that aren’t as heavy and lyrically fun to sing.
Ghost BC and black sabbath would be cool concert.

I am 44 and hadn't heard of ghost BC til I was like 36.

Sounds very sad and emo lol. I feel like secular haze pro memoria and life eternal are the only actual real emo and intentionally emo ones.
