My mom hadn't seen her home country since she left it in 1942. My sister was able to take her back there and spent a glorious 2 weeks seeing all the places that my mom remembered from her childhood... the window where she threw out the family's dinner ham to feed the dogs below; the apple orchard where the farmer went after them with buckshot (mom was able to climb the highest so she never got discovered); the river she used to swim in, etc. It was such a lovely trip down memory lane for my mom. She passed away a couple years later, and so we were happy that Mom got to see the place where she was born & relive her childhood memories before her health took a turn.
This is litreally everyone's dream. Just paying back what they had to do just to raise us.
