I think what hit me the most, is Kousei's pained expression as he performs, when he realizes she didn't make it. The way his eyebrows knitted together, after she appears for their final duet.
I had a feeling she was going to die when the ending credits were her looking sad half floating in the water. I was like, "Oh god, no...wait no..." then during their last duet when Kousei was like, "Sayonara" I was like, "Nooo, why are you saying good bye, NO!" and then it faded to the next scene and I was like, wtf T_T...
This song- this scene- haunts me. The way Kaori appears, beaming at Kousei. The way Kousei turns his head away from her, fighting back tears. The look on his face won't leave my head. His scrunched eyebrows and tightened lips. He knows what's going to happen to her. This show has so many dynamic levels and I think I finally understand. Throughout, you're led to believe that Kaori is this sort of sunlight- this star- and Kousei is merely there to support her or to contrast her brightness with his own dullness. Take him accompanying her, for example; he merely supports her and does not stand in the spotlight. But once you've seen this show all the way through, you know- or at least I do- that Kaori was supporting Kousei the entire time. Hell, we already know that she liked him from the start and that her entire reason for learning the violin was spurred on by Kousei's playing. The look on Kaori's face in this scene tells me everything. Regardless of her physical condition, and her prospective future- which at that point, she knew was bleak- she still stands before Kousei, smiling widely, almost in a comforting way. Like a, "hey, maybe this is tough, but that's alright". She's supporting him. His happiness is more important to her than her own condition. She plays for him to lighten his heart in this scene. And she forced him to play onstage which eventually helped him to recover from the trauma of his abuse and his inability to hear what he was playing. She rejuvenated him. This entire show is Kaori saving Kousei, rather than Kousei standing in the shadow of Kaori's beauty. And I think this song illustrates that perfectly- in a few wordless scenes.
finished watching it about 2 weeks ago and I've been sad about the endings since lol A world where Kousei meets Kaori is better than a world where he doesn't. And that is the happiest ending we can get.

@@mn-yg9og This is one of Chopin's saddest pieces. It's a reflection of Chopin's loneliness during the war years. Another remarkable element of this piece is that although written in the Romantic era, the piece is written in a sonata form. It's terrifying, bone-chilling, and sorrowful, with sprinkles of joy. Honestly, Chopin was an eccentric pianist, but it's one of my favorite pieces to play.
4:28 is my favorite part...I've listened to this song many times and when the violin came in it made me want to cry (well, I cried a few times in the end) but this was a perfect song to end the season with.
2:00 and 7:11 are my favorite parts first one gives me hope that kaori will survive and the second one got me devastated that i knew that surgery failed and kaori died :(
I love how the violin and the piano sound together. Without one the other is incomplete. Like a pen with no ink, or a honey bee without its pollen. But put them together they can do things out of our imagination. Make us feel sadness, joy, love, peace, wrath. Give us memories we never had, make us cry without knowing why, make us feel like anything is possible. It's beautiful.
what are you talking about? the violin part was slapped on there for the show. it's not part of the actual song. emotionally the scene works cause of the story, but looking at the song by itself the violin part completely overwhelms the song. they don't go together at all.
dude thanks for this you know how hard it is to find this song in such good quality it is my favorite gives me chills everytime the violin jumps in but yes thank you
This one anime broke me, so hard. Broke me like a kid breaking a glo stick, broke me like bane breaking batmans back, broke me like the crack in the liberty bell, broke tf out of me
the most beautiful anime I have EVER seen and the most captivating, audience drawing anime I've seen too.... had me in tears practically through the whole thing... the ending was so powerful and the director of this and composer did an amazing job luring the audience with such superb artistic metaphor.
I’m gonna be honest. This one of the few anime’s that scares me and I will admit half way I was scared to watch it but I pressed on anyway since I felt like I needed to even though I had a idea it wouldn’t end in my favor. Now it’s the first anime to make me cry and now I can’t hear a piano or violin the same again. I’m good, but this anime will be very special to me as being very scary and sad.
