Hi friends!
In today's video I want to return to drawing three-dimensional shapes. Following some of the questions from the previous video, I wanted to focus this time on one shape - the cube.
In this video I'll elaborate on how to draw the cube from many angles, then we'll talk about adding light and shadow to the cube, and finally we'll take a look at perspective. I will show you a few useful exercises for applying everything I show in this video.
TIME-STAMPS:
02:16 - Intro to the lesson
02:48 - How to draw a cube in multiple angles
10:28 - Light and shadow
19:07 - Perspective

Finally some one has clearly explained the vanishing point and a way to use it while drawing a cube.
I love love love your basic beginningers cube, perspective, warm ups videos. I have watched a few and you are really super talented in making beginners like me find joy in learning how to do complex things. Like you said the cube n perspective is the basis of alot of drawings and your videos really removed the noise when it comes to starting. Thank you ❤🎉thank you. May God continue to bless your art and your talent.
Thank you so so much ❤️🙏🏼
Thank you for making these! I spent a majority of my school days in arts classes, but when I dropped art I inadvertently dropped all that training, too. Now that I’ve returned to art, it’s invaluable to have videos like yours. You’re a wonderful instructor.
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 Very happy I can help!
Hi Liron. You are an awesome instructor. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series; especially on shading in perspective. Thank you.
Fabulous. Such clear explanations. For the first time ever I feel I'm starting to understand and feel less fearful around perspective drawing and shading!
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 I’m very happy to hear!
I taught people how to ride/train horses all my life. You are an extremely gifted teacher- a rare quality
Wow thank you so much 😊 I hope to make the best out of this ability 🙏🏼
I've learned a lot in 35mins! You're such an extremely good and very articulate teacher!
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 I really appreciate you watching, and the kind words!
Me too ;-) I learn english too with this teacher ... Great Talent ;-) One picture value 1,000 words ...
That was a great explanation on the variations on the perspective lines above the horizon line. Thank you! Well done Liron!
So happy to hear! (:
Thank you, much appreciated.
EXCELLENT as I have had SO much difficulty with these concepts & you made it understandable for me (still need more & more practice but at least I have 'seen the light'!!)
That's amazing!
I'm so happy to hear ^_^
Keep me posted on your progress
Yeah its clearer then most vids on youtube thanks!
Thank you 🙏 😁 Happy this helps, more on the way
This is what I’ve been searching for a good teacher who explains cubes lines shadows. In a very explicit simplistic way,
Love the video man. I'm well into my 30's and just picked up a pencil this week to start drawing and exercises like this are fun and so helpful.
So happy this was helpful! ^_^
I'm planning on doing more of these in the future.
Thank you (:
A great and such a useful video!! The way you explain everything is magnificent!! Thank you soooo much again. I will practise this and the cylinder. You are a great teacher who makes things much easier to understand. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge.
Thank you 😊 Really happy I can help
Very good to hear the explanations while you explain and draw the objects and shadows. For some reason I have always had trouble understanding perspective, (viewpoint), real shadows and cast shadows. I think where the viewer is in relationship to the object is the tricky part. Gaining the understanding of vanishing point, horizon line, perspective, parallel lines and how they behave is all inherent to understanding this. Thank you for demonstrating and explaining this. Being
Thank you so much! Very easy to follow along with you as you instruct!
Liron, this is so helpful. You are an excellent teacher. Love your videos. Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼
Thanks man, just what I need.
What an awesome video, you are good with technical drawing to explain the basics. It has been a pleasure to watch you even if it was considered a long video.
So happy to hear, thank you 😊🙏🏼
I already understood this but I wanted to hear you explain it . very good explanation. appreciate you. your videos are super helpful with my watercolor journey.
Great work mate! You make it very easy to understand. Thanks.
Thank you so much. This is very useful, clear and to the point. You are a very good teacher
I followed the whole time, great way to explain. Thanks for sharing.
Great videos. Easy and clear explanations. Thank you!
So happy to hear, thank you!😊🙏🏼
This is a fantastic lesson and practice for a beginner. I am learning a lot! Thank you!
So happy to hear, thank you 😊🙏🏼
You make simple, simple. And easy to follow. No need to make excuses for your free-handedness. It challenges me to do more, and eventually better.
So happy to hear, thank you (:
i love this!! good job
Thank you for making it simple and easy to understand
You are so good at teaching art. You do it better than my art teacher. This deserves a subscribe!!!!
Explained very perfectly...thanks.
Yes very clear, well explained thanks, I learned quite a bit here..It looks easy but .yip. Thanks.
LIRON you made this so VERY understandable - if fact I have saved this video for reference! Thank you 🙏👌✌️👍
Amazing, so happy to hear! 😊🙏🏼
Off to practice! Thanks
Thank you very much it’s very helpful video
great greatttt video !!!
