I had an uncle who was in a MC. He was murdered in prison. There were these bikers who'd show up at my aunt's house from time to time. They were supposed to help out with various things but instead ate all her food and got pissy if she didn't have enough liquor to go around. Then when I was in college there was a bunch of bikers in that town. They were always pricks, and racist as hell. Yeah they had a toy drive at christmas. Great. The rest of the year they made a ton of noise, cut people off in traffic, and started bar fights.

From what I've learned about the military contract for world war 2 was the the Indian motorcycle company followed the military specs to a "T" but Harley Davidson upped the ante by making a larger motorcycle with more horsepower, speed, and a larger engine.
