I saw the original Locomotion Motion Bachmann critique vid. To be honest, Bachmann's reaction comes across as a hissy fit. And, as you say, it sets a nasty precedent.
Nice video Craig. I think for your elevated section you'd be better off with a sheet of foam board from the Range for a few quid, easier to work with / glue / make stronger than the polystyrene & work with the Metcalfes. With the locomotion video. Behind the Jerry Sadowitch style delivery ,he did make some very sharp points about the launch. The opening sequence in the repair shop was a clear dig at Accurascale. There's obviously no love lost there since Steve Purves made the switch & a clear not liking the newbie treading on their toes. When Hornby launched its TT120 , Bachmanns video making a clear reference by including the Thomas the tank range as if to say we only won't be bothering as we already make a toy train range. Incurring being blocked by the manufacturers on social media is something I can vouch for. I can more than cope. With Bachmann well I guess the carefully cultivated image / brand they've crafted since 1990 is something they can't have being lampooned., After all in the USA Bachmann was always the poor relation to Athearn /Walthers, noted for poor quality - cheap motors & not so great build. Doesn't quite sit well with its image in the the UK of being the market leading hi quality brand producing Rolls Royce models at Rolls Royce prices.
To be honest, I went and looked up Bachman’s website after Locomotion Motions first video. If I’d seen the second one first I’d not have bothered. And I peed myself laughing too😁👍🏼
Hi, The Bachmann thing. Like you it leaves an uneasy feeling the idea that public reviews can be silenced by misusing the copyright process on UA-cam! However that said the original video did poke fun at, gaslight and personally make fun of one of Bachmann's staff. I think this was a mistake and probably what generated the take down request.
I saw both the original and the replacement videos and theres a caption reference to it on the new one. Itll definitely make me think for an ectra second before buying something. Im not going to sell off all my Bachmann stuff in a rage as that'd be the majority of my locos and coaching stock plus a good handful of my wagons lol! But it does serve as a reminder that maybe if theyre caught doing this sort of thing they get a sharp reminder why its not a very good idea. Maybe a piece in the model railway press. I know @Sam'sTrains style might not be to everyone's taste but he's generally honest in his reviews and the Salvage or Scrap videos are interesting too.
you have a nice layout. Mine is rather small too so i have all my points or switches within reach . Using digitrax handles i only use switches with no motors. Makes everything very simple and a bit less expensive too. Just follow that train and change the switch by hand. Works great with dcc too.
There are companies who take customer satisfaction very seriously, i.e the customer is always front and centre, and they embrace good and bad in order to improve their offerings, and others companies (like Bachman) who clearly don’t.
I have very few bachmann locomotives due to various quality control issues. Admittedly, not ALL of their products are bad (rolling stock), just that i have always had a bad run of luck getting a bad product in the end. These days , Rapido , Athearn , Walther's , Hornby and a few other locomotives and rolling stock makers are my game.

If they had a brain, instead of 3 or 4 company's making the same loco, 1 or 2 could be making the same loco in P4 or 3mm/foot scale, or even 5.5mm/foot scale, which would be a nice size I think, and it would be better for everyone involved.
Bachman seem to be doing what a lot of companies do now. I`ve seen this across a couple of other hobbies I have, shutting down or shutting up YT channels,. I guess they don`t have the magazines who rely on their advertising. (and yes, I still buy RM and MR)
Unavoidably ethnic - but that is the general Bachmann attitude to everyone else. They are right, and even if they are wrong, they are still right! - - - - Remote point motors - I've been doing that for years with Hornby solenoids, rather than use that weird little 'hut' that fits over them. A length of 1mm spring-steel wire (often referred to as piano wire) is sufficiently stiff to not need tubing, with a Z bend at one end, and a 90' bend at the other, The z bend goes through the solenoid 'slider' bar, and the other end fits through the tie-bar on the point (made with a hole for the under-board motor rod). It doesn't even need to be exactly in line. If you have a longer run, you can include an 'squared-off' Omega sign, to act as a damper spring. Or, instead of the solenoid, you can use those translucent (ten for a pound - actually about £2.50 each now) servos - intended for lightweight model aircraft - and a 'servo tester' module costing about £3 to control it. With a bit of switchery, one 'tester' can control a lot of servo's - one at a time. A lot of years back, (pre- 2018?) I posted photo's on Monday club on how the solenoid and wire method worked - if you go digging, you will find it again. edited.

bachmann 31 very poor tbh and I would go for Accurascale 31,that's after I bought the Bachmann.
the Bachmann has only 8 wheels that pick up and pick ups where not touching the wheels, cab steps falling off.
I expect a model to be perfect from the box RTR for £169......or it gets returned and I will post my views online....up yours Bachmann....make good models then nobody will complain
@@jimperkins2446 i can see where the frustration comes from, it's incredibly annoying when bits just fall off - it happens all the time, And there's no excuse for it - it's just a consequence of having all the little finer detail parts I suppose
