Hi Tony, i think you have one (ore more) broken wire inside the rectangular rubber hose where it is attach to the carriage ( the rubber tube is lying in a werry award position - not how it is supposed be ) I bet it is the wire that goes to the golden contacts in front of the carriage (that samples each "selection-ferrite-memory-core-contact" as the carriage travels along. The controlcenter is sending a pulse and analysing the return signal in order to determine the direction of the magnetic field in the ferrite core ( that stores the song that was selected ), if that wire is broken the controlcenter is not able to check the magnetic status of each ferrite-core as the carriage travels along. ( you can not see the ferittecores - they are behind the PCB whit all the golden contacts below the record-magazine. Good Luck :-)

Thank you very much for taking the time, Axel. It's in a sorry state and packed away at the moment, but you've given me another lead to try to solve the problem. I'll be sure to post the solution, and hope this is it! Regards, Tony.

have you check capacitors and resistors at the select board ?!! Guess the memory is not read out correctly

Many thanks. Yes, we changed the capacitors and some of the resistors. It's in storage now though as we do some house renovations. Will be back to trying to solve it on the new year!

Hi, check value on large brownish coloured resistor beside the blue capacitor, and replace if necessary i think that was the problem with a previous machine I had

It has the same mechanism as my technics 110 disc changer. Can't believe that is such old tech.

This mechanism is based on the Seeburg jukeboxes that used this kind of mechanism from 1949. It's old tech indeed

Have a similar problem. But here's a few things that might help you along a bit.
The credit unit has two basic functions. One is to subtract a credit when you make a selection. That is what the wheels do on the back. Put money in and the wheels go clockwise - make a selection and they reverse direction until you run out of credit. It's other function that one that you maybe need to look at, and that is the selection.
That lever on the front and the above contacts are what should provide a pulse through to the toroid coils via the selection buttons. Looking at your video I do not see the selection solenoid operating at all. Without that operation the contacts don't make, no pulse, no selection, carriage goes off looking, can't find anything, tries again and then shuts down.
My problem is a bit different - bought the machine with the wrong credit unit.

Huge thanks for taking the time, Jon. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a load of new capacitors and started swapping them out. Unfortunately, despite the third swap being with a capacitor of exactly the same values, the carriage stopped moving at all. So I popped the old one back in, but still nothing! I'll not let it beat me, but I feel I've taken a step back instead of forward! Re the coin op. Mine has been disabled since I bought it, so that isn't the problem - at least not directly - as it was working fine until I moved it. Love the lead you've given me, though, and will report back when I've had another go at it over Christmas. Thank you!

The NSM credit units used in these jukeboxes are all the same between 1969 - 1976. There are some changes made over the years but it's a Universal part in general.

You're substraction solenoid in the credit box does not attract when a selection is made, so my guess is that contact blade N 4 on the left side of the record magazine is not closing / is dirty or the substraction solenoid itself is broken. Try the following, make a selection but don't press A or B yet, then press the substraction solenoid and at the same time press the A or B button on the keyboard. Does it find the chosen record now?
P.s. just read that the cariage does not travel anymore, does the motor spins? And does it start searchin when you press the reject button located by the volume switches?
Keep in mind that the cariage does not start searchin when the amplifiers are disconnected
    Good Luck
