My only nit pick with this amazing oc is their inscybing tool being a fountain pen it's just that grimora already has an inscrybing tool that uses ink and all the others are incredibly distinct from each other it would be weird for 2 scrybes to have effectively the same tool. In my opinion chalk would be a better alternative not only does it for fit the alchemical esthetic (at least when I think of alchemy I think chalk circles thanks to fma XP) and it's unique from the others since noone else uses anything similar to chalk
@@jakubgrono9070 ok love the visual of that 😍 but that does really fix the problem of making yhr inscrybing tool something unique XP that's alittle too close to po3's partical scanner
@@Mugsi how does one make cards with a syringe? XD unless it's like a mutation which granted would set them apart from the other scribes but the others have imscybing tools that actually make since to make cards. They all have to or could have to do with paper of some kind paint, ink, pictures (pictures covering both leshy and po3)
If he does get his own "room" that the player can run around in, I hope that it's a Jules Verne - esque lab, and the new game card is, instead of being completely locked away, in this layered puzzle box, which could possibly be it's own "Please, Don't touch Anything" kind of minigame puzzle, requiring using seperate puzzles or hints around the lab to unlock each layer, which might represent a certain element. And the final layer will be a rubik's cube puzzle, with some faint light flickering within its cracks, that represents Aether. But the problem would be that one of the pieces that is needed to complete the final puzzle and unlock the new game card, a corner piece of the cube, is in his possession. So, the true ending for that act would have you finally defeat him and now have to deal with fumbling with the cube, with only the light that was lighting the board during the actual game, to illuminate the final piece of the puzzle, similar to how the ending of the 1st act was you standing in the area where you have your own cards created and just collect the card. Maybe each side would be characterized with each scrybe, including Niphox, with the sixth one actually being a button that turns the lights off, closes the program, and giving you the card. Maybe, just like Leshy focuses on story and P03 focuses on gameplay, Niphox would focus on puzzles.
I just had an idea for a puzzle (for failling it specifically), it goes like this: [You were wandering the area for any supplies that would help you in your journey when you come across a strange looking machine with some instructions and a small screen that all it says is "*RECALIBRATE THE PRESSURE TO PROCEED*"] (After failling the puzzle) [You enter in a panic when the alarm starts to blare and starving biosynths start running at you, when or where did you mess up!?] [You werent prepared to fight yet and before you can call out to your own biosynths one of them jumps at you and knocks you on the ground, act quickly or youll get devoured!] this is when you enter in combat but your cards would be missing, and in the opposing spaces start filling with biosynths non-stop, in here you can now get up from the table and you have to look for objects in the room that you then use to kill or stall the waves of enemies, after 10 turns your deck would come back and the enemy´s cards would dissapear with the following text: [After fending of by yourself for what felt like an eternity finally your screams of help reached out to your creatures as the weakened and tired biosynths start to run away from your troops] [although you are still hurt so following battles may be more dangerous until you patch yourself up] also, im sorry if i said anything wrong, im not really cultured into steampunk and im not a native english speaker
maybe niphox’s game’s story is about collecting the components to create a world saving thing and his personality could be that he-she is a massive perfectionist when a card is not up to their standards they rip it up or discard it in a fit of anger to try again and reducing they want everything to be in their perfect image and they want to use the power of the old data to create a perfect version of inscryption in their eyes
My ideas for Niphox's minion trio/bosses: - Moby: Mechanical whale made of brass plating who acts as the old_data finder of for Niphox (like the angler, goo mage or dredger). Would be found near a dock/port area of the map world. - Clippy: Businessman-type robot that handles the making of Niphox's steampunk technology. Also obsessed with making/collecting paperclips (based off paperclip maximizer problem) and would be found at the top of his corporate building in the map world. - Mehmetal: Statue of a human formed out of many alloys and heavily rusted and missing everything below the torso. Enjoys staying in one place and is knowledgeable about the elements and the world of inscryption (based off the mechanical turk)
Moby’s gimmick: he acts as the water focused one, and in his second phase he opens his mouth and the table fills with water, making all cards rust over real life time, making you have to think very quickly Clippy’s gimmick: he focuses on the earth symbol, and every turn he reveals a new paperclip creature. A frog will eat the lowest health card on either side, prioritizing your side if a tie, a fly will nullify the next frog, and a sword will split 8 damage over all your cards (4 if two, 3 if three, 2 if four cards) Metal’s gimmick: he focuses on ether and plays only cards from other acts like g0lly. In his second phase he gets so mad he removes all cards and turns around, making another homunculus that acts as a parallel to the Moon and Limoncello fights. A giant goopy card with a ton of health that attacks everything. He breaks the wall after you destroy the card. NiPhOx’s gimmick: he occasionally reveals a small sculpture of one of the three bosses to act for him. The first phase has the first two bosses swap places between their gimmicks, the second phase is the third boss creating two weaker but still beefy cards that take up two spaces (like the golems in Grimora Mod) then continuing as he was before with all the rare cards instead of his normal gimmick, and the third phase has NiPhOx himself show up and break the table, ending the act in a fit of rage that his creations aren’t better than a regular human
I like the scrybe idea, bit complicated untill you understand it but when you do, you will get the hang of it snd create some strong strategies, just like the other scrybes
That's the hope! I discovered that Inscryption has its bases pretty well covered when it comes to resource mechanics, so I had sacrifice a little bit of simplicity for a little it of originality.
@@Orange-uh6qw It seems simple enough to me to understand through playing the game. Don't know if that means it'd be *good,* but it would be understandable for sure.
I came up with my own Scrybe as well along a few of my friends who made their own. Here's what I got down: Scrybe Of Pyromania, Flare. An entity entirely made of fire, but hidden under heavy clothing such as a cloak, bandanas and such, only his yellow eyes and the surrounding orange fire being seen. He's the leader of a cult that believes that if one thing were to be burned in fire, it would be reborn into something new from the ashes, which is technically what happens when fires get out of control and such, forest fires being an example. Under the ashes, new plant life begins to grow and the world heals. He would inscrybe his cards by burning beings in an incinerator. Flare's resource mechanic would be Ashes. He provides you with a Matchbox which you can use to burn any card you have on the deck, which would give you ashes based on that original card's cost. None/1 Blood = 4 Ashes 1 Bones = 2 Ashes 1 Power = 1 Ash 1 Gems = 2 Ashes The more flammable the thing is, the more ashes it will give. An example would be a Grizzly giving 12 Ashes. Still making up the cards, but they're all suppose to be related to Fire or Heat, mythos or not. The fodder/side deck card would be Charcoal which can be upgraded to Coal which gives more Ashes. His campaign gameplay would be top down and you can free roam in a selected area, walking 360 degrees at all times. You transverse mazes through caves, burnt landscapes and deserts to get to the next area. Card encounters would at like seeking enemies on the board, having a line of sight, and if they see you will attempt to chase you down, touching them beginning an encounter. You can always sneak past these encounters, but there are some that are unavoidable. The player's goal would be to light the Flames at three locations to begin the twisted world's rebirth, reborn from it's evil ashes into a peaceful realm. It's like a metroidvania but horror elements. His trio of minions as well, he has those. If you meet him in the normal game, he won't battle you unless you give them fuel for their tasks they have yet to complete. Blaze: A guy completely covered in soot. He makes sure Flare's incinerator. He's very bitter about stuff, that the whole cave they live in is always dirty and to that extent, him. Burnt: A guy that is constantly on fire. You only see a black figure in a ball of fire, constantly screaming. He makes sure torches are lit so the cave isn't dark. He's on fire because he just began his initiation into the Pyromania Cult. Burner: A giant magma golem deep in the caves, cracks of lava all over him. He mines into the cave they live in, which so happens to be next to a volcano. Very stoic but also very tired all the time. He would be the one of the trio that looks for the OLD_DATA for Flare. Speaking of, what does Flare want to do with the OLD_DATA? He wants to delete Inscryption himself, but would want to leave behind the OLD_DATA for others to use. To rebirth and begin a new cycle.
Personally? I'd defend the OLD_DATA until the right person comes and makes the decision with said data. I would ALSO tell them to find a new way to secure a copy of the data- actually scratch that. If someone gets a new copy, they're also marked for death. So I WOULD tell them to make sure they get every detail secured on another medium before they die. That, and make sure to keep an eye out for Gamefuna's.. backup to be specific. In other words, I'd be a sort of overseer of the systems. A bit like P03 and Leshy, but.. a sort of invisible guardian.
My idea for the "Map" part maybe he could give you an Alchemy book which allows you to combine under sertain conditions in a room. But everytime you use a page it is gone and the scrype gives you new pages and recourcess after the boss fight but you can decide if you want to use all pages or wait till you get new ones
I have a scrybe OC called Famine, The Scrybe of Null. Famine would look sort of like the starvation cards and is the one who actually made them. They were meant to be a character made specifically for the Inscryption video game to act as a final boss. Once you defeated your chosen Scrybe the island would sink into the ocean where you were meant to fight them. However since P03 cuts in you never get to. I like to imagine that after Grimora does her whole deletion thing when you sink into the ocean instead of what normally happens would famine would appear. Since Famine spends all their time in the ocean with the OLD_DATA the idea is that they would have some pretty good control of it to the point where he pauses the deletion using it capabilities. Being entirely lonely at the bottom of the ocean and pretty insane because of the OLD_DATA, Anyway he decides to fulfill his programming with a never ending boss battle as a new act. He being originally just a boss fight wouldn't have a gimmick of his own however he uses a mix of all the other scrybes gimmicks. Also using other things from the other scrybes acts. In this act Magnificus would also probably show up more.
