While I feel bad for Belicus and Serena, I also understand Ben's place, as they have threatened to trap Ben as Alien X until he catches up to their backlog, which ranges in the hundreds of thousands. Still some of the best characters in the show despite their limited screen time.

I love omniverse so much (as you can probably tell), and Rook is just the cherry on top. Such an amazing character and an amazing foil to Ben. So much character development from season one, where he was more snappy and by the books. Then, when season two started rolling, he really felt like Ben's best friend. Gotta love him!
He’s cool, but having him replace Gwen and Kevin altogether was too bold of a move. It worked when Kevin replaced Grandpa Max for Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, but this, nah.

As much as I love the UAF trio, I feel like Rook and Ben working together is a nice change of pace for the show in general, as it allows more room for writers to try new things. I don't have the same sense of 'replacement' when I think of Rook, nor do I get that feeling with Kevin in AF 'replacing' Max. It's just the story moving forward, and the writers wanting to play with new characters and personalities. They're still in the show either way, just not as prominent.

And when I saw that Kevin and Gwen were going to be taking a back seat to his new sidekick, I didn't like it. But now Rook is my favorite character. Right up there with Gwen and Ben 10K.
I feel like we'd have a lot more stories like this if more people were able to get over the "wall" that the art style change became. The series has so much good stuff to add to the story of Ben 10 overall that it's just. A massive shame that it got as much backlash as it did for just looking different :/
