Statuskuo75 How about when digital becomes vastly superior in quality in every aspect? The primary purpose for inventing anamorphic systems was to gain more resolution out of a 35mm frame of film in a wide aspect ratio.
@@salsun7437it won’t. We’re nowhere near IMAX or 5 perf 70mm Even the new sphere 18k cant compare. 35mm maybe but larger film formats no way. Eventually maybe, but its gonna be a while. . .
the thing about film cameras, is that a 30 year old model does exactly the same as a 2 yar old model. as long as it runs the film at a proper and constant speed, and does it in silence, there really isn't much room for improvement.
panavision is without hasitation SUBLIME the best there is i recorded a little movie onve with the panavision platinum when i rented the camera they gave me a lot of extras no charge! trust me if you ever want to film something do it with panavision camera's and lenses!!
Panavision is simply the best! There is absolutely no substitute. If I were a producer or director, I would not make a film unless I had Panavision equipment.
Yes is it true that Panavision lenses will be around as long as there are people making movies but the rental business is going to fall apart in the future. This is because there will no longer be a need to rent gear anymore, everyone will just buy it. Panavision lenses are high quality but are not of the highest quality, that is where Leica will come in with their Summilux-C line up and new lenses that are currently being developed.
I don't think anyone owns a Panavision camera aside from Panavision itself. The company rents the equipent. It would make no sense to pay $500,000 to own a camera like that. Sony CineAlta 24P series are a cheaper alternative, although the top of the line CineAlta with the full frame 35mm size sensor still goes for $250,000. And the RED ONE is really cheap. I think $25,000 for a basic system. People still rent them though, I think. Too expensive to own.
@ surferboy36O Incredibly cheap? 35mm? I'm not sure how those words go together, but I wouldn't bother-prices of 35mm cameras are constatnly falling. But film stock and processing are still a significant cost. If you want cheap, shoot digital. If you want film, shoot film.
Panavision is finished because they do not develop new produces any more, the likes of RED with the epic and Sony with the f65 are taking over the industry.
Beautiful piece for cinematography that even in 2024 stills being the jewel of the crown.
@Trailltrader well that sucks...
Years ago growing up, Panavision meant scope movies. Their anamorphics are amazing. And is the only reason why digital will not overtake it.

I was lucky enough to get behind a panaflex gII a while back, amazing machine!
This comment is now further from the present than this video was from its making
Panavisions rentals are from 1000-2000$
A day. Very expensive but everyone would want those for a video camera!
Hey Panavision.
Do I have to run this through topaz AI or will you please do a quality upload?
You must have a better quality copy of this promo.
Panavision is the best, it will never fall!

Panavision sucks, ARRI the best
Now that Ron Howard is using ARRI ALEXA cameras starting with "Rush (2013)".
I used a Arri Alexa to record myself dildoing. Looking pretty good until I squirted all over the camera and it broke.

I'm building myself my own increadibly cheap 35mm filming camera, I wanna hear what you people think.
GO CANON! (for us normal people who cant afford super high quality film cameras)
1:36 I Only Have Eyes For You - The Flamingos
Great Song By The Way
@SilentWeeks28 And you must insure the equipment.
Does Panavision ever really need to promote itself?
Why was there no mention of Tak Migashima?
What films are listed in this demo?
PANAVISION uses digital cinema or still 35mm film ?
They offer both.
I still love some panavision
CANON IS SO MUCH BETTER. HOORAY DSLR'S!... joking, screw that shit. Arri and Pana all the way.
Best camera
They never saw IMAX 15/70 coming
IMAX 15/70 is the undefeated champion

Now I remember why Mel Gibson was such a huge sex symbol all those years ago. He did not age well.