Tbh. . .I first heard this song in The Pianist, that film about the Jewish guy hiding out in different places during WW II. When I heard it in this anime, WOW. I CRY😭
I mean. . .I cried in The Pianist BUT I CRY EVEN MORE & I JUST IMAGINE THAT SCENE. & THE LOOK ON KOUSEI'S FACE WHEN HE REALIZES THAT SHE'S GONE, AGHGGKAHDLDIJA NOOOOO😭😭
I’ve always loved playing the piano. But now, I don’t think I’ll play it the same. This anime tore me apart. It’s not Kaori passing that did so. Or Kousei saying goodbye. For me, it’s the fact that they’ll never play together again. Their songs were beautiful. Every one nearly brought me to tears. I’d do almost anything to see these two play in person. Kousei gently striking each key, as Kaori dances about the stage, sliding a bow across the strings of her lovely violin.
I think it's a miracle that Kousei is alive in the last episode of Your Lie in April. If I was at the point of being in love with a girl that Kousei was at with regards to Kaori, and that girl died, I probably would have killed myself or simply went insane. So it's a miracle he was able to recover and live on in the last episode. The fact that the producers chose not to show how he managed to move on from Kaori's death is a lesson to us all: we are not going to show you this process because we are not going to pretend that there is some sort of magic recipe for dealing with immense pain. We all have to make our own journeys through it. But if Kousei can do it, so can you.
Indeed, indeed it is. If that was a thing with me and I had known (or later got to know) that said girl saw me as someone she liked (whether it'd be in a romantic way, a platonic way or such doesn't matter) or would see me of someone that she would care about it if I died the only and I really do mean ONLY thing that would've stopped me from committing suicide would be the thought of the fact that "That's not what she would've wanted you to do." which is honestly a bit of a "guilt-trip" thing to me but whatever, that's completely besides the point.
this is truly one of the saddest pieces i have ever heard and down right one of the best in my book it truly brings out the joy and sadness that is found in life hence what the show "Your lie in april" is conveying. it shows that message perfectly with it's mixture of high and low part in the song and truly a great piece over all
My friend said me "i cried at your lie in april's end" And i said him "i never cried for a movie or an anime and i won't" But now i understand that *i lied*
i still burst into tears every time i see his face looking at her knowing whats going too happen when the song ends. but i am so glad she finaly told him how she felt. this made me think, if only we all said how we really feel then maybe we could find that love they share for eachother before it was too late. Like it was for them......
Batman Cancer When I watched the episode and I heard the violin tears were rolling from my eyes. Not beacuse of sadness( later obviously yes) but in that moment the music reached my soul.
I was so shook, I have never cried so hard in my life. Especially for an anime that was only one season...probably one of the most saddest anime existing
This is by far my favorite anime. It has so much character development and the story telling is outstanding. Each character is so unique and perfect. And not to mention the staggering amount of people this anime has effected. Such beauty in this journey, its hard not to get caught up in your feelings. And lastly the music itself is so magnificent its haunting, calming, and ecstatic all at the same time.
I tried my best to learn this song during the summer when ever i would visit my grandma at my childhood home. We sold it not too long ago and moved my grandma somewhere where someone will be there to take care of her. This song brings me to tears to remember the sunlight creaky old smelling room.
At the very beginning I already started crying. This is the scene when he's playing to keep her alive. It's sad. But I actually started crying when the violin came on. The scene keeps repeating in my head...
Wow, the entrance of the violin at 4:29 is so beautiful! I can never get over it and the scene of Kaori playing the violin with Kousei is so powerful, it makes me so emotional.
Literally I'm crying horrible, remembering the last goodbye between them with this beautiful song. I know very well that we all agree that this anime is very thoughtful and beautiful, I hope that this anime can reach everyone who sees it and not only watches it, but feels it and lives with all their heart. Beautiful the video and your content. : ")
I love this piece and was amazing in the anime. It's a shame all of these videos keep getting removed from UA-cam... I have no idea why they keep getting taken down, and it's this song only. There is no copyright iirc on this song. I hope this one sticks because of the amazing edit you did. :)
ikr? i get quicksanded every 8 or 9 months into like a 6/7 day marathon over & over in a loop episodes 1 thru the OVA/ep.:23 then as Kaori said to Kousei on stage after stopping.."AGAIN!!!" , and I'm off to the races as the one cool judge might say, hey the episode stopped oooooo it's time for Kousei to be the sensei!!! gotta go l8rs
To be Honest I heard spoilers about Kaori passing away and even though I knew I just could not hold back the tears. This Anime is so good the way it protrayed the sotry as if nothing was going to happen, they would stay together forever never leaving each other, playing together and maybe even end up marrying. To those who did not find out about Kaori leaving or it being a sad anime I think some of you thought nothing was going to happen. I listen to this song so much it is so good. Thank you to Lone Guitar for editing the voices out
We already know Kose won with this one. The only regret I have is not getting to see the applause after Kose's performance. Kose went Super Saiyan God out there and even that wasn't enough to save Kaori.
