I was passed down a cook book called "Great American Favorite Brand Name Cookbook " from my mama. And I have made several that we love. They include, Santa Fe burrito bake, Cashew chicken, Sweet Sour Chicken saute, Mongolian pot, (we like Asian flavors lol), Tortilla Stack Tampico, Chicken a la king, quiche florentine, southwestern egg roll puffs, and many more. We love to eat and I love to cook lol. I get so many ideas from you, your food always looks so yummy!

You can buy bread bowls at Walmart you can also make them out of frozen bread dough. I recommend that once you take the center out you brush it with butter and put it in the oven to Brown a bit so that the soup doesn't run out the bottom.

If you heat up your beans first they will spread a little easier and you can also doctor them up a bit with spices and green chilies, but that enchilada casserole looks delicious! 🤤

For your first casserole, if you want to add a step....take the refried beans out of the can and give them a good stir. They get so compressed in the can, that you actually get more beans out of it, if you stir them. Also, easier to spread.
The chicken pot pie....Oh Lordy! Lol. That reminds me of my Mother's cooking. It's the vegAll, I think. It's good with corn bread mix or just canned biscuits on top too. 😁
Please don't say your kids won't like something if you havent even offered it to them. Parents complain that their kids are so picky and yet, don't offer anything but the same things over and over again. I know kids have strong opinions on what they like and don't like (HAR!), and that can change quickly. Just please at least offer your kids that something a bit different or adventurous. Plus, this time it was pizza...what wouldn't they like about That?!?
Sarah Grant this really is so true. There have been times i haven’t even offered my son something and then my husband will give some to him and he eats it up. You never know!

I do offer them new things all the time and really try to encourage it. They hate sour cream and since the sauce was mainly that I just gave them tacos. It was one of those days that honestly I just didn’t feel like dealing with the temper tantrums that come when they don’t want what I put in front of them.

I agree with this. Every dish I make I give it to my kids and if they don’t like it or don’t want to eat it at all then there not hungry. I have never made separate meals for them.

New subscriber here. I'm loving all your videos, recipes and ideas. I love making homemade Pot pies. I add some Montreal Chicken Seasonings to mine. It takes it to another level! I also add it to my chicken salad and any other chicken recipe ( that doesn't require other seasonings like chicken tacos) but just a suggestion.
If you use your microwave to reheat food a good trick is to turn the microwave on a lower power setting and it will reheat evenly and taste like it was freshly made
For the enchilada casserole, use corn tortillas heat them first, where it’s fried or microwaved wit a little oil and they should be good re heated.
For your first meal, have you tried to heat up the beans add some cheese while it heats up and then add it to it? I know it adds on a dish to clean but could help with spreading it around:)!

I thought the same thing too. for canned refried beans we dice garlic and onion and sautee in oil then add the beans.

omg i have always wanted to make home made chicken pot pie but i was too intimidated bcuz i thought it would be extremely hard but after seeing your version i realize its totally doable now the next step is convincing my 13 yr old son to try chicken pot pie hes such a picky eater lol

I cooked a meal and everyone (including my children) ate the meal. My oldest son liked my vegetable soup but not the cooked carrots. My youngest would eat anything I cooked.

Agreed. Homemade is best and super easy. Even even better if we can get frijoles grown in suchil where my parents are from. The soil just gives them a different flavor

The enchilada casserole would be so much better with corn tortillas fried 1 min on each side! I tried flour once and I hated the taste and how mooshy it was.

It is stupid not to use the recipes and give them because they have already been on television they are already in a cookbook and as long as you give them credit you're not going to get copyrighted or anything! I told you that with the JCPenney United Way cookbook from 1975! I write cookbooks I know what you can and can't do.
Your first recipe would reheat if made with corn tortillas. I cringe when people make anything “enchilada” with flour tortillas.
And I agree with other people commenting about picky eaters. Kids aren’t buying the groceries, we as parents are. We dictate what they try or eat.
When parents say my kid only eats ckn nuggets, I laugh. Well, who is buying all those nuggets?
Shawrae83 okay but what if your kid just won’t eat it? You’d let them go hungry ? That’s shitty parenting in my book to let your kid go hungry. But I mean no ones forcing you to eat something you don’t like so why would you make your kid ? Doesn’t make sense to me 🤣
