    Hi friends!
    In today's video I want to return to drawing three-dimensional shapes. Following some of the questions from the previous video, I wanted to focus this time on one shape - the cube.
    In this video I'll elaborate on how to draw the cube from many angles, then we'll talk about adding light and shadow to the cube, and finally we'll take a look at perspective. I will show you a few useful exercises for applying everything I show in this video.
    TIME-STAMPS:
    02:16 - Intro to the lesson
    02:48 - How to draw a cube in multiple angles
    10:28 - Light and shadow
    19:07 - Perspective

    Finally some one has clearly explained the vanishing point and a way to use it while drawing a cube.

    I love love love your basic beginningers cube, perspective, warm ups videos. I have watched a few and you are really super talented in making beginners like me find joy in learning how to do complex things. Like you said the cube n perspective is the basis of alot of drawings and your videos really removed the noise when it comes to starting. Thank you ❤🎉thank you. May God continue to bless your art and your talent.

    Thank you for making these! I spent a majority of my school days in arts classes, but when I dropped art I inadvertently dropped all that training, too. Now that I’ve returned to art, it’s invaluable to have videos like yours. You’re a wonderful instructor.

    Very good to hear the explanations while you explain and draw the objects and shadows. For some reason I have always had trouble understanding perspective, (viewpoint), real shadows and cast shadows. I think where the viewer is in relationship to the object is the tricky part. Gaining the understanding of vanishing point, horizon line, perspective, parallel lines and how they behave is all inherent to understanding this. Thank you for demonstrating and explaining this. Thank you so much for this great tutorial! What other exercises would you recommend for 10 year old kids (beginners)? I’m just about to set up a drawing course so would you say these 3D shape exercises are a good place to start? Or do you have other recommendations? What I liked was your own story as a 10 year old starting out so perhaps you had other great experiences. Thank you so much in advance!

      Thinking in this 3D way is really important for conveying objects accurately.

    Hello there, I have a question, how could I know if improved enough with drawing things like cubes and cylinders and the like and can go to the next part, like drawing anatomy or gestures? Personally I have been stuck with drawing shapes for a while now, and don’t feel comfortable doing anything else, so it’s been kinda demoralizing, tho deep down I want to improve and finally get good at drawing, so yeah an answer would be appreciated

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  3 роки тому

      Good question! To me - if you can draw decent cubes and cylinders from any angle from imagination (and have the perspective look good and correct) - you can start working on more complex things! I hope this helps (:

    Technically, I think the title of this video should be "box" instead of "cube" because in order to draw a cube, there needs to be a way to make sure that all edges are equal in length instead of just arbitrarily making them a certain length...
    I've seen a lot of videos that go over a method for how-to draw a cube in perspective, but no one ever explains why their method is actually correct based on evidence and proof. If you know and are willing to, I'd appreciate it if you could explain this...