It could be that since the game had never been allowed to be beaten everyone forgot they even existed. Everyone except Magnificus. As such he is the one to save you, but not before Famine calls him out on his plans.
I tried this once and couldn't think of anything that differed enough from the other scribes. The cool thing about Daniel Mullins's scribes is that they basically cover every aspect. If you think about it, every scribe utilizes a type of technology. Leshy utilizes natural technology: everything relating to what comes from the world itself. He also uses a lot of old-school technology too, like metal traps and cages. P03 utilizes future technology and heavy machinery. Magnificus utilizes magical technology. He even included Grimora which is more specific. She uses the technology of necromancy and everything related to death. With this its hard to come up with anything because he's pretty much chosen every type of technology possible (or impossible). He has both future and past technology with Leshy and P03. He also has most fictional technology with Magnificus. Plus, he managed to find a sweet spot where Grimora is almost very similar to Leshy, but she is different enough to be a good addition to the scribes and also has a topic diverse enough to make cards. I mean, where else do you go from there? He's included everything from the real world, past and future, everything from the fictional world, and even one intensely specific subject. Although this makes it tough, congrats on still finding an awesome scribe design. You managed to hit right in the middle of Leshy and P03 on the timeline while also tying in the gruesome theme of the game as well. Good job on this design. It's sick. By the way, for Magnificus's end battle, I think it was hinted at that his "map" would be three-dimensional, and you would be walking around it in first-person. For 6:18, you referenced three of the scribes ones, and I just wanted to give my idea on Magnificus's because he was left out. That's completely fine, by the way, because his wasn't exactly clear, with you just walking down a straight path. I'm slightly sad there wasn't a part of the game where Magnificus ruled Inscryption because it'd be cool to have a three-dimensional map, kind of like the forest at the end of Leshy's campaign. A full rendition of Grimora's would be neat too. Here's another idea for your scribe. If the campaign isn't unique enough, you could make it have an isometric view. Another idea is you could have a map that slides on some railways. I think that'd be especially cool and unique because you could have it broken-up into sections, and then have to actually interact with the map and move pieces together to get to new areas. You could use magnets for this or some other mechanic like cranks and valves. Even cooler yet, you could add momentum to the character in the world, where some sections would be able to be cranked to a certain amount and then released so that it would slingshot and send the player flying. Cranking it to different extents would send the player different distances. You could also have unique character movement where the map is divided into a grid. The player could then click on any section of this grid and their character would move there. The board could have a top, where the character piece and events are, and an underside, which would jut out from the bottom of the board pieces with lots of machinery. Then, if a player wanted to interact with a game piece it could crank something on the underside or push some button or something. The board could even be in a square that the player would be able to rotate to see different angles of. This would also translate to the Act 2 map where your scribe's area would be composed of many different islands instead of one large island. You could have jump pads and conveyor belts to get to different areas there. Also, funnily enough, while writing this I think I came up with another decent scribe design. There could be a scribe that focuses on the divine and the afterlife. This adds enough variety to distinguish itself from other scribes while also adding in the gruesome themes through the concept of eternal punishment and damnation. You could have two types of cards: good and evil. The scribe, itself, could be half divine being and half evil demon. This could even signify the effects of the old data, as all his cards used to be the purest of all creatures, but were slowly corrupted by evil like what eventually would happen to him. This would give you three different deck building options where you either make it mainly evil, mainly good, or a mix of the two. There could also be a select few cards who follow the theme of the in-between where they don't fit into either category and/or are in some sort of limbo state, like husks. Maybe even some cards that are both good and evil. The scribe's tool to make cards could be some sort of glass object that casts a light beam that will either make the card divine, or "burn" the card if they aren't good enough, which makes them a hellish, evil card (The tool is kind of a stretch and a little to complicated, but I couldn't think of anything else). The cost could be a meter that would go up or down depending on whether you played a good or evil card. Certain cards could only be played above or below some meter levels. You would always start in the middle and could go down or up from there. There would also be some cards that could only be played in certain ranges, like around the middle, or good but not too good. The side deck would be comprised of holy and unholy totems (or divine and demented if the word holy was slightly too "controversial"), which would be free to play and either increase or decrease the meter by one. The odds of drawing each could be edited at any time while not in battle, like P03's vessels. I think there's a lot of potential here for cool cards and sigils. One idea I had was a card with the sigil "Blessed" which could double the cards attack damage, but when the card was destroyed it would be like "desecrating" it causing you to go down a lot on the Morality Meter (I just came up with that name btw). There could also be a sigil called "Smite" which would be like touch of death but only against evil cards. To make it slightly better than touch of death, though, I think it would give the card tons of invisible attack damage against the evil card or something, so that the card behind it would also instantly die of overkill damage no matter what type of card it was. I have some ideas for events too. There could be a place like the scribe's glass object where, when putting a card under the beam, the card would gain the opposite morality. A neutral card would have a 50/50 chance of being either one. This would also change the card's cost. There could also be a card specifically tailored to this called "Potential" that, by default, could be played in a range around the middle of the Morality Meter. This card would be a decently good card, and have neither good or evil alignment. When used at the light beam it could go one of two ways. If it become good, then it would turn into "True Potential" and become a better card. This card could also receive more sigils than the average card. If the card became evil, it would turn into "Wasted Potential" and become a worse card that could receive no sigils losing all of its previous sigils as well. The costs for each would also change accordingly. The campfire event would instead become "Flames of Atonement" or something similar. Basically they would be like Purgatory flames. When a card is placed in them there is a 50/50 chance they either are destroyed or gain either power or health (as denoted in the event). This is different from the campfire in two ways. One, the 50/50 chance is immediate and you don't get a push-your-luck mechanic. Two, the event would either give the card +2 power, or +4 health. It is, basically, a worse campfire, but I think that's okay considering some scribes have to be better at some things and worse at others. Wow! I thought this was difficult, but I somehow managed to come up with a lot of interesting ideas. Your scribe is great and the concepts for it are amazing. This was fun, although I spent hours writing this (that's not a joke). Nobody's probably even going to see this, but thanks for sparking some ideas in me, I guess! Nice work, and great video!
Idea for the map: Transmutation table Firstly instead of just releasing the energy you instead keep it as currency You choose a card you wish to change and with its element you add other elements and create a new card from any of the scrybe but be careful as putting too much energy and you will lose the card
I've had 2 main ideas for new Card types: Dragons and Nephalem (angels and demons.) No strict ideas on the Scrybes, but the tools they'd use would be a chisel for carving sculptures of dragons and a tablet to seal away the angels and demons. Dragons would be summoned by placing Treasure cards from your side deck and letting them rest. Every time you end your turn with a Treasure card on the field you build 'Lure Points' which are then spent to summon higher strength dragons. Nephalem would be very risk-reward, with the two parts of the deck acting in tandem. You wouldn't have a side deck of fodder or resources, but instead two separate decks for the angels and demons to be split between. Demon cards can be play whenever you want and are often very powerful, but playing them flips over 'Sin Counters.' Your opponent can then use these Sin Counters to summon their own monsters without their necessary material by spending counters equal to the monster's power, but in doing so 'Virtue Counters' are flipped over. Angels can then be summoned by using Virtue Counters your opponent flipped. There are a maximum of 4 for both kinds of counters and no more, preventing your opponent from summoning 5+ power creatures.
Now I wanna now more about how Niphox would work in inscryption what card leshy turned them into, his trio and how they fell about him, what Rebecca would say about them, his uberbot, and their final game at the end, XD I know that's alot and I don't expect a full video i just also have a scyrbe oc that I did that for and was curious great video by the way
I like to imagine when in the room with this scrybe there is mechanical whirring in the background and the metalic clicking of his many arms moving about and possibly a biological sample in a container bubbling quietly somewhere in the room
NiPhox is a steampunk anthropomorfic spider and I thought he could use sewing utensils becauce of his brethren weavers. Seawing cards and backroungs as if creating new life and then cutting it short with scissors like the moiras from mithology. That could also represent how many lifes you have left by seeing strings that will be cut if you make the wrong move.
Definitely playing Magnificus' cards for the first time without having a side deck available ruined a lot of people's opinions of the mix cards. The play style barely works without the ability to try for a mox at will.
Yeah, I think it got hit the hardest by the lack of side deck in act 2. Which is a real shame because I love the aesthetic of the deck. It's SO much better in the Magnificus act mod.
