Wow thank you so much. I’ve always wanted an in-depth guide to these anthologies since there’s just no way to know how many stories are good or what kind of sensibilities were driving the selection. This is invaluable.

Some great choices here. Such gems inside those anthologies. The “short short” stories anthology doesn’t get talked about a lot so I was especially pleased to see this.
I think a more recent essential anthology is "Mirrorshades" by Bruce Sterling. An interesting (but maybe not essential) anthology series is the 4-part "Quark" series by Samuel Delany.
The Science Fiction Hall of Fame volumes are in print with the exception of volume 3. I am not sure why they took that out of print, and I doubt it will be reprinted. It has been a lot of years since it was last in bookstores.
I have started a collection of these anthologies, and I really love Dozois and Hartwell. Mike Ashley is another I really enjoy. Great video, Steve!!