Thank very much for this video, you are fabulous teacher ;-)
Great video... you have renewed my interest in learning to draw. Can you tell us a bit about how you hold your pencil:) I still can't draw a straight line. Thanks so much for your vids and patients.
Very good tutorial. Thank you
It is really clear and easy to understand. Great Video
Happy yo hear, thank you ^_^
Very clear. Transparent shapes tend to flip around on me & being able to find/draw the “invisible “ lines might stop that
I’m happy this helps, thank you 🙏🏼😊
Thank you so much! I’m struggling with the transition of the cubes but its nothing trial and error won’t fix!
Very clear
Great video...very clear and great examples.
Thank you ^_^
Happy to hear!
Thanks for the helpful video.
My pleasure 😇 Happy I can help. Thank you!
Super cool stuff ..I'm learning to sketch as a beginner and your channel is what I'm gonna be using, thnx.
So happy to hear, thank you (:
Liron Yanconsky 🤘
WOW I have a bit of brain strain but I think I'm following you, I have subscribed because in two videos I've learned loads, Thank You Liron
Haha allow it some time to sink 😉✏️
Happy I could help! 😊🙏🏼 Thank you
Thank You !
nice content thanks for sharing my full support of your channel .
This was great! Question: does the placement of the vanishing point depend upon where the horizon line is located!? Also, how do you determine where the horizon line is? That would be a super video!
Great instructional video. Would definitely love to see a more detailed video on perspective.
Thank you, will do more of these! (:
Very good teacher!
Very good it's good refreshing for me
Thank you. I really like your drawing class, its not so fast that I can't follow your instructions being a novice at drawing .
Thank you thank you
Woooow, really well-explained! Thank so much!
But how can I decide where‘s the vanishing point, when I want to view from a other side?
I am just learning and experementing a bit...I tried to place the vanishing point on different sides...right, left, middle and it works.
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! What other exercises would you recommend for 10 year old kids (beginners)? I’m just about to set up a drawing course so would you say these 3D shape exercises are a good place to start? Or do you have other recommendations? What I liked was your own story as a 10 year old starting out so perhaps you had other great experiences. Thank you so much in advance!
These are great to start, for a 10 year old and older!
Thinking in this 3D way is really important for conveying objects accurately.
I would also try the exercises in this video:
ua-cam.com/video/Ub7gsWV92kY/v-deo.html
(it's a little older vid, sorry for the close-up on my face 😂)
I hope it helps, thank you for watching 😊🙏🏼
Can we have some more drawing exercises Thank you
A 10 min video that starts with a singular cube and applies weird double axis rotations to it would be helpful.
It Would be nice to see how your brain vocalizes the rotations of the cube.
Thank you, great idea! I've been doing this as an exercise recently (:
Will try and show a little of it soon
Merci top
How do you keep or draw the transparent shape from flipping in and out?
I would like you to show 3 point perspective tommy Curnutt thank you.
You help me a lot
So happy to hear (: Thank you
"I plan on touching all kinds of shapes"
*Meanwhile in shape world* that's him officer that's the man that touched me and my friends!
thanks sir.
Happy I can help 😊🙏🏼
Hello there, I have a question, how could I know if improved enough with drawing things like cubes and cylinders and the like and can go to the next part, like drawing anatomy or gestures? Personally I have been stuck with drawing shapes for a while now, and don’t feel comfortable doing anything else, so it’s been kinda demoralizing, tho deep down I want to improve and finally get good at drawing, so yeah an answer would be appreciated
Good question! To me - if you can draw decent cubes and cylinders from any angle from imagination (and have the perspective look good and correct) - you can start working on more complex things! I hope this helps (:
How about a perspective rectangular which will turn out to bed like an apartment building home showing backyard and the flat roof is a lounge area
Haha sounds complicated but I can try in a future vid! 😁
Clear as those transparent shapes
Thank you 😁🙏🏼
👍
Every thing 100%
hello liron ive ben wanting to draw i am a kid thank you
if objects is tilted and rotated in different directions that objects also comes in perspective, right?? perspective USED just to show distance of any object or to show different directions also we have to use perspective lines
Yes! There’s a different method for drawing tilted objects (: Will try to make a video on that soon too
@@LironYan ohh, thanks I'll wait😊☺️
expand on the cubes in perspective
Technically, I think the title of this video should be "box" instead of "cube" because in order to draw a cube, there needs to be a way to make sure that all edges are equal in length instead of just arbitrarily making them a certain length...
I've seen a lot of videos that go over a method for how-to draw a cube in perspective, but no one ever explains why their method is actually correct based on evidence and proof. If you know and are willing to, I'd appreciate it if you could explain this...
i can´t draw cubes :c
Rotating squares in perspective is hell for me smh...