Firstly, I wanted to say I'm surprised that this was the video of yours that got recommended to me, and not your Security Breach video with over 100,000 views lol. Either way, I'm very glad I was because I absolutely love your content! Game design and concept creation are one of my favorite things to do in my spare time at the moment, and all of your vids have covered it quite well, with your 2 most recent being perfect examples. I definitely can't wait to see what other topics you cover next. Also I love your avatar design it's freakin adorable
Aw thanks :) I've definitely shifted form a bit with my 2 most recent videos, but I like my new direction! I have tons of ideas and I really look forward to making them all...
what a coincidence, im also kinda making my own fifth scrybe, one focused on Knights and other fantasy element related to em, I call the new resource mechanic as VALOR, where, you can place cards with no cost as long as the have a lower Valor Value than the total Valor Value of all of your cards currently placed, with the main idea being, the courage generated by those in the battlefield inspires thhose to join in the fray, because on their own, most Valor cards are weak, barely reaching 3 power, (at least the ones with lower valor) The side deck cards are called Forerunners, which have 0 cost, 1 attack, 1 health, and have the sigil: "Forerunner: increase this card's Valor by 2" which allows you to place your Valor 0 and Valor 1 cards, so you can slowly build up your army. (They cannot be sacrificed) I call my Scrybe, the Scrybe of Valor, in the canon of their story, they is simply just a high schooler theater kid fond of the Inscryption card game that seemingly just appeared in their town and became the town-wide sensation overnight and became popular amongst the townsfolk of all ages and gender, but thats what they just are, a normal person with the fondness for the game, their method of Inscryption is a mechanical pencil, which they use to sketch heroes and knights so they can create their own type of resource to add to their favourite game. However their roleplaying persona however is known as the Paladin of Valor, the holy knight that took down the Great Spirit of Beasts, the Witch of the Dead, The Decrepit Machination of Technology, and the Great Magus of Magicks, as the name suggest, they're a Paladin, with a medieval theme, and speaks in Old English style, they don't have a room like the scrybes, they're campaign room is simply their bedroom but when they narrate, the immersive story is what turns the room to reflect the story being told. I posted it on my twitter, if ye'd like to see. twitter.com/mafuokaoka2/status/1504425576756834306?s=20&t=ShzOrGMaqK--83N_kG3elQ twitter.com/mafuokaoka2/status/1504424074172583940?s=20&t=ShzOrGMaqK--83N_kG3elQ
4:11 have you try a die for the elements? like each side being an alquimie element and just like the squirrel, battery or bones, can be thrown 1 each turn (accumulative). sure it's going to be more like "lucky shot" but it could be exchenged 3 for 1 of the other. some processes envolving something like "true alquimie experience". 6:28 is that from Bad Dream: Stories ?
If I could have an inscribing Tool… It would actually be a stone chisel!. I’ve always loved collecting rocks, and sometimes I found a nice looking and reasonably sized stone. So I’d take it back home, head to the garage, and start chiseling some designs, lots have figures had been made, but sadly the originals are lost to time. (That and mom thought they were a good garage sale item😅) But yeah, that would be my tool, as Scrybe of Stone!.😃
idea on how it implement this into the story of inscryption: Niphox wasnt one of the original scrybes but was placed into the game to retrieve the old data by a hacker that found out about it, but as with the other scrybes: the old data gave Niphox sentience so when Niphox finally found the old data and realized how dangerous it was he/she /it(?) decided to pretend to the hacker that he/she/it(?) still hadnt found it and that when the player meets Niphox
Funny. I wrote a story about my OC punishing a thief by giving them a force go at a leshy game. His cards were all demons tho, or demonic beasts. (Shadow demon, Hellhound, Hellbat, Behemoth... Etc. His side deck was Souls, that you sacrificed to summon the demons. But when they die, they give a Soul fragment. Overall it was very Leshy and Grimora inspired. Not too original, but i didn't really aim to. I just felt like doing something Inscryption inspired. But i really liked your go at it! A lot more developed that what i thought.
Well I also have an idea for a scrybe. It's the "distorted realm" where there are people as well as some weird creatures. The new resource is "matter". You receive a piece of matter every time you draw, play or destroy cards(or when they get killed). 3 pieces create 1 matter. And it is used to play most creatures from this realm(mainly the weird ones). The sise deck contains "shattering crystals" which have 0/1 and a sigil that gives a piece of matter when this takes damage(not when destroyed). The map here is a bunch of cards placed in a 5x5 square. In the center you have boss which card is in the middle and is different from others. There are also new events. Improver: place a card, then you can upgrade it up to 3 times. First time it will give the card an alternative cost(if the card costs bones gives it matter or blood cost)(this one is safe), next upgrade is giving a sigil or +1/+2(it has 25% chance to fail), lastly it can make a card cheaper(lowers by 1 for blood and matter, lowers by 2 or 3 for bones)(has a 50% chance to fail). If you fail to upgrade a card it becomes a "charged matter" that has 0/2, is free and keeps all sigils of the creature that failed to upgrade. Talking birds: you meet four birds on 2 different branches. They ask you what do you want. The sparrow asks if it's friends that you seek. Parrot asks if it's wealth. Raven asks if you seek purity. The middle eyed bird asks if you seek answers. At this point you can leave or choose a bird that will give you a bless and a curse. Sparrow will either give a person card or itself(1 blood, 3/2 with flying) however, it removes 2 non-battle cards from the map. Parrot gives 10-30 coins, but takes away a random card from your deck. Raven allows to remove any amount of cards from your deck(at least one) but it blocks shops for this stage. The middle eyed bird shows 5 random cards on the map, yet takes away all of your coins. Human camp: it's a campfire that is only allowed for people, if you don't have people, gain another second chance.
Sounds really awesome! The art for the cards is really good. Some of the cards sound a bit OP, though, so some rebalancing would probably be in order if this were to be made into an actual Inscryption campaign
I have an idea for one of the events it could be a steampunk cloning machine and you would be able to place a card inside and there is a chance it will be cloned and sometimes it will be little diffrent like having one more damage But there is a chance it will complete fail and you will get one of five slimes First slime would cost 1 green element Have 1 damage And have 1 healt and give you 1 green element point Second, third and forth would be the same but with diffren elemnts The fith one will have the same cost as blank synth but will give you one eather points
Also the second event coudl be a place where you can transform you creature into a potion getting rid of it but making it so you can start with a extra element you will be also able to choose witch one you want as long as the creature you sacrificed gives it if it does not give any elements you will get eather element Also maybe there would be a card that would be like potion based and it you turn it into a potion you get not one but two extra elements
one thing to add is that, in the first act of the game he'll likely be turned into a card like the other scrybes. He'll probably be turned into a spider card and would become more mechanical as time goes on, maybe with a cool hat added in.
Since the scrybe of death utilizes a pen to draw already, perhaps a sort of al-chemical printing press or cauldron could create the creatures your scrybe uses?
My scrybe! The Scrybe of Life-Vitana (F). She is daughter of the Magick scrybe, magnificus and looks more like a dryad then a bush Her theme is creation of your own cards, a little like Magnificus's power in the bossfight Let me explain-when you first meet her, she teleports you in an escape room and explains how it works. Here there are many puzzles with ready cards, card canvases, sigils and stat points. You when you find the needed materials you craft your cards yourself! You ALWAYS need: a canvas; a stat point of health and power each. Of course you can add new sygils, more points, etc THE CURRENCY: i dunno the name, but: its a limited resource, which you can waste a turn on to get. at the start of the battle you get five-the average card cost is 2. Gameplay: there is a lot more focus on the escape room and puzzle aspects, for starters. In between increasingly difficult battles there are little escape rooms with card craft materials. after the room is cleared you create a card, which is similiar to P03's mechanic-the stronger the card, the more resources it takes to play it. There are also items in escape rooms The battles happen inbetween e.r's and there can be battles on the levels. SYGILS: Anthropogen: gives you resources and energy cells after it's attack (bot synergy) Fast growth: if on the field, gives you the ability to get res 2 times, or get res. and play a card season change: if on the field, cycles 4 conditions, each for a turn except winter. Autumn-gives double the bones for deaths. Winter-"freezes" enemy cards, making them into frozen possum type cards, but with the original inside. Summer-gives all allies the "perfect sacrifice" sygil. its funny that I write this after a year but a religious Scrybe can be good I mean most similar Scrybe is the death Scrybe and you know thats not realy religious. in this scrybe there can be demons, angels, ifrist, priests, hounds, paladins, diwine spearman etc... other scrybes have energy, blood, bones, gems so this one can have "Diwine" not sure where it comes from but I thing something similar to energy and Bones, we earn diwine per cards who are on the table For side deck it can be "Beliver" who have 0 damage 1 hp but gives "Diwine" when dies it can be a good one with a lot of good bosses and a good theme Not sure with everything but if I change somethings it can be a good Scrybe
Though the gameplay aspects of the Scrybes are important, another important aspect of the game is how cards are made by each Scrybe. Leshy has a camera, P03 a big machine, Grimora her quil, and Magic man his paintbrush. Since yours is alchemy related, it would be interesting to see how your Scrybe would manage to transfer whatever life or element present in the world into the body of a card.
Since each Scrybe card is unique, I can see Niphox becoming a Spider. Weak, but with a noxious bite. Poisonous 1-1, though I don't fully know how they'd change over time
Maybe it looms overhead from the cards perspective, with it's many limbs sticking from it's side, eventually looking more mechanical than arachnidian. (But now for another question, what would he turn the scrybes into?)
@@brennantaylor3605 Well, since PO3 doesn't turn the scrybes into anything, I'm not sure off the top of my head, since there's no precedent. However, they could each become a different, unique Biosynth or Beest, or possibly wholly unique creatures. Which, admittedly isn't helpful, but hey.
When it comes to the scrybes, I can't help but compare them to monster types in yugioh: Beast, Zombie, Machine, Spellcaster. Going by this, I can think of a few themes for some original scribes: Scrybe of war, with cards of historical classes of warriors and soldiers, like knights and and archers and stuff. Scrybe of divinity, with a theme on religion, mythology and deities. Scrybe of plants, pretty self explanatory Srybe of the stars, with cosmic events, constilations and the zodiacs.
