I'd like to ask though, how do you get that level of quality lighting? I've recently started test animating but I'm not to happy with my current lighting technique.
could you provide any advice/tips or direct me to a guide to creating similar lighting to this?

It took me a really long time to get to this "level" of lighting. It really depends on the program but i'm assuming you use SFM. I recommend looking up tutorials online for lighting. My lighting is mainly dark blue-ish and sometimes a bit of red/green. And it depends on camera settings as well. i'm not gonna share too much but i hope this helped a little :)
