INCREDIBLE! Mont Saint Michel (France Motorhome Trip)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 жов 2023
- Our last stop in Normandy is the spectacular Mont-Saint-Michel. A magical island topped by a gravity-defying abbey, the Mont-Saint-Michel and its Bay count among France's most stunning sights. For centuries one of Europe's major pilgrimage destinations, this holy island is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as is its breathtaking bay. In this video we show you where we parked our motorhome to spend the night near the island and explore the vicinity by bicycle.

Welcome! We’re Andre and Lisa. A married South African couple who has been travelling together for almost 20 years, to more than 50 countries. In 2017 we took stock of our life and made the decision to 'retire early'. We gave up our professional careers and all our personal possessions in order to explore the world as full-time nomads. PLEASE REMEMBER:
We make vlogs, not travel guides. We don't film everything we see or do. Our videos cannot tell every story or show every place we visit. Our videos are merely a short snippet of sometimes a week's worth of life on the road and it's intended to show our experience as full-time travelers. As we're constantly on the move it's also not always possible to take the time to research every single location. We really appreciate when people offer us advice or make suggestions for our next visit. Please don't make assumptions or be rude. To us or to each other.

You are getting very professional with the filming and editing, Andre 👍 It's good to see you enjoying your bike Lisa 😊
Thanks Gary! Now that we have Patreon members we have to up our game! 😜😂
Exactly my thoughts. I've been following them for a while now and I can see every clip getting better and more professional. I have seen many photos and videos of this place in the past but for me this is the best so far. It is not only photos and video angles and masterful drone shots, but editing has definitely reached another level. Very appropriate background music and humoristic way of Andre's mythology explanation and Lisa's smiles and always positive attitude makes these video clips one of the most interesting out there. I also noticed Andre's positivity went up a notch since Lisa came back from her short break visiting her family in England. Somehow they look like they both recharged their batteries and they are full of energy and creativity. Bless them and their work for they allow us to travel with them without leaving our homes.
@@beograd07 Thank you! It's nice when one's efforts are appreciated. We do really strive to constantly improve. Sometimes it's more difficult to make an interesting video if nothing of interest happens. But it's still our life and our vlog and we enjoy sharing it regardless. That just mean not every video will be good. It's a lot of work though and we really feel inspired if more people watch and enjoy our content.
Stunning place. Drone shots are amazing Andre. You're doing great on the bike Lisa. 👍
Thanks Andy! This was a fun place to cycle! 😍
Enjoy Brittany, (my Family live in all areas of the department), Great drone footage and music btw. Travel safe!
Thank you so much for your comment! ❤️
Content de vous voir heureux chez nous... profitez en bien
Alow Thank you for sharing a magnificent, magical place. worthy of a fairy tale❤
Glad you enjoyed it! 😋
Thank you for the info. Enjoy your trips.
Yes very cool out there. But the air very fresh.
Especially this time of the year it can change very quickly!
Great vid as always guys 😀👍… glad Lisa is looking happier on her bike 😊🇬🇧x
Thanks! 👍😋 As long as the path is flat(ish) all is good!
I love video with you 💕 pozdrav iz Srbije
Thank you! ❤
Mont St Michel is so beautiful. You were lucky with the crowd. Nice video.👍👍 Next stop the Dolmen??
Thanks! Helps to be there early morning and late afternoon. Yes, they're on our list! 😊
That's an incredible find, I will put it on the list of places to visit on my way down to the south. A fab vid anyway 😀😀😀👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Best to visit very late in the day and preferably shoulder season. 10k people a day on avg.. That's intense.
We visited Normandy in 2008 by car from Denmark, and also went to the WWII beaches, Omaha beach, Pegasus bridge, WWII cemeteries, museums and Mont-Saint-Michel. Looks like a new road now. It was fantastic.
It's a wonderful region to explore by motorhome. We were probably marginally too late for the best weather, but we'll be back!
Enjoyed the video, agree the place is beautiful, we were dissapointed with the commercial aspect to the place. However it runs a distant second to Saint Michaels Mount in Cornwall England for us, Hope you enjoy Dinan a real gem of Brittany
Thanks Michael, we've now had to add that to our list for when we one day get to the UK! It looks magnificent, thank you for the suggestion! 👍😊
Visited many many years ago, and at the last minute decided to stay for the night. Wasn't that expensive that time (we were backpacking...)
Enjoying it without people has been one of the highlights of our travels... Watching the tide come in from way up in the abbey was amazing!