Personally I would've mish-mashed an entirely separate game into Incryption since I think the base mechanics are good (and if Leshy incorporated Energy into the game then I think it'd be perfect since Tech cards are perfect fodder) but it has enough wiggle room to make endless variations. For me, I chose to butcher up Bakugan. The deck is split into two parts: Monster and Ability. At the start of the battle you place a total of 12 Cores (hexagonal magnets) with onto a playing field and four gate cards to correspond to the four tiles where you place your monsters. In order to play a monster, you must win a skill check by rolling a marble with a magnet on one point. If it sticks, you take the core to augment your monster's power and place it on a tile of your choice. There are two marbles: straight-shot and curve-shot. Should be self explanatory. Every monster has an element, enabling the use of Ability Cards of that element, with different elements having different limits. Ability cards require Energy to play, working the same as default Inscryption. Monsters that require sacrifices or bones to be played are typically more powerful, as even sacrifice fodder needs to be rolled in order to be sacrificed. It's a simple way to streamline Bakugan's TCG since it's always been janky, but also throw in flavor to Incryption as the only fleshed-out mechanics are sacrificing, bones, and energy. Conduits are neat but pointless, and MOX is a nuisance. So, this setup remixes MOX to be useful and ditches conduits altogether.
That is a really cool idea for a scribe. I had though of a scrybe that was all about fantastique beings and eldritch being they would have two jeans like the mycologist but they aren’t attached to each other’s head they would both get half the body they share and each have their own inscripting tool one would be a book that take souls and modify the creature absorbed to become a fantastical creature while the other half would be using a demonic circle or something like that. This is as much as I have gone with the idea if anyone wants to continue with it go ahead you are free to do whatever
I had an idea for an office-themed scrybe. (hear me out) It’s cost gimmick could be “Work” (each turn you get Work equal to how many cards you have on the board, excess work is wasted at the end of the turn, some cards could give extra Work via sigils) It’s gameplay style could be a straight line of battles and minigames, (stuff like typing a document, looking through files, shredding paper, etc.) and each time you win a minigame you get a bonus for the battles (get a sigil for a card, get an item, etc). Side deck could be some 0/1s (basically identical to squirrels) so you can get some Work generation. (or free blockers)
Someone needs to program this asap. This sounds fun, but you would need to play it to see the balance. Also, I found a way to say the cards (like how you say a 5bones 2/2 or a 3blood 4/2 waterborne etc) you would say cost, generation, stats then sigils so homonculus would be a 1green 1red green red 2/3, or iron biosynth would be a 2green green 1/4 metal skin idk but that feels like the most natural way to say it to me
Dear Carpengizmat, I would reccomend to replace a pen with a syringe, or a scalpel, or any other tool, perhaps even the tool used to suck some liquid in would work, because ink-using tool is already taken by Grimora.
Another problem with magnificus' resource system is that moxes take up space on the board. With only four slots, this is actually a pretty big investment, and unlike with squirrels they don't go away after you use them to free up the slot. They're a bit like having a cat on the board for blood, but since the moxes are the standard way to play the game they have a payoff that's worth significantly less than having one extra blood permanently.
I’ve seen a bunch of people with their own scribes, might as well. A scribe who uses sign language with a special pair of gloves that make the things he signs appear in the air? And his “theme” is using the excess attack points as currency to summon creatures. I don’t really know what the condition for winning would be, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten
Hella amazing concept; probably will never be done, but I'd love to see someone try to make this into a mod someday and try to figure out the mechanics and make some models for it, It'd be a long task, but it'd be so dope to see this come to life, but again, great work, love the art and ideas and the theme, all just amazing, gg
@@jakubgrono9070 Oh trust me, I'm very much aware of all these mods, just stuff like Grimora, that already had majority of models and sprites, it was just a case of making new cards, making the game playable in that style (which was briefly already coded in the base game) etc. The sun counter was just a counter with a fancy display, still hard to code. And Magnifisus (who I'm presuming is tree guy) has already those mechanics coded in, it was just a matter of tweaking them around for a roguelike version, the mox system existed, models existed, card ideas were already present, just a matter of polishing it up for real gameplay, balancing it and making new cards and bosses. But for something on this scale, it'd require entirely new gameplay style of the 2d sidescroll map; alongside plenty of custom made models, a whole arrange of cards, bosses, the mechanic of elements is a lil more difficult to code then just a counter, alongside all these, it would certainly take time, it is possible for sure, but it'd just take a painful long time unless there is quite a big group working on it.
The fifth Scrybe would be the Mycologist. Not only were they strong enough to take over Po3 while he had control of the system, but they also found and own a piece of Old_Data.
I just came up with an idea for a scrybe. I don't know their name, but they would have an eldritch/lovecraftian horror theme, and would have a constantly shifting appearance. The cost gimmick is that each of their cards will deal damage to you, the amount increasing for more powerful cards. The side deck would be replaced with sanity, which blocks a point of damage dealt by one of your own card. I imagine that this scrybe would try to act all mysterious and "to powerful for others to truly understand" but in reality they're a massive jerk that's only trying to get a power fix. One of the boss ideas I came up with is a two head monster that has different personalities for each head. One head is really dumb, and the other has a short fuse and gets made at the other head alot. Their boss gimmick would be trying to fight two different battles at the same time. The angry head will play aggressively and try to win quickly, while the dumb head plays slow, but will eventually play enough cards to overwhelm the player.
This has to be one of the best Fan-Made Ideas for a resource system! It feels a lot like MTG, and it seems really fun to play with! Not to mention the ideas and card art, ah, they all look great!
I, by the way, also came up with my own Inscryption scrybe, right while watching this video and making dinner. He doesn't really have a name, just imagine some random 3 first names, as he constantly changes them. He is scrybe of capitalism, basically that type of guy that makes Candy Crush clones and starts making games with pre-order bonuses. By appearance he's basically Mr. Green, but is an actual goblin, wearing glasses and hat. His main mechanic is money. His cards are free to place on board, but they won't have any attack power, unless you will pay for them with money. And each turn you need to repeat process of paying money for cards. Obviously each card has its own price you need to pay for in order to use its attack power. You get money by either placing money bags on board, these are his alt deck, and getting money once from them (after one use they become just 1 hit defence), or by selling cards from board (cards from other scrybe decks can be sold too). His main map is basically like career ladder.
I don't understand why side deck's elemental don't generate something like 1 or 2 ether. Rn, i feel like you can have the same problem than with magnificus where you need 1 from a specific element and loose bc you don't draw the correct elemental. Or did i miss something?
That was one of the ideas I brainstormed for. I thought maybe each lane got highlighted like beats in a bar, and you could only play cards on the "on-beat" lane? But that's not a very good mechanic so you can see why I went with alchemy lol
@@Carpengizmat the idea i had for it was that some cards played a different instrument that dose someting unique, and sence there is 4 places to play a card that could be like a music bar nd the whole gole is to place down 4 cards that sound decent as in no random notes or something that make it hard to listen to and you could just place down one card and be fine but you would have to be careful about what cards or music you place down next. Picture this you have a plan old wolf in play and you place down like an electric gutar or something and it increases the wolfs power or something like that EDIT: i got to thinking about ths and ive had a better idea what if the cards are the bar, instead of the playing field like you could have 4 istrument cards on the same space and puting more istruments could incress the effect that the card emits, granted the music dec is more on the suportive side and is probably used best with other cards but it has a really unique mecanic
I like your scribe. The element system is a bit complex, but at least it's not the Magnificus system. It's nice to come across this type of content in my search for information to make an online inscryption. I don't know if there is a mod of it, but i'm working of my own "mod" (Although it is really a game made from scratch).
This is very cool, I like this mechanics. I assume there would be something like a hammer to get rid of the elementals. Since you gotta make space for cards to play. And the only other thing that I would be curious about is it's card modification options. It's a huge part of act 1 and act 3
each of the scrybes seem to take in universe characters and convert them to living cards when they get control, leshy carding the scrybes andpo3 giving you the angler and the lonely mage. have you considered what familiar faces might be found on cards in niphox's game?
an intresting idea for the gameboard could be you exploring and fighting through and alchemical circle to the middle having different paths and choices like leshy but looking different enough to be its own thing
I had began a project like that, but i'm clearly not as skilled as you for the inscryption stuff. Anyway, here's my ideas: Dryad, 1;3, plant growth, transform an ally or an ennemy into a tree. Golem, 1,4, sturdy. The maximum of damage this card can take at once is two. Energy pile, 0,3 explosion( do 5 damage to close cards). Summon two elementals here or at the others lines. I let you decide which cost (if you ever plan to use them), because in my idea i was planning to only allow those cards to be placed one at a time each turn, but being free.
The resource system is very clever, well done. Kind of wish this is how Magic had worked in the base game as it basically fixes all the issues Moxes have.
Okay I know I just posted another comment about my OC Scrybe but I also had to mention I absolutely love the Mycologists and have also been thinking about what kind of system they'd have as a standalone Scrybe I've done a ton of worldbuilding with input from others if you're curious!
