Amazing, Dave! You're now doing things with TK9 that I never thought of. It takes someone like you to figure out what's possible and then explain it to the rest of us.

Thanks Dave. This is a good tutorial to use the new feature of using PS action with TK9. But one question. Does it make sense to copy the both lines of David Tillett's Close Panel action? I think, it's better to insert the calling of the Close Panel action in own actions. That reduces the code redundaces and save time if there has to be done any changes on the code.

Not sure about that. I need to think about it.

It is swings and roundabouts. The reason for having a separate action to tidy up at the start of an action was exactly the one you mentioned, easy to change in one place if something needs changing. And there was a change during development, one simple change not lots. On the other hand it means there is a dependency and some people have changed things so that the Close Panels action cannot be played, so from the perspective of putting actions out into the wild it might have been better to make every action self contained. For someone writing their own actions with no intent to distribute then having small separate actions that can be used as building blocks is a good idea. Just remember to start your actions with some way of closing any open panels, otherwise may find sub panels being displayed on top of each other which is confusing.

@@datstheone1 Thanks for clarification. At the beginning I also had error messages regarding the "Close Panel" action because I had only installed the BlendIf action set.
But little by little I saw how it all worked. I used to program applications and macros for MS Word, MS Access, Lotus Domino, etc. myself and back then the goal was to have as little code redundancy as possible to make it easier to maintain. That is still in me today.
When I create my own actions for the TK9, I will think about how to organize it. I will probably create an action set called "Tools" with actions that I will then use again and again in other actions.

Good info as always. I got the TK9 v3 upgrade same day it came out. Learned from you the step-by-step to add these three new ones (easy), and also how to set the action button color which I was looking for. Thanks!

Dave, thanks again for yet another brilliant instructional video. The sheer number of actions you have brings up the subject of how you would logically group and categorize all these actions into the TK actions panels. We have discussed this subject in our TK study group here in Tucson. The screen real estate of a dual monitor setup would be fantastic in this regard.

Recording actions via TK9 is indeed a huge advancement Dave.Thank you for another comprehensive and clear tutorial. I am glad I made 2 of the actions as we went along before finding you’d generously supplied them! I learned more by ‘doing and watching’ rather than just watching.

It's not really, but there is a learning curve. Once you make a few actions you will hopefully get proficient at it.

If you find it complicated just forget about the new functionality around creating actions, the core functionality of TK9 is more straightforward I think

The amount of features that the TK9 panels offer can be overwhelming at first. I felt the same way at first, but the longer I work with it, the more I appreciate TK9.

I downloaded and installed your actions but they are not working. I have tried to update TK9 to V 3.0 from the link from Sean Bagshaw but I only get V 2.0. No reply from Sean about this issue.

You should have got an email from Tony Kuyper giving you the codes to get 50% discount off the purchase of the V3 upgrade. The extra Button by Button videos are free and a separate email was sent out giving a link to download these.

I have TK9 v 3 and PS 25.12.0, but some actions works not in the german PS. For example: "BC Landscape non-eng". The prompt: "Target function not found: spanDUPLAYER". Can anyone help?

    • @datstheone1
      @datstheone1 День тому +1

Have you installed all the example actions? TK Actions needs to be installed as there are calls to the Close Panels action in that action set.I have tested this with all the TK9 panels set to German, so looks like it is an issue with German PS. I can't find the error via Google. Have you managed to record and run any actions of your own? May be easier if you contact me via the email address in the Examples documentation.

@@datstheone1 Hallo David, thanks for your response! Sorry, the error was behind the computer... I only use the Combo-Panel and not the Cx-Panel. That's why i haven't updated the Cx-Panel. Just works fine. Many thanks for your great work!!! I have been using TK since version 5 and it is a great time saver.

@@tom_tauber Good to hear that you have fixed it. Actions recorded using Cx, it just needs to be installed for them to work, no need to add it to your workspace.