The violin part is such a nice addition, it matches so well, and also hit so hard. The moment is came in, I can feel something wrong within me that I can’t describe
In the manga it was written how this performance was a confession. Kousei confessed to Kaori and in the end he did realise that she had died. WOW😢😢😢😢😢😢
I was doing homework while listening to this and at 4:30 when the violin came in i just started sobbing and got tears on my papers so when I turned it in my teacher asked why there was water droplet marks on it and I just hid my face and said "Kaori did it" she looked so confused
I didn’t cry as much as I wanted to with this scene but god did it give me goosebumps like no other. The animation, The crying, the colors, the movement, the god dang music, everything. Even re watching it now I get goosebumps all the way to my face. It’s such a stunning scene- Your Lie in April definitely didn’t make me sob a whole lot, but goodness is it one heck of a swag anime. Probably one of my favorites- the pure emotion I feel put into the song with each song and performance is so incredible.
I'm sorry but how the heck did I comeback to this again after all these years! This piece and scene alone reminds me of everything! Dammit Kaori I really did forget you but you actually haunted me and somehow brought me back to this!
“Did it reach her? I hope it did” I don’t know the actual line but what I know is this anime made me play the piano again and It’s one of the small things that makes me actually happy. So thanks kousei and Kaori lmao
Imagine losing your mom and lose a girl that loved you and you loved right after. He didn't even get to tell her how he really felt. I knew that she was going to die but i just coudn't accept the truth and the letter just made me even more depressed especially the last words of letter. Atleast it was able to reach her.. Im sure kaori would have been a S ranked waifu
the creator wants to change the anime, he didn't want kaori to die but he said that it'll make a true masterpiece if kaori died... so yeah they killed kaori 😭
he did kinda confess in the firefly scene... altho, if I were Kousei and lost my mom and my lover(savior) Kaori twice in a row similarly, i would have ended up insane or suicidal from depression...
Not that anyone cares but I've had chronic depression since I was about 8, so 20 years now. I go manic every once in awhile from build up and this series and music has saved me. Just hearing this lets me get a lot of emotion out. May or may not save me but I break down and bawl just listening to the beauty, specially knowing the association with the story.
Thank you for making this. This has been a piano piece that my father played since I was a child and I've always wanted to do a duet with him on the violin. He just passed so that's not going to be something I will ever be able to do.
Ese momento, cuando empieza el violines como un golpe en el corazón que te da ganas de llorar, fuera de lo triste que sea la historia de anime. La propia música da esa melancolia tan fuerte y desgarradora.
Freaking piano gave me chills towards the end. Thanks for uploading this! By the way, you don't happen to be the same person who uploaded the same song but the with violin in the beginning?
As I watched this scene, I was smiling. I had already guessed that she wouldn’t make it, but the way they broke the news to the audience was absolute perfection. Kousei was the first to know, and that made it more satisfying than any tragic ending I’ve heard of.
Damadafaqing stooge It's part of the piece no doubt, but I'll bet you it was no coincidence that the most intense part of the entire piece begins once Kousei begins to realize that she's about to die. It's almost like Kousei is in denial of her death, and tries to play so hard and so fast as if it could save her life.
Spring will be here soon. Spring, the season I met you is coming. A season without you... is coming.

its not a song btw, its famous and hardest piece. I dont even know why Chopin compose such a stressful piece
@@imcry213 ive heard this one
;-;
4:28 is my favorite part...I've listened to this song many times and when the violin came in it made me want to cry (well, I cried a few times in the end) but this was a perfect song to end the season with.
2:00 and 7:11 are my favorite parts first one gives me hope that kaori will survive and the second one got me devastated that i knew that surgery failed and kaori died :(
1:57 my bad
Azrael Games it broke my heart and I balled my eyes out until I nearly passed out.