My only complaint I had with this scrybe is probably the “map”, I thought it was quite a bit too similar with P-03’s free-roam map. I did think of a cool idea for the map though. I had a cool thought of one of those marble-puzzles, where you have to turn it left and right, for it to roll around and where it lands is where you will be next.
first of all, i generally think you nailed the design of everything. really fresh and cool style. i have a few ideas you might be interested in. 1 you /could/ make your elementals all different. maybe something like... - earth: 0/2 - fire: 0/1 sharp quills - water: 0/1 sprinter (or stinky maybe? submerge would be way too powerful) - air: 0/1 mighty leap (or sprinter if you change water's sigil) these are stronger than other scrybe's main decks. but you could probably compensate by making them generally weaker / more expensive than other scrybes, the same way p03 does. its already quite challenging because you need four different types of mana. 2 heres some elemental change suggestions: - colossus: earth+water (whales etc) - iron biosynth: earth+fire (smelting) - noxicrawler/toxicrawler: fire+earth (hes low to the ground, i do like the fire/water choice tho, maybe this is your first three element synth? you only need four three element synths to have all combos) - panopticoid: fire+water (its in a vat and fire makes light which lets you see) - smokestack: fire+air, maybe add stinky sigil i know this leaves some gaps in the pairings, but you can always add more cards for those combos ;) 3 id suggest adding some cards that consume one element but produce a different element. maybe poisonous stuff consumes fire but produces earth. this changes the deck building from focusing on one element to something else im not quite sure the implications of this to be honest. 4 you should add a chimera to the set, maybe as a triple element. theyve always felt alchemical to me. 5 the four element cards feel forced and are my least favorite aspect of the set. id just switch cards that take all four elements to triplets and simply not have all four required ever. - i do love the apex biosynth as a concept. - the elemental fusion card is somehow both overpowered and boring. just cut it you dont need it. - blank synth can just be water/earth and mutosynth can just be like water/fire or something. they dont have to be generic just because theye has generic powers. that can just be an aspect of that specific element, to help differentiate it from the other elements more. 6 you're not going to like this idea... the elementals themselves dont quite fit the theme, feel more magical than alchemical. in fact the elements seem to be one of the weaker aspects of your otherwise very fresh design. you /could/ switch from the four elements to the three alchemical bases: salt, sulpher, and mercury. its more on theme and less overused. - sulpher: poisonous, flamable, etc. - salt: sturdy, crystalline, oceanic, etc. opposite of mercury. - mercury: metalic, fluid, etc. opposite of salt. ideas for assigning these new primes to the cards you have: SULPHER - sulpher b: sulpher, obviously. dont feel the other elements fit here so this would be a single. SULPHER AND MERCURY - injectors (chem b, stim b): sulpher for the reactive chemical, + mercury for the early (and obviously failed) attempts at elixers of life. - toxics (noxicrawler, toxicrawler, smokestack): sulpher which is found in toxic places +mercury which is toxic. smokestack can just be sulpher i think. MERCURY - mutagenics (blank s, clay g, muto s): definitely mercury. probably not salt which is kind of the opposite of these. SALT AND MERCURY - aquatic b: salt for oceans + mercury for fluids. - iron b: mercury for the metal. maybe also salt to fit with structurals? - electro b: salt for battery + mercury for conductive metal. - flyers (aerial b, blitzen b, skysnare, zepploid): mercury for dynamicness?? +salt might work for some/all of these as well, since they all have a constructed or solid feel. SALT - structurals (aether gate, colossus, shelldigger): salt. definitely NOT mercury, though aethergate might be cool with mercury. SALT AND SULPHER - homonculus: i feel like salt+sulpher is the best fit for it. NOT SURE - apex b: really this one could be any combination of 2, maybe all 3 like in your original design for it. - aliens (braineater, grasper, panopticoid): i have literally no idea. its definitely more difficult to assign themes to these elements, and sadly mercury seems to dominate. salt+sulpher is the only combo really lacking, which could be covered by the alien looking ones, but i feel like those should be mercury as well X'D. anyway, not sure how much i like this idea but its at least a little fresher than the four elements which imho are used a bit too much. 7 aethergate mechanically makes sense but again doesnt quite fit the vibe that the alchemy stuff does. id cut it. 8 you dont really need noxicrawler AND toxicrawler. i get that theyre supposed to be a pair but they lack personality together. either way, well done. i would not mind seeing more designs in a follow up video.
I have to say your idea for a scrybe is amazing! Niphox seems like an interesting fella- rather curious about their tool of choice with which they create their cards with (maybe an alchemy set or a mortar?) love their design- wondering about what Niphox's personality and goals could be ^^ And I just gotta give you credit for the resource mechanism you came up with, I've been racking my brain over one for my own scrybe and you have given me something to think about- this was a really good refresher on what to look out for! So thanks! :D
I did say a fountain pen in the video but... well, frankly I glossed over quite a lot of design elements or didn't give them a huge amount of thought cause I didn't think nearly as many people would care lol Since I put out this video I've been thinking of some kind of crusher or printing press style thing which stamps creatures into cards.
So one thing I noticed among the cards you presented was a lack of inter-deck synergies. I'm guessing you primarily considered cards for a scenario where this scrybe had their own individual mode, but of course in Act 2 gameplay where all card types are present there are typically at least a few cards that support every possible combination to one degree or another. Something like the Meatbot that requires Energy to summon, but gives 3 Blood when sacrificed for Energy/Beast synergy, for example, or the two mages that become stronger when they consume Bones or Energy, respectively, for some Mage/Bone or Mage/Energy combos. My first thought would be an Earth element creature with the Gravedigger ability, which seems pretty self explanatory, really. Maybe an Air element creature that provides an extra Energy Cell when played, like it acts as a lightning storm/lightning rod kind of deal. Maybe an Earth creature could interact with Mox cards in some capacity considering that they are literally gems from the earth. Maybe you could have a card that changes all Ether-providing cards on the board into providing one of the elements instead, so you can rapidly build up a specific elemental energy regardless of what kinds of cards you currently have in play. Naturally, there would likely be cards within the other four sets added to either assist or get assisted by your new group too. Maybe a Phoenix could provide Fire energy from a Beast deck, for example. The one card that provides the Grand Mox sigil to give all three Mox types with a single card is actually an Energy card, so another card within the Energy deck that similarly provides all five types of elemental power would seem pretty reasonable.
I did think about these, but didn't want to complicate things by adding them. I think I'll address them if I do more parts to this video, thanks for your ideas!
i had a similar idea like this one, however it instead of points being generated, you needed to fuse elementals instead to make cards instead of already having them in a main deck, the basic elementals would have their own stats too but they would only last a few turns before disappearing if not fused, it also focuses on mythology instead of science fiction, their would also be a "recipe book" for all the cards incase you couldn't remember
Name: Inian Domain: Stories / Fantasies / Tales by the Mouth Tool: Notepad and Pen (the pen is actually a claw of a dragon) Description: An angelic being that never shows their face for fear of driving others insane, Inian is a fan of fictional works to the point where the works seem to come to life in the scrybe's presence. Inian is all for giving proper free will to those who play a game with it, but... due to this tendency to stay distant... it doesn't see the other scrybes (nor anyone challenging it) as being its equals. It constantly wears a cloak covered in words that are always shifting and changing. Resource: Much like Leshy, Inian focuses entirely around sacrificing cards to play other cards (it even asks you to specifically use "my claw" to do it. Sacrificing a card with Inian's pen turns its name into letters. If you have the letters to spell out a card's name, you can play it. Letters, like Grimora's bones, remain between turns. Sideboard: Inian's sideboard consists of scrolls, each with a different name of at least 4 letters. They are sacrifice/block fodder. Typical Cards: Inian's cards typically revolve around fantastical creatures, with its rare cards being names of famous heroes and villains in literature.
Subordinates: Inian, like the other scrybes, has certain individuals you must face before it. These individuals (four of them) represent versions of the other domains, each with a fantasy-book twist (in fact, when Inian has the OLD_DATA, it will actually trap the other scrybes in the bodies of these 4 bosses). Unlike the other scrybes who have (at least partial hints of) a boss battle in their GM act, who will just put on a mask or download a program, Inian will merely step aside and let the mystical creature do their thing. However beating these powerful creatures will guarantee that you get them and the power to play them for yourself. Beasts - Vemush the Manticore: Vemush is very dastardly and has a preference to keep things simple by any means necessary, even if it means playing anything he wants to whenever he wants to. If Inian is the GM, Vemush will (in his boss fight) play any card of his choosing when you draw a card, and (on his second phase) will wipe out both the board and your hand. Dead - Luminos the Pheonix: Luminos is, like any pheonix, incapable of dying... and she dislikes that fact very much, especially since Grimora gets trapped in her by Inian's notepad every time Vemush gets his claws on the OLD_DATA and gives it to their angelic master. Luminos's battle (with Inian as the GM, of course) plays out very similarly to Grimora's battle, with Luminos using her everlasting flames to breathe life back into any cards that fall... except that she gains full control of them whenever they do. Technology - Luck the Artificial Intelligence: Aka the only boss who will actively take control of its scrybe. Luck is named the way it is because it always seems to know the perfect odds. In its fight (when... I'm just going to stop), Luck has no real gimmicks... aside from the fact that it plays as if you're fighting another player (and, if you allow it to, you actually will find that it IS another player who's also trying to fight Luck that is controlling the Intelligence). It also loves using very similar lines to P03 and (when Inian is NOT the GM) Luck will often say that it looks up to the Scrybe of Technology... much to Inian's disappointment. Magicks - Endunen the Dragon: The "unhinged" one of Inian's 4 subordinates, Endunen is more focused on its prophetic powers than actually playing. However, he has Inian's interests taken fully to heart in such a way that he's willing to ignore Magnificus's nagging voice in his head when Inian's the GM and even use the strengths of his Scrybe of Magicks counterpart against you directly. Fighting Endunen is like fighting Magnificus V2 using Inian's mechanics. He will potentially even sabotage your resources, hand, and even your ability to see just so he can go back to his future-gazing much more quickly.