Oh wow, that must have been an incredible experience! Next time we'd love to return with even more time to spend there. Thanks for watching! 😍
AH thank you, as ever, Andre and Lisa - a cracking film again, Mount Saint Michelle looks absolutely incredible - the drone footage, particularly the cycling bit was amazing. You set a high bar! We really hope your channel keeps on growing. As ever, our UA-cam friends - keep on with the happy travels and lovely films. We're sailing straight past France in December, so it will be a while before we get there but it looks brilliant in a motorhome. From a wet and blustery Ireland (but another incredible park up!) Kevin & Nicky x
Thank you! Wish we can say it's drier where we are... 😬☀ But we're heading south, and it already feels a lot warmer. Enjoy Ireland!
🤩 Mont Saint Michel really looks incredible. Thank you for taking us there. 👋
Thanks Rita! But promise that if you go one day you have to spend more than 1 day there to experience it without the crowds! 😜🤗
That’s a promise i’m happy to make 😜 groetjes
That was an amazing trip I'm so jealous
Next time you visit Meg you can bring the camper and join us! 😜😘
Absolutely would be the best fun.
Spot with how they look after motor home never paid for park ups once when we was there in April
Great vid again ,maybe take a look at St Malo
Thanks! Sadly, the relentless rain meant we had to change our Brittany plans a bit.
@@WeWillNomad yes we had our fair share in Black Forest and Rhineland we heading North !!!! Back home to Southport UK via Rotterdam
Hi Lovong the look and style of Mickey the bike. Please could you tell me the make and model of Mickey really interested. Have fun guys.
Thanks! Bike Mickey is a RadRunner Plus from RadPowerBikes. Sadly, RAD they are not for sale in Europe anymore. RAD bikes are only available in North America now. www.radpowerbikes.com
Beautifully shot Andre. Love the drone shots on this one. Curious what drone you use? I'm still running the original Mavic 2 Pro with ND Polarising filters. Love all your drone shots to set the scene. Great work!
Thank you, much appreciated! To give myself the best chance of legally being able to fly in most places I've stuck with the
Yeah understand. Great image quality for a small drone Andre. Yep they're great for those establishing shots. Keep up the great work you two! We also have a new appreciation of gelato ice cream and Lisa's love of pastries! Too good. @@WeWillNomad
You make wonderful movies and I'm happy to follow you! We visit France yearly since 10 years ago. We might move there when we retire... Don't know yet. (We are Swedish and live in the southern part). I'm curious about your bike - it look's perfect for us instead of bringing two bikes. What is it and where to buy it? Br, Johnny & Ewa from Sweden
Hi Johnny & Ewa. Thank you for your comment! France is really amazing and we always love our time here. The big bicycle is a RadPowerBikes Radwagon 4 and we've had it for almost 2 years. Unfortunately RadPowerBikes has suspended their sales in Europe and they are not for sale any more. However, there are other options on the market for long tail cargo bikes. You can even get one from Decathlon. All the best!
@@WeWillNomad Thanks for your reply! We will check it out! And have a happy journey in France! We will probably do an exception next year - to give Italy a chance.... We will see what happens. :) France is still there for us and we will surely get back. :) All the best to you, as well! Br, Johnny & Ewa
@@johnnyhildenborg7237 If you can avoid July, Aug then Italy is great. We really love Puglia.
@@WeWillNomad We will! We always awoid July and August on our journeys. We don't like tourist crowds and traps. :) (Yeah, of course we are tourists, as well....). Late spring and also fall is fantastic in our beloved France. We have not tested winter... yet.... :) Br, Johnny & Ewa
I must be weird. Because, I was so under-whelmed by Mont Saint Michel. Maybe it was because I had seen so many photos of it before we visited. And then when we visited it was so touristy, the few hotels on the mainland were charging crazy prices. You had to avoid Japanese tourists with camera's on most of the road leading up to the island itself. I really didn't like it. I believe there is a sister Mont Michel in Wales which I suspect is much more authentic and less of a tourist rip-off than this one. I love the architecture and the setting but in my opinion, its not worth the effort and cost of visiting. We headed down south very quickly to the lovely town of La Rochelle which has amazing history and is just wow.
Greetings to you both from Kigali in Rwanda.
Rwanda! Wow. Bet you're getting warmer weather than we are! 😋 Yes, Mont Sain Michel is a mega tourist destination and that in itself can be off-putting. It's really not our kind of place and frankly, we would have hated to visit there in any other way than we did. But timing of the season and day matters. Worth a detour? Probably not. Agree with you on La Rochelle.. We were in that area last spring. Someone mentioned Saint Michaels Mount (UK) to be incredible. That must be what you're referring to?
Saint Michaels Mount , that is the one alright. I haven't been but sense that its less touristy. Yes, I'll be watching the Rugby World Cup final at the French Cultural Center in Kigali on Saturday. Go Bokka !!!@@WeWillNomad
