Hey Kevin, I think I’m finally caught up on watching all the LSO videos. Thanks for putting out all the high quality content you do!
I saw “KDSS Reset” on your to-do list. If this is referring to opening the valves and lifting a side to reduce the lean, skip that procedure. The only way to fix the lean long term is to either shim the low side coil, or install a shorter coil on the tall side. The valving in the KDSS lines will eventually ensure even pressure throughout the system, negating the reset done by opening the valves. Hope this saves you some time and frustration! Cheers!
Love the honesty! It’s not a show truck and that’s ok. ❤
Looking for the gear I mentioned? Here ya go: overlandstyle.com
Owned and operated by US! (No more sending you off to mega corps.)
More coming soon...
Congratulations on the new member of your team.
When you undid the exhaust and the dirt came down on the camera, I squinted my eyes and turned away. Ha! You should warn us when we need safety glasses!
Watching the shop videos is actually almost more neat to me than the adventure videos. The fact it's almost ASMR has nothing to do with it 😅
First, great video. One thing I’ve learned over the years is to use anti-seize wherever I can. Especially on those exhaust fittings/hardware.
Congratulations on the baby.Nice content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
For those running into problems with these switches not indexing when activated, try wrapping a layer or two of electrical tape around the body/tabs. That helps seat them snuggly in place. I ended up replacing all of mine with a switch board and it helped clean up the engine bay by removing all the extra cables and relays. GX Bob has a pretty good video showing how to install one if you're interested.
Loved this episode! Good to see some behind the scenes wrenching on the rig! Sad to see the Tennessee plates replaced by Utah but wide open spaces right? What is the Flowmaster cat back system and the muffler model?
That dang muffler shot made me blink when the dirt fell, good one!! :D
Hi Kevin, good morning sir. I really enjoy the garage videos. You do an amazing job at producing them as well. PS the Switch Pros work really well, I think you you would likely say “why did I wait so long” :) congratulations to you both on the new family edition.
Glad you enjoyed it! I agree, Switch Pros are awesome. I moved the one on the GX to the 45 and it's been solid. Simple install too!
Hen's teeth! Very Tennessee of you!
Got a lot stuff done there Kevin.👍
Love these type of videos!!
basically from 17:00 on i was squinting my eyes to not get rust/dust in them. haha
Virtual reality 😬🤣
Kev, did you sort out your canvas for the trakka pop top? I may have mention when you first had your issue, Trakka is just down the road from me if you would like me to look into it for you?
How many miles do you have on the 4runner now?
i guess im a bit behind, probably because im not a patreon member (im starting a new job soon and will have extra money to do that!) did you guys get a house as a home base? is that the long term plan? love these shop videos.
😍
👏👍🇵🇭
Those valve stems are in a bad place, easy for mud etc. To break then off.
Some wheels are better than others. These have survived 9 years and almost 200k of mostly offroad travel. Fingers crossed they keep on keeping on. The Fuel wheels on the GX are terrible with placement. I've got a new device I carry as a backup though... more to come on that.
Omg she is just cute
COngrats on the new member!
Lots of really useful information and tips in this one... my head is full of ideas! Great to see some more behind the scenes stuff!
Thanks for sitting up with us in your wee morning hours over there! Always a pleasure!
Nice work on the fab with the fog light mounts 👍
Excited to see Aspen as the family rig. Currently slowly building our GX out.
There is always something to do, and always something to do over (hopefully because you've learned something)!
It's a non-stop process! And we never stop learning!
DeWalt Man! Mee too
👍👍👍👍👍😀
👍👍
I have those switches and found that if you trim the underside of the button, you won’t have that intermittent problem. It seams like when they are pushed in the dash, the hit something and doesn’t allow the button to latch. I just used a razor knife and trimmed about 1/16 off the underside. Hope it helps
This. There’s a small rib molded into the hole in the dash that prevents the buttons from latching. A chisel-style x-acto knife makes quick work of the rib and makes the button latching reliable like it is outside of the dash. Cheers!
With all the lights/electrical you have on the roof, do you have a hole in the roof somewhere? Do you run it down the back liftgate through the walls or down the front window? I am looking to put chase lights on mine and trying to figure out how I want to wire them. My front light bar wire just sits between the A pillar and the window.
Slightly off topic for this video, but I saw the other day on your website that you've stopped using Gaia mapping software. The message (which I can't find now, so maybe you removed it??) talked about changes to the Gaia software and "data security" issues. I've used (and continue to use) OnX Offroad, but I was going to give Gaia GPS a try because it's cheaper, has more features, and is widely accepted in the hiking/overlanding communities. I'd like to know more about the specifics regarding why you moved on from Gaia so maybe more explanation on your website or a video about what you've found out recently in terms of Gaia's software & security "issues" because this is the first I've heard of any recent Gaia GPS problems. Thanks!
Hey! I’ve been trying to figure out what kind of radio/head unit you have in Silver. Can’t find it in your gear lists…. Care to share?
Have you ever had vibration issues out of your SCS wheels?
what are the dimensions of the air hose you are using? inner and outer diameters?
I can give you my auxbeam 6 button 50$
Got a link to that exhaust wrap sleeve?
Yep! amzn.to/3mEVv23
used the same stuff on mine (black version) and secured with stainless steel zip ties
Link to the saw?
Ha! thanks for the rear window wiper detail! Same problem has been bugging my wife's 4Runner for weeks and I havnt gotten around to looking at it. I figured it might be a fuse or something, but low and behold...it was cracked down 1/2" from the top just like yours! Rolled it up all the way and fixed!
I figured someone needed to hear that! Glad it helped! 🤣
Cool to watch a garage episode once in a while! I have the squadron lights on my 4Runner as well, and they rule. My UCAs are from Dirt King Fabrication, and they have grease zerks on the joints as well. I greased them a while back, and after doing so, I read that you're supposed to loosen the bolt first to avoid damaging the bushings. I assume it's the same with other similar joints like on your UCAs. I had the same issue with the rear windshield wiper not working a couple of years ago, and also consulted the almighty 4Runner forums. I got the exact same response - suggesting the window wasn't all the way up. As soon as I lowered the window and closed it again, the problem was fixed 😀
These bushings have grease channels cut into them so there's no need to loosen them like all the others. I believe JBA holds the patent on that design. 👍
Really enjoyed the “behind the scenes” of Silver. Interested though in how you ran the electrical for Aspen with the Redarc system to include the roof port and multi-pin junction.
Big brother, I think you forgot to install the new muffler bearing. Great job. Please don't ever stop posting these great family videos
"Trying to get out of the snow"...and failing it would appear. 😄 Also, I love seeing the kiddo. 👍
Seen your NSW number plate on the shelf, did that come with the troopy?
Nicely done 😀 looks good! Drive safe out there!
I really enjoyed this episode Kevin.
Is there going to be parts list for that 4way inflator?
Should film a garage tour
Kevin, why are the roads in Utah so salty?
Because of the Great Salt Lake and Bonneville Salt Flats 😜
I can’t wait to hear that exhaust note on the trail. Great mods!
Dewalt is a USA company, Milwaukee is Chinese.... go team yellow!
I've been using them ever since my dad got their 12v drill about 25 years ago.