Act: Inian's act starts with it waking up, having been disturbed by you. It quickly conceals itself and goes to get a book so you can play its version of Inscryption, advising you to stretch your legs and have a look around its castle-esque Temple of Stories. After doing a few puzzles, Inian comes back, fully covered, and sits you down so you can learn the ropes. Inian's board layout makes it seem like you are helping the angel write a story, with you as the protagonist. It will use its notepad and "pen" to draw scenes for you when appropriate. Inian's art isn't that good, but it at least does its job. Every now and then, it'll toss you into a fight, where it will slowly teach you mechanics. It expects you to lose a few times and will be mildly surprised and interested if you don't (if you lose, you return to the beginning of the chapter). You can back up and do more things in the castle as you see fit so long as it isn't a "tense moment". When you complete the book, Inian will pull you aside to a room it keeps locked and, after setting up the details... yeah, it's a deathcard... except not really as, after he writes a few words in its notepad for the image to appear seemingly out of nowhere while it's still in your hands, Inian takes the card from you and lets you do more things to keep you busy with the reward being more cards. After a few more books, Inian starts acting... a little sad and lonely and pulls out the book "The Scrybe of Beasts", saying that it misses its old friends. This time, much like any others, you are the protagonist... except, this time, the protagonist is given a name: Leshy. You even play with Leshy's mechanics instead of Inian's, with the fight at the end... yeah, it's Vemush, and therefore the real Leshy. This is the first time you would actually make Inian mad at you by not losing... in which case, you will be refused a protagonist card (you'd still get the ability for Vemush/Leshy (and, as a note, all four of the cards in this group are unremovable and can talk) to join you in later books though). This process continues: one or two normal books and then a Scrybe book. After beating Endunen/Magnificus (which only happens when there are no puzzles left and all that remains until you get to Inian's inscryption room and the New Game button is a lock), instead telling you that the dragon now has a chance to join you in later books... or even pulling you aside even if you didn't upset the Scrybe of Stories... Inian will just give you all four of the scrybe cards along with 20 other cards of your choice that you've unlocked (but, strangely, no protagonist cards) before saying "I suspect, if Endenen is to be believed, I will no longer hold power here for much longer. So I must ask you to give me one final bit of suspense... of excitement... before you end this opportunity. It's quite unfortunate to say this but, I lied. The key that you tried every puzzle to find... only to find card after card instead... was with me the whole time, but I must say this. While I rarely have power, when I do get it, it feels good, like something I want to keep forever. I don't intend to give the key up so easily, but if you win, I guess I have no way of stopping you from just taking the key from me."
Scrybe battle: Act 2-Style Phase 1: Inian will start off by making and playing copies of the cards you play to stall you while it does some special work. There will always be one turn before the copy comes into play. Use it to your advantage. Act 2-Style Phase 2: Now that Inian finished, it's ready to unveil it project. It immediately plays card versions of its 4 subordinates and, in the back, is a four-lane card representing itself as a card. You have to beat all five cards to even do a point of damage to Inian, but once you do defeat card Inian, the real Inian will have no more tricks it can play and will surrender... of course, you can refuse the surrender for extra foils. Inian Act Phase 1: Right off the bat, Inian starts off by copying the non-possesed scrybe cards and placing them on its side of the board. It also has other cards behind them. So long as a scrybe card exists on EITHER side of the field, Inian can use the respective subordinate's abilities. Inian Act Phase 2: This is where the lack of protagonist cards in your options makes sense as Inian will start using those cards you helped make against you (very much like what Act 1 Leshy does in his 2nd phase) the scrybe card rule still applies, but the only side that this can be applied to (as the board gets wiped between phases) would be your side. Inian Act Phase 3: Inian spends a few moments pondering. Around the time where it would usually get impatient with you stalling, it decides to do what it spent the entire act avoiding and completely takes off the extra coverings, revealing that it isn't even human. It is quite blurry, but the Scrybe of Stories looks almost like a winged... wheel? When you look back at your hand, you'll notice that all of your cards are gone. You try to draw from either your deck or the sideboard, but both of them vanish before you can draw. You have nothing. How can you beat it now? Inian, meanwhile, merely plays a rare card and just lets it, and the starvation mechanic, do the work. However, there is one trick to this phase. It's the fact that the entire phase plays out in your head. The phase restarts itself, but this time, the decks don't disappear... it's the sigils that vanish instead... in fact, each time this final phase repeats itself, something other than the bell is ALWAYS missing. It may be your items. It may be your letters. It may be the table. It may be anything, so long as it is not the bell. Aftermath: After beating the (literal) insanity of Inian's 3rd phase, all that you need to do is toss something over it so you will stop slowly going insane, then (after your vision clears up) grab the key, enter the room, and touch the new game button, repeating the cycle once more... letting Inian's power trip come to a complete conclusion as quietly as it began... just like how it started with the angel being woken up and appearing to have been as good an option as Leshy for being the holder of the OLD_DATA (even if it actually wouldn't be a good idea, based on the Scrybe of Stories's complete breakdown), it ended with a simple walk through the castle, on a quiet path that will have become all-too-familiar...
Do you think you could put the cards on a google doc/word document/ stick em on your discord? I have a homemade physical Inscryption game, and would love to add your cards.
This actually gave me an interesting idea, what is satan was a scrybe? I thought about it for a bit… I came up with an interesting idea. The resource you need to get is the opponent’s side of the scale, effectively healing them. So what do I do to make a side deck that makes resources? Simple. A card I would like to call, the teeth thieves. These things deal no damage. Rather, once a turn they generate a plier, free of cost. So interestingly, this will make a duel play style. Where the player has to defend against any damage, but have to be risky to continue. Generally, these cards would be a bit more powerful than old mag’s but not as good as Leshy’s. Obviously the theme of sacrifice overlaps a lot with Leshy, but I had to make my own spin. For satan’s design, pull it straight from pony island if he is present in act 2, otherwise, make a red fleshed man in a suit. I also decided that if he had an act to himself, he would remove the mechanic of putting things on your side of the scale when you take damage, rather, we would put a certain amount of teeth on a pentagram (which he takes his side of the scale). If he gets 5 teeth on the pentagram, he gets to put an eye on your side of the scale. Encouraging this fast and risky play style his cards encourage. Also in his own act, he will have no reference to the bone lord. For bosses, I don’t know yet. Tell me if there sounds like there is any balance issues.
The thing I really don't like about mox is the randomness. If you draw from the side deck using any other scrybe you know what you're getting, but with mox its 33% chance of getting the card you want, which is horrible with bad rng.
Or mabye a steampunk type machine that absorbs the essence of the thing he inscrybes and pour it over the card
@@jakubgrono9070 ok love the visual of that 😍 but that does really fix the problem of making yhr inscrybing tool something unique XP that's alittle too close to po3's partical scanner
To go with the theme of alchemy/plague doctors, perhaps a syringe or a glass vial/beaker/test tube?
@@Mugsi how does one make cards with a syringe? XD unless it's like a mutation which granted would set them apart from the other scribes but the others have imscybing tools that actually make since to make cards. They all have to or could have to do with paper of some kind paint, ink, pictures (pictures covering both leshy and po3)
@@Dmgladiator2642 What if they use the blood as a writing tool, or would that be to close to a pen.
YOOO
I'm very pleased to see a reference to P,DTA in the wild :)
Also, really cool concept!
I just had an idea for a puzzle (for failling it specifically), it goes like this:
[You were wandering the area for any supplies that would help you in your journey when you come across a strange looking machine with some instructions and a small screen that all it says is "*RECALIBRATE THE PRESSURE TO PROCEED*"]
(After failling the puzzle)
[You enter in a panic when the alarm starts to blare and starving biosynths start running at you, when or where did you mess up!?]
[You werent prepared to fight yet and before you can call out to your own biosynths one of them jumps at you and knocks you on the ground, act quickly or youll get devoured!]
this is when you enter in combat but your cards would be missing, and in the opposing spaces start filling with biosynths non-stop, in here you can now get up from the table and you have to look for objects in the room that you then use to kill or stall the waves of enemies, after 10 turns your deck would come back and the enemy´s cards would dissapear with the following text:
[After fending of by yourself for what felt like an eternity finally your screams of help reached out to your creatures as the weakened and tired biosynths start to run away from your troops]
[although you are still hurt so following battles may be more dangerous until you patch yourself up]
also, im sorry if i said anything wrong, im not really cultured into steampunk and im not a native english speaker
@@EeveeMaster547 YEAH
maybe niphox’s game’s story is about collecting the components to create a world saving thing
and his personality could be that he-she is a massive perfectionist when a card is not up to their standards they rip it up or discard it in a fit of anger to try again and reducing they want everything to be in their perfect image and they want to use the power of the old data to create a perfect version of inscryption in their eyes
My ideas for Niphox's minion trio/bosses:
- Moby: Mechanical whale made of brass plating who acts as the old_data finder of for Niphox (like the angler, goo mage or dredger).
These are so awesome!
