I used the R-3 black mot for many years, it also has a timer and spot meter lock, The eye finder closer is for saving the battery.. My prime lens was the 2.8 24mm, I shot 100's of rolls with it..
Great overview! It is worth noting that the black versions of the camera are less expensive compared to the more collectible Safari edition that you have. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get an R3 or a Leicaflex SL.
Nice presentation and funny beginning. Does anybody knows what is the 4 digit at the top of the viewfinder, mine is A108, Moreover any idea of olivine color reference ? My best
Hi, I have the same camera in black edition, so I was thinking that my camera was broken somehow you said that if the batteries are not working maybe the shutter either. So when I take a photo the shutter doesn’t move at all. Do you think it’s battery problems? I did the battery check and they are not working.
SOPHIE CELIM CUADRA RISSO Yes, there is a good chance new batteries are what you need. On that camera I found that often the shutter doesn’t even open even though it sounds like it is working when the batteries are dead.
@@davehanner360 My camera is actually doing the same thing. I got new batteries and still nothing with the shutter. I must note i don't have a lens for it. Do you think not having a lens on would be the issue? Could you test your camera without a lens to see if the shutter moves at all? Thank you!
There is also a 90mm f2.8 in green.. In fact the set is, 50mm,90mm, the body and pare of 10x25 binoculars, all in green.. That was the boxed set.. There is a photo of Jane Goodall holding the Leica 10x25 green binoculars..
@@waltherziemerink, electronic and main body but shutter is design by leica with Copal company and details are stonger design by Leica so the result is great :-)
@@waltherziemerink Only the body chassis and some electronics are the same whit Minolta. The R3 was different mirror box and different mirror, different meter (Two mettering system) Minolta only have one, Different focusing screen and Optical pentaprism mount assembly , two more electronics boards mount in vertical position inside the pentaprim cover and different shutter too. So it´s Leica building quality!

Curious!
I thought it was just standard black, until you pointed it out as "Green"!

Try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera. With age they can become dirty.
Safari means, that the lens is ALSO in green! Otherwise it is NOT a really Safari Set!

first things first - leica M are not SLRs... not everyone wants a rangefinder.
