I have JVM and was debating on getting the 33 or this. I think the Marshall is already on the hairy side and a 33 wouldn't really mesh well. I'm convinced on getting the Hexdrive after seeing this for sure!
That is one versatile OD!! It’ll be fun to add flavor to different amps. I absolutely love the clean boost/clipping potential all in one knob. Better control than a switch. That’s gotta be super dynamic. Great demo Sir!
Hey just curious what is your go to amp right now. Was gassing for the Fortin Hiwatt super Hi. But you have tried every high gain dream amp. Just wanted your feedback. If you had to choose one
@@killertone that evil pumpkin is fucking unparalleled in gain AND clarity.... seeing teemu play through it made me buy EVERY wintersun album!!! I wished they rerecord ALL their shit with the amp
Yo Jason, killer demo! I love how you did the setup and the guitar changes were excellent choices. Shows exactly what this pedal can do. Very cool man.
Would be cool to compare side by side with a couple of classics - SD-1 and TS-9... Just to show how different the Hex Drive is from those (or in some cases similar maybe?).
Great video as always!! I would like to see you compare a few of the pedals that you have and like, the 808 extreme + Grind + Hex drive. Thanks for the great content!
@@killertone Would be great. Especially as I love your tones and use quite similar amps and Guitar (the explorer), personally it would be a great resource. Thanks!
hitting chords just about anything sounds good but what about fast note riffs etc. Is that pick attack and clarity going to be there, etc ? Luv your sounds you come up with, I had bought one of your Kemper packs a while ago and I have to say It has to be the best heavy amp sounds to work with Period !!!! Sick my Brother ! Keep it up.
It still kills! especially the dual Xeons with a 64gb ram and full SSD setup. That's what I have that Mac Pro setup to and even the late 2012 mac mini's with a quad i7 and 16gb of ram and ssd's will perform amazingly well. I'm still a PC guy for many other things, but those macs are ridiculously well built. Plus you have to be a millionaire to buy the new stuff with a solid spec lol
Haha that is my ancient G5 that only keep around because I am too lazy to dump everything off of it on to another drive. I need to get it out of the studio actually!! For what I do in my studio my 2018 MBP does it with ease.
Hi chug master! How do you think the hexdrive will work with a Peavey xxx? I use the grind on my krankenstein+ and Its a perfect match but it doesnt work well with the xxx. I use a ts9 on the xxx now but it only works well in standard tuning and D tuning. Lower it gets muddy with the ts9. Is the hexdrive more like a od808?
@@killertone Thanks man 🤘Would you recomend it or the tight drive for trash metal? I live in sweden so Its hard for me to test them before buying so you are the only safe person to ask🤘
Odd question. As you share your dialed settings, I never hear any noise. I'm assuming you're running a gate of some kind. What does that pedal sound like if you don't take out all the noise? I'm basically asking about the noise level is. I have pedal that can get crazy tone, but the noise makes them unusable.
Not using a gate I just edited the audio. Depends on how you have the pedal set. In a more clean boost mode it is pretty quiet. If you add clipping it gets a little more noisy. That being said, it is not very noisy at all.
Does the digital version (the one found in Fortin plugins) work the same as the real thing? I was thinking about getting a 33 for my actual amp but this seems like a cool alternative. Thanks!
Hi Max, the ACS doesn't switch or match or manage the different cab impedances. in case you want to use cabs witch mixed impedance, this can done safely for the amp . hit me up if you want to know how to set up such combinations :) cheers, Markus / KHE Audio
Let's be honest here.... Can the man play?... yes.... Does the fortin pedal and amps sound amazing?.....yes.... but we all know the tone comes from the badass Ace poster, the marshall mini fridge and the SLAYER sticker on the monitor. Those are the tone secrets people.
Sounds kickass!
Ola! Are you having coffee with Rob Arnold anytime soon? 😁
I really like the way it sounded through the Marshall. Seems like a sick Overdrive.
I have JVM and was debating on getting the 33 or this. I think the Marshall is already on the hairy side and a 33 wouldn't really mesh well. I'm convinced on getting the Hexdrive after seeing this for sure!
you know you have a good channel when Ola and Circle of Tone show up here with positive comments \m/ \m/
I'm a boogie fan but that Marshall sounds so organic and cuts through the mix sounding much fuller

Thanks for all the awesome comments, everyone! Just want to add that what you are hearing has NO POST EQ ADDED. Just the guitar, amp, cab, and mic.

Wow. That thing brings the tone to a whole new level. 2204 gone modern metal!
That’s the sickest tone jcm800 plus hex drive!! I’m sold!! Great vid
Damn! Tele has some sweet spots where that Hexdrive shines too!
Got a fortin 33 and getting the hexdrive tomorrow 🤘🏻
When I played the HOB in Las Vegas we had to use JCM's as the back line. I used a TS mini and OCD and it sounded incredible.
Killer pedal as usual. I run my 33 into a GT-OD in front of my Thrasher for the same type of effect. Nice demo!!
Killer!
Really cool feature with the tone knob, seems very usefull!
I like this Hexdrive pedal, your good ever Jas.
The Marshall sounds the best... period. Love my JCM 800 + Hexdrive. Great video dude!
Just ordered this...can’t wait
That sound's great with the jcm 800.
Your channel name is definitely well suited, I can't think of any of your videos without an Insane Tone
Thanks dude!
Love your channel. Highly underrated. First video i member seeing is NYHC boost comparison. Thank you!
The roar that the boogies lets out at 10:18 is fucking sexy.
HOLY SHIT ! That pedal really tightens up the tone .... especially on the Mesa with the mids cranked 🤘great video man , keep em coming.
Thank you sir!
Awesome. Great demo.

Thanks, man! I tried to cover all the bases without making the video 30 minutes haha!
killertonetexas well you hit it out of the park. Quick and straight to the point. I wish more people would do reviews like this.
Sounds great, great playing dude.

Really well done demo (as usual) and great playing too.
Thanks a lot!
Love the Fortin stuff..have 3 of his pedals...you put out cool vids...I so want your Pumpkin amp..subbed..rock on dude..\m/
Thanks man!
looks like 5mm leds are used for clipping section, as they tend to add clear boost until the full gain position
Dude, I seem to love every one of your videos. You could not have picked a better name for your channel. Killer tone in every video. \,,/
Thanks!
sounds mean as FK with the rev F. love it.
Great play through and review. Kick ass pedal! Keep up the killer videos!
Fantastic video as usual! Thank you! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Hell yeah Jason! Bad ass demo man that shows off the pedal well. Gonna show some more Texas boys this bro. COLD BEER!!
thanks man and . have a cold one for me!
Besides the Airis FX Savage Drive, Im dying to get my hands on this.
Sick licks on the Tele, bro... love the vids. I just got a sweet new powerhouse PC. My vids are turning out better. Keep it up....
sounds HUGE through the marshall.
Coool, thanks for the demo (I'm running the 2204, too 💗🤘🏽). Is the intro track available?; love to hear a full version. Peace
It's not a full on song, just a little riff set to drums and bass
For a JCM800 would you suggest this or the savage drive?
Badass brother! I'm really wondering how this pedal would sound in the Randall rd100!
Great video as always!! I would like to see you compare a few of the pedals that you have and like, the 808 extreme + Grind + Hex drive. Thanks for the great content!