Moby’s gimmick: he acts as the water focused one, and in his second phase he opens his mouth and the table fills with water, making all cards rust over real life time, making you have to think very quickly
Clippy’s gimmick: he focuses on the earth symbol, and every turn he reveals a new paperclip creature. A frog will eat the lowest health card on either side, prioritizing your side if a tie, a fly will nullify the next frog, and a sword will split 8 damage over all your cards (4 if two, 3 if three, 2 if four cards)
Metal’s gimmick: he focuses on ether and plays only cards from other acts like g0lly.
@@starblade8719 I really like the Moby's gimmick,
I will agree that this is an amazing idea, and I would like to see a mod on this. but this is just my personal opinion

Your Scrybe OC looks so cool wowow, I love their design sm
Your post was part of what inspired me to make this video so I'm super glad you like it :)
@@Carpengizmat worth it in my opinion it is like mox and bones in one with mox having multiple elements and being able to save bones for later

@@roshibomb4247 yeah, but totally not for me. :P
I came up with my own Scrybe as well along a few of my friends who made their own. Here's what I got down:
Scrybe Of Pyromania, Flare.
None/1 Blood = 4 Ashes
1 Bones = 2 Ashes
1 Power = 1 Ash
1 Gems = 2 Ashes
The more flammable the thing is, the more ashes it will give.
This is very good
May I dump my custom scrybe idea here?
My idea for the "Map" part maybe he could give you an Alchemy book which allows you to combine under sertain conditions in a room. But everytime you use a page it is gone and the scrype gives you new pages and recourcess after the boss fight but you can decide if you want to use all pages or wait till you get new ones
Creating your own scrybe is literally just making up your design for being DM
ok no need to call me out like that xD
I mean where the lie tho
1:10 So... The Adeptus Mechanicus?
Edit: Not even 30 seconds later, and you mention tech priests. Good to know I was thinking the same as you.
Idea for the map: Transmutation table
Firstly instead of just releasing the energy you instead keep it as currency
You choose a card you wish to change and with its element you add other elements and create a new card from any of the scrybe but be careful as putting too much energy and you will lose the card
Now we need a mod creator to bring this idea to reality.
Same
Everything of this concept is amazing, i also love the little detail of the crystals replacing the teeth on the scale

*"Alright mod creators you know what to do"*
NiPhox is a steampunk anthropomorfic spider and I thought he could use sewing utensils becauce of his brethren weavers.
Not gonna lie, this is extremely well thought out and extremely flavorful! I'd love to see a mod of this!

I've definitely shifted form a bit with my 2 most recent videos, but I like my new direction! I have tons of ideas and I really look forward to making them all...
oh holy fuck my art(the dallyrim one) made it in the vid!
what a coincidence, im also kinda making my own fifth scrybe, one focused on Knights and other fantasy element related to em, I call the new resource mechanic as VALOR, where, you can place cards with no cost as long as the have a lower Valor Value than the total Valor Value of all of your cards currently placed, with the main idea being, the courage generated by those in the battlefield inspires thhose to join in the fray, because on their own, most Valor cards are weak, barely reaching 3 power, (at least the ones with lower valor)
The side deck cards are called Forerunners, which have 0 cost, 1 attack, 1 health, and have the sigil: "Forerunner: increase this card's Valor by 2" which allows you to place your Valor 0 and Valor 1 cards, so you can slowly build up your army. (They cannot be sacrificed)
I call my Scrybe, the Scrybe of Valor, in the canon of their story, they is simply just a high schooler theater kid fond of the Inscryption card game that seemingly just appeared in their town and became the town-wide sensation overnight and became popular amongst the townsfolk of all ages and gender, but thats what they just are, a normal person with the fondness for the game, their method of Inscryption is a mechanical pencil, which they use to sketch heroes and knights so they can create their own type of resource to add to their favourite game.

If I could have an inscribing Tool…
It would actually be a stone chisel!.
I’ve always loved collecting rocks, and sometimes I found a nice looking and reasonably sized stone. So I’d take it back home, head to the garage, and start chiseling some designs, lots have figures had been made, but sadly the originals are lost to time. (That and mom thought they were a good garage sale item😅)
But yeah, that would be my tool, as Scrybe of Stone!.😃
idea on how it implement this into the story of inscryption: Niphox wasnt one of the original scrybes but was placed into the game to retrieve the old data by a hacker that found out about it, but as with the other scrybes: the old data gave Niphox sentience so when Niphox finally found the old data and realized how dangerous it was he/she /it(?) decided to pretend to the hacker that he/she/it(?) still hadnt found it and that when the player meets Niphox
Sounds good! I'm interested in seeing this in action!
Sounds really awesome! The art for the cards is really good.
Some of the cards sound a bit OP, though, so some rebalancing would probably be in order if this were to be made into an actual Inscryption campaign
Of course, it's a bit hard to playtest the cards when there's no real game to test!
I have an idea for one of the events it could be a steampunk cloning machine and you would be able to place a card inside and there is a chance it will be cloned and sometimes it will be little diffrent like having one more damage
But there is a chance it will complete fail and you will get one of five slimes
First slime would cost 1 green element
Have 1 damage
And have 1 healt and give you 1 green element point
Second, third and forth would be the same but with diffren elemnts
The fith one will have the same cost as blank synth but will give you one eather points
Also the second event coudl be a place where you can transform you creature into a potion getting rid of it but making it so you can start with a extra element you will be also able to choose witch one you want as long as the creature you sacrificed gives it if it does not give any elements you will get eather element
Also maybe there would be a card that would be like potion based and it you turn it into a potion you get not one but two extra elements
one thing to add is that, in the first act of the game he'll likely be turned into a card like the other scrybes. He'll probably be turned into a spider card and would become more mechanical as time goes on, maybe with a cool hat added in.
we need a tentacle scrybe
Since the scrybe of death utilizes a pen to draw already, perhaps a sort of al-chemical printing press or cauldron could create the creatures your scrybe uses?
Or chalk
I love your voice. It sounds so soothing!
My scrybe!
The Scrybe of Life-Vitana (F). She is daughter of the Magick scrybe, magnificus and looks more like a dryad then a bush
Her theme is creation of your own cards, a little like Magnificus's power in the bossfight
Let me explain-when you first meet her, she teleports you in an escape room and explains how it works. Here there are many puzzles with ready cards, card canvases, sigils and stat points. You when you find the needed materials you craft your cards yourself! You ALWAYS need: a canvas; a stat point of health and power each. Of course you can add new sygils, more points, etc
THE CURRENCY: i dunno the name, but: its a limited resource, which you can waste a turn on to get. at the start of the battle you get five-the average card cost is 2.
There are also items in escape rooms
The battles happen inbetween e.r's and there can be battles on the levels.
SYGILS:
Anthropogen: gives you resources and energy cells after it's attack (bot synergy)
Fast growth: if on the field, gives you the ability to get res 2 times, or get res. and play a card
season change: if on the field, cycles 4 conditions, each for a turn except winter. Autumn-gives double the bones for deaths. Winter-"freezes" enemy cards, making them into frozen possum type cards, but with the original inside.
Summer-gives all allies the "perfect sacrifice" sygil. Spring-applies annoying sygil on all enemies. One of the rarest sygils in the act.
Made of stone and beeg sygils can be found
Parasite: if the holder is killed, 2 copies with two ringworms spawn on each side, having 1 power and 1 health
Cave dweller-powers up if there's a mox on the field
PART 2 COMING SOON
Me rocking up to act 2 with my deck consisting of only sapphire mox and blue mages with a single 69/69 ouroboros
I absolutely adore your scribe and the alchemy aesthetic for them it reminds me of my favourite movie of all time!
Now we need a mod of this
its funny that I write this after a year but a religious Scrybe can be good
I mean most similar Scrybe is the death Scrybe and you know thats not realy religious.
in this scrybe there can be demons, angels, ifrist, priests, hounds, paladins, diwine spearman etc...
other scrybes have energy, blood, bones, gems so this one can have "Diwine" not sure where it comes from but I thing something similar to energy and Bones, we earn diwine per cards who are on the table
For side deck it can be "Beliver" who have 0 damage 1 hp but gives "Diwine" when dies
it can be a good one with a lot of good bosses and a good theme
Not sure with everything but if I change somethings it can be a good Scrybe
No, religion is too similar to magic, i mean that's literally the same thing
Though the gameplay aspects of the Scrybes are important, another important aspect of the game is how cards are made by each Scrybe. Leshy has a camera, P03 a big machine, Grimora her quil, and Magic man his paintbrush. Since yours is alchemy related, it would be interesting to see how your Scrybe would manage to transfer whatever life or element present in the world into the body of a card.
If Leshy were to turn him into a card would he be a Strange Frog?
Or mutant frog
Since each Scrybe card is unique, I can see Niphox becoming a Spider. Weak, but with a noxious bite. Poisonous 1-1, though I don't fully know how they'd change over time
I like the idea of a spider
Going by this, I can think of a few themes for some original scribes:
Scrybe of war, with cards of historical classes of warriors and soldiers, like knights and and archers and stuff.
Scrybe of divinity, with a theme on religion, mythology and deities.
Scrybe of plants, pretty self explanatory
Srybe of the stars, with cosmic events, constilations and the zodiacs.