Nina Paige yea this is the second anime I ever watched and I couldn't contain myself the feels I'll never forget this anime
Aurora Joi Dickerson me too when the violin start's i fell like i can't hold my tears 💔
Reading the comments making me cry again..
Who else?
Yes that make cry like a Little broken star fall on the Space
I haven't even seen the anime and the comments are making me tear up
I love how the violin and the piano sound together.
This is actually supposed to be a piano solo
+MasterProX I know lol. But personally I think this piece sounds better with violin. But, I love the original as well :)
+MasterProX but u got to agree that violin made this piece so much better...personally when the violin jumps in it really touch the feels train
+MasterProX same, I prefer just piano for this piece. I'm a bit biased, however, as piano is just my favorite instrument in general.
what are you talking about? the violin part was slapped on there for the show. it's not part of the actual song. emotionally the scene works cause of the story, but looking at the song by itself the violin part completely overwhelms the song. they don't go together at all.
Each time I listen to this song, I start to cry. It's so beautiful and sad.
I know, and since I'm a musician I can relate to this. Its so sad but yet so beautiful
everytime the violin starts, I cry my eyes out. :
Marina Laisa me 2 😭🎶😭

Your welcome guys. I just wanted to give something back for a show that was the highlight of my winter/spring.
Lone Guitar OH MY GOD IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS EVERYWHERE! I LOVE YOU MAN.
+Lone Guitar thanks for putting this together. Would be cool if someday somebody arranged a full violin accompaniment to the ballade.
+Lone Guitar Wish you put video as well
dude thanks for this you know how hard it is to find this song in such good quality it is my favorite gives me chills everytime the violin jumps in but yes thank you
But thanks bb
The most touching anime
This one anime broke me, so hard. Broke me like a kid breaking a glo stick, broke me like bane breaking batmans back, broke me like the crack in the liberty bell, broke tf out of me
the most beautiful anime I have EVER seen and the most captivating, audience drawing anime I've seen too.... had me in tears practically through the whole thing... the ending was so powerful and the director of this and composer did an amazing job luring the audience with such superb artistic metaphor.
You should watch "The Pet Girl at Sakurasou"
I’m gonna be honest. This one of the few anime’s that scares me and I will admit half way I was scared to watch it but I pressed on anyway since I felt like I needed to even though I had a idea it wouldn’t end in my favor. Now it’s the first anime to make me cry and now I can’t hear a piano or violin the same again. I’m good, but this anime will be very special to me as being very scary and sad.
Im a guy and I watched this anime once, cried big time, this anime is sad yet happy, this scene made me really cry
Don't feel ashamed just because you feel emotion, every human experiences sadness, there is no problem in that fact, no matter who you are
Brandon Cornejo Assassination Classroom and Your Lie In April are the only anime I have watched that made me cry.
Brandon Cornejo same here man.
Tbh. . .I first heard this song in The Pianist, that film about the Jewish guy hiding out in different places during WW II.
+Aimeewinterfun2 SAME OMG 😭😭😭😭😭
Now I have to rewatch that movie to look out for the song.... *sigh* (sarcastic) Oh well ;)
the pianist version of this song pissed me off. they cut so much out of the song and just butchered the coda which is my favorite part.
Ohh my god.. same with me.. This piece of Chopin now has so much meaning for me.. Sadness and happiness..
The feels are real in the comment section😭😭😭
ehhh
If that was a thing with me and I had known (or later got to know) that said girl saw me as someone she liked (whether it'd be in a romantic way, a platonic way or such doesn't matter) or would see me of someone that she would care about it if I died the only and I really do mean ONLY thing that would've stopped me from committing suicide would be the thought of the fact that "That's not what she would've wanted you to do." which is honestly a bit of a "guilt-trip" thing to me but whatever, that's completely besides the point.
at the end of the day it's a story well written, not reality
"did it reach her ..?"
Yes, yes it did. It must've!
Ayleen Delilah Sigala IT SURE REACHED ME

4:29 *sobs uncontrollably*
this is truly one of the saddest pieces i have ever heard and down right one of the best in my book it truly brings out the joy and sadness that is found in life hence what the show "Your lie in april" is conveying. it shows that message perfectly with it's mixture of high and low part in the song and truly a great piece over all
My friend said me "i cried at your lie in april's end"
And i said him "i never cried for a movie or an anime and i won't"
But now i understand that *i lied*
That was... your only lie.
