Hi after you have the design marked on a piece of wood and just before you do whats on this video...any suggestion on the way of grinding to shape the design. Etc electricallly or manually...thanks
I've seen people use double-sided tape. I did a similar project once with gluing multiple layers of newspaper to the baseboard and then the piece to the newspaper. it will hold it, and when done, you can easily wedge under the piece and the layers of newspaper will separate.
Simply ... WOW !!!
Really beautiful work! I'd say you are a master carver! Thank you.

What do you use to hold the working piece to the wood underneath to keep it from moving?

Looks almost like an Acanthus leaf from Richard Glazier's Book Of Ornament...
Is this mahogany?
But, how did you carve out the underside when the piece was so thin???
JIM
what kind of wood is it?
Nice question.
my guess would be mahogany
some form of an acanthus leaf. Mary May wrote a book/guide covering the acanthus leaf. www.marymaycarving.com/carvingschool/the-acanthus-leaf/
oak, it looks too dense to be mahogony
Looks like peach