The mecanics are really cool. I would love to test this
Personally I would've mish-mashed an entirely separate game into Incryption since I think the base mechanics are good (and if Leshy incorporated Energy into the game then I think it'd be perfect since Tech cards are perfect fodder) but it has enough wiggle room to make endless variations.
So, this setup remixes MOX to be useful and ditches conduits altogether.
this is a really nice and cool concept for a 5th scribe you got
this is a SOLID idea, i would love to see it realized!
you had me at "ambiguously gendered blobs" and i immediately hit subscribe
A fellow connoeseuir
That is a really cool idea for a scribe. I had though of a scrybe that was all about fantastique beings and eldritch being they would have two jeans like the mycologist but they aren’t attached to each other’s head they would both get half the body they share and each have their own inscripting tool one would be a book that take souls and modify the creature absorbed to become a fantastical creature while the other half would be using a demonic circle or something like that. This is as much as I have gone with the idea if anyone wants to continue with it go ahead you are free to do whatever
I had an idea for an office-themed scrybe. (hear me out)
It’s cost gimmick could be “Work”
(each turn you get Work equal to how many cards you have on the board, excess work is wasted at the end of the turn, some cards could give extra Work via sigils)
It’s gameplay style could be a straight line of battles and minigames, (stuff like typing a document, looking through files, shredding paper, etc.) and each time you win a minigame you get a bonus for the battles (get a sigil for a card, get an item, etc).
Side deck could be some 0/1s (basically identical to squirrels) so you can get some Work generation. (or free blockers)
holy shit this puts my alchemy scrybe to shame, really like this man.
I'm glad you like it!
This is super original, and I love the concept! Plus alchemy and steampunk are just awesome themes to incorporate
Someone needs to program this asap. This sounds fun, but you would need to play it to see the balance.
Also, I found a way to say the cards (like how you say a 5bones 2/2 or a 3blood 4/2 waterborne etc) you would say cost, generation, stats then sigils so homonculus would be a 1green 1red green red 2/3, or iron biosynth would be a 2green green 1/4 metal skin idk but that feels like the most natural way to say it to me
Now if only I were good at actually making things instead of just coming up with them, I might program it xD
Dear Carpengizmat, I would reccomend to replace a pen with a syringe, or a scalpel, or any other tool, perhaps even the tool used to suck some liquid in would work, because ink-using tool is already taken by Grimora.
This looks really cool!
Super fun idea! Great job!
Well some moders did make gimora and the tree dude mod and also somebody made a plants vs zombies mode witch used sun so i think it could be possible
Also sorry for long reply lmao.
Not saying that it will happen for sure, but once one or two of my other projects are done I am hoping to get into to Unity and modding...
The fifth Scrybe would be the Mycologist. Not only were they strong enough to take over Po3 while he had control of the system, but they also found and own a piece of Old_Data.
I really like how you did the resources for your character
Or did i miss something?
how about a scribe of music, its an idea i've had but i have no idea of how i would impliment it
That was one of the ideas I brainstormed for.
Picture this you have a plan old wolf in play and you place down like an electric gutar or something and it increases the wolfs power or something like that
EDIT: i got to thinking about ths and ive had a better idea what if the cards are the bar, instead of the playing field like you could have 4 istrument cards on the same space and puting more istruments could incress the effect that the card emits, granted the music dec is more on the suportive side and is probably used best with other cards but it has a really unique mecanic
Wonderful ideas here. Love the vid
Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
This honestly sounds like fun
I like your scribe. The element system is a bit complex, but at least it's not the Magnificus system.
It's nice to come across this type of content in my search for information to make an online inscryption. I don't know if there is a mod of it, but i'm working of my own "mod" (Although it is really a game made from scratch).
Nah we need to know the attack animation (po3=gun) (grimora=hand)
This is very cool, I like this mechanics. I assume there would be something like a hammer to get rid of the elementals. Since you gotta make space for cards to play.
And the only other thing that I would be curious about is it's card modification options. It's a huge part of act 1 and act 3
Is it ok if I try to make this into a mod? If so, can someone help me with modeling Niphox?
each of the scrybes seem to take in universe characters and convert them to living cards when they get control, leshy carding the scrybes andpo3 giving you the angler and the lonely mage. have you considered what familiar faces might be found on cards in niphox's game?
an intresting idea for the gameboard could be you exploring and fighting through and alchemical circle to the middle having different paths and choices like leshy but looking different enough to be its own thing
Fantastic video! Really interesting one ✨
The resource system is very clever, well done. Kind of wish this is how Magic had worked in the base game as it basically fixes all the issues Moxes have.
Im thinking instead of a map, they could use a metalic puzzle box board thing that generates random event cards via a slot
lowkey love this idea
Also since the theme's about alchemy. What about elemental reactions that cause cards to explode when in contact with a certain element
first time seeing you now I wanna seea this made into somekind of mod. it looks like it has some fun possibilities
A thought occurs to me: What does NiPhox want with the OLD_DATA?
Okay I know I just posted another comment about my OC Scrybe but I also had to mention
I absolutely love the Mycologists and have also been thinking about what kind of system they'd have as a standalone Scrybe
I've done a ton of worldbuilding with input from others if you're curious!
That's super cool!
first of all, i generally think you nailed the design of everything. really fresh and cool style.
i have a few ideas you might be interested in.
1 you /could/ make your elementals all different. maybe something like...
- earth: 0/2
- fire: 0/1 sharp quills
- water: 0/1 sprinter (or stinky maybe? submerge would be way too powerful)
- air: 0/1 mighty leap (or sprinter if you change water's sigil)
these are stronger than other scrybe's main decks. but you could probably compensate by making them generally weaker / more expensive than other scrybes, the same way p03 does. its already quite challenging because you need four different types of mana.
2 heres some elemental change suggestions:
- colossus: earth+water (whales etc)
- iron biosynth: earth+fire (smelting)
- noxicrawler/toxicrawler: fire+earth (hes low to the ground, i do like the fire/water choice tho, maybe this is your first three element synth? you only need four three element synths to have all combos)
- panopticoid: fire+water (its in a vat and fire makes light which lets you see)
- smokestack: fire+air, maybe add stinky sigil
i know this leaves some gaps in the pairings, but you can always add more cards for those combos ;)
3 id suggest adding some cards that consume one element but produce a different element. maybe poisonous stuff consumes fire but produces earth. this changes the deck building from focusing on one element to something else im not quite sure the implications of this to be honest.
- mercury: metalic, fluid, etc. opposite of salt.
ideas for assigning these new primes to the cards you have:
SULPHER
- sulpher b: sulpher, obviously. dont feel the other elements fit here so this would be a single.
SULPHER AND MERCURY
- injectors (chem b, stim b): sulpher for the reactive chemical, + mercury for the early (and obviously failed) attempts at elixers of life.
- toxics (noxicrawler, toxicrawler, smokestack): sulpher which is found in toxic places +mercury which is toxic. smokestack can just be sulpher i think.
MERCURY
- mutagenics (blank s, clay g, muto s): definitely mercury. probably not salt which is kind of the opposite of these.
SALT AND MERCURY
- aquatic b: salt for oceans + mercury for fluids.
SALT
- structurals (aether gate, colossus, shelldigger): salt. definitely NOT mercury, though aethergate might be cool with mercury.
SALT AND SULPHER
- homonculus: i feel like salt+sulpher is the best fit for it.
NOT SURE
- apex b: really this one could be any combination of 2, maybe all 3 like in your original design for it.
Niphox seems like an interesting fella- rather curious about their tool of choice with which they create their cards with (maybe an alchemy set or a mortar?) love their design- wondering about what Niphox's personality and goals could be ^^
And I just gotta give you credit for the resource mechanism you came up with, I've been racking my brain over one for my own scrybe and you have given me something to think about- this was a really good refresher on what to look out for! So thanks! :D
I did say a fountain pen in the video but... well, frankly I glossed over quite a lot of design elements or didn't give them a huge amount of thought cause I didn't think nearly as many people would care lol
Since I put out this video I've been thinking of some kind of crusher or printing press style thing which stamps creatures into cards.
I want a Nyphox mod 😢 Let’s wait
This is such a cool idea, if there was a mod of this i would play it.
Now I wanna make my own Scrybe.
Well, this is a wonderful video to find out fan-scribes are a thing.
Well, now I want this in game.
Targer of video succeeded.
This could be it's own game
i had a similar idea like this one, however it instead of points being generated, you needed to fuse elementals instead to make cards instead of already having them in a main deck, the basic elementals would have their own stats too but they would only last a few turns before disappearing if not fused, it also focuses on mythology instead of science fiction, their would also be a "recipe book" for all the cards incase you couldn't remember
Ooh I do like this idea...
@@Carpengizmat thank you
@@Carpengizmat seems that elements are up for grabs again
As a lot of people you forgot about one theme: the extra game theme
Name: Inian
Domain: Stories / Fantasies / Tales by the Mouth
Tool: Notepad and Pen (the pen is actually a claw of a dragon)
Description: An angelic being that never shows their face for fear of driving others insane, Inian is a fan of fictional works to the point where the works seem to come to life in the scrybe's presence.
Scrybe battle:
Act 2-Style Phase 1: Inian will start off by making and playing copies of the cards you play to stall you while it does some special work.
Sifd would be a hidden scrybe,
Do you think you could put the cards on a google doc/word document/ stick em on your discord? I have a homemade physical Inscryption game, and would love to add your cards.
Give me a nudge on the discord if you're still interested!