For those upset that it's not the animated version, the music tells the entire story.
Does anyone else like genuinely feel this song in their heart and chest or is it just me
I love Chopin's pieces!! Now his classical music are my favorite
i still burst into tears every time i see his face looking at her knowing whats going too happen when the song ends. but i am so glad she finaly told him how she felt. this made me think, if only we all said how we really feel then maybe we could find that love they share for eachother before it was too late. Like it was for them......
I won't Forget ......
I won't Forget , Even If I die .....
I can still hear kousei saying ”sayonara” at the end
The moment the violen kicked in was a wonderful experience. My jaw dropped and I stood still as I was caught off guard at the beauty!
The way they structured the scene and his emotions fits this music so beautifully good lord
Another Dreamer With Watercolors i couldn't explained better brotha!
It doesn't matter how many times you listen to the song, but when the violin comes. It hits you soo hard, everytime tears come in my eyes.
4:30 kinda sounded like they were screaming out for eachother. I'm music form. Trippy....sad.
And that second right after where Kaori is like. "Im here..." (I'm getting them Bambi chills tho)
YOU MIND NOT DOING THIS TO ME?
Batman Cancer When I watched the episode and I heard the violin tears were rolling from my eyes. Not beacuse of sadness( later obviously yes) but in that moment the music reached my soul.
I got the chills when the violin came in. Please... help.
remember..
I was so shook, I have never cried so hard in my life. Especially for an anime that was only one season...probably one of the most saddest anime existing
5:50 this part just hits me with an ocean of feelings. Its the last notes she played, I can almost hear a goodbye, it’s a bittersweet sound.
The song becomes so much more lively when the violin (aka Kaori) comes in.... now THATS a metaphor omg
I love the part where Kaori does those little sounds with the violin 5:18 , It's the happiest part of the whole song :,)
The scene keeps repeating in my head...
remember ..
Wow, the entrance of the violin at 4:29 is so beautiful! I can never get over it and the scene of Kaori playing the violin with Kousei is so powerful, it makes me so emotional.
remember
It is still worthy of getting taken down because even though the piece is in public domain, the recording is in fact owned by Sony Music Japan.
its 2am. i am laying in my bed, listening to this, reading the comments, sobbing my heart out.
Props to the pianist for whoever played this song.

*"So I may have lied."*
ikr? i get quicksanded every 8 or 9 months into like a 6/7 day marathon over & over in a loop episodes 1 thru the OVA/ep.:23 then as Kaori said to Kousei on stage after stopping.."AGAIN!!!" , and I'm off to the races as the one cool judge might say, hey the episode stopped oooooo it's time for Kousei to be the sensei!!! gotta go l8rs
I cried like a child
It is really a wonderful and painful anime
I wanted a happy ending
The last 5 mins of the whole series made me weep oceans outta my eyes 😭😭😭😭 and this piece is so heart-wrenching!!

Since 2014, no matter how many times I hear this duet, I’m about to cry

Just hearing this lets me get a lot of emotion out. May or may not save me but I break down and bawl just listening to the beauty, specially knowing the association with the story.
Damn how do you get chronic depression at 8?
Thank you for making this. This has been a piano piece that my father played since I was a child and I've always wanted to do a duet with him on the violin. He just passed so that's not going to be something I will ever be able to do.

As I watched this scene, I was smiling. I had already guessed that she wouldn’t make it, but the way they broke the news to the audience was absolute perfection.
Kousei was the first to know, and that made it more satisfying than any tragic ending I’ve heard of.
It's so sad when he started playing fast because he knew Kaori was going to die 😭
He starts playing fast because the tempo changes from Meno Mosso to Presto Con Fuoco.
Graycie C it's part of the piece
Hyunbae Jeon I think emotion is the exact reason why that ***insert fancy French thingy here*** tempo changed. Sadness and anger.
nope
Damadafaqing stooge It's part of the piece no doubt, but I'll bet you it was no coincidence that the most intense part of the entire piece begins once Kousei begins to realize that she's about to die. It's almost like Kousei is in denial of her death, and tries to play so hard and so fast as if it could save her life.
Seriously the best version there is of this piece.
