Is it always good practice to have multiple account default conversion goals or just a single one? If there are multiple which one does Google know to optimise towards the most?
Have you found any good videos that do go into the details of setting up a new conversion goal? Or content that helps newer users understand the different types and why you would choose one over the other. Thanks!
GA4 isn’t as good as Google ads in tracking leads” ? I think is the opposite based on the conversion modeling GA4 uses and it also uses DDA. You can also implement EC in GA4.
Hi Regina! As I understand, in Google Ads conversion goals/categories are the type or category of conversions (eg. Purchase, Add to cart), while conversion actions are the individual conversion events you add under the categories. When you went to Campaign specific conversion settings, you only saw 2 extra selectable conversions, because the account default conversions are already included in the campaign, and they can't be turned off at the campaign level.
When Google Ads is linked to GA4 is it best for the algorithm to use conversion events in GA4 or creating separate conversions/tags? Does the answer differ for primary and secondary Google Ads conversions?
Hey Karen! Here's what our senior strategist Glen had to say: Solutions 8 policy is to generate conversion actions inside the Google Ads interface, and use that conversion. The reason being, we can use click through, view through, and engaged view conversion windows and a lot more flexibility in those settings, as well as counting every or one. We always make this primary. We do however import GA4 conversions, but if they are the same as the one created in the Google Ads interface, we make the GA4 imported conversion a secondary conversion, just to compare the data between the primary and secondary. We always see a discrepancy between the 2 conversion actions, and more often than not, the Google Ads conversion action has better reporting than the imported GA4 conversion action. You can always compare Google in-app metrics for campaigns by making a custom column, with the all conversions metric and just choosing the secondary action, and have that beside the normal conversion column, to compare how the 2 conversion actions are faring against each other.
@@glenfromsol8 This s great. Thanks! I am normally on the GA4 side and have seen little if the Ads side so this helps me understand how they work together.

Karen, if that is to confusing for you, reach out and I can explain in more details if you are lost.
