Finally, another solid review on the 7th Gen 6-6-Redline and SmokingTire are pretty much the only other ones. The refreshed 7th Gen remains my absolute favorite Honda. I sold my 7th Gen 4Cyl 5MT back in April, but I agree with each of your points about the solid diving feel of these cars-it was perfectly balanced. I now drive a 2014 EX-L V6 with the J35 and it truly feels like the last “classic” Accord.
I have the same car. V6 manual 2006! I love it!! It is fast as hell is and in pretty great condition(some scratches and a tiny bit of lifted paint around the wheel well but nothing severe) It has high miles 290,000-but I got it for $2400 from the original owner who kept it up perfectly and I have every piece of paperwork for everything that was done to it plus the guy put it all on a usb stick too! I found it worth the price imo. I do think I need a new battery and two of the rims have a slight bend which causes a very slow leak on two of the tires, but the guy who sold it to me did give me one brand new rim with it just in case. It has new tires, a bunch of new front end work, and this dude loved this car!! Some people think I paid too much but this car with proper maintenance can probably last another 200,000 miles. It drives far better than my 2018 pimped out Ford focus that has 40,000 miles on it and the ford has had a ton of work lol. I also have a 2007 Honda accord that is a 4 banger (110,000 miles) an automatic but it still is very zippy for a 4 cylinder. I’m starting to get hooked on Honda‘s and these great videos are part of the reason. Thanks for the vid.
I’ve had my Alabaster Silver 06-6-6 for almost a decade. Only mod is an intake resonator delete, it really brings out the engine sound without being offensive. The rev hang isn’t bad once you get used to it. If you turn off the traction control it’s an absolute blast in 2nd - 4th. The transmission is geared to transition to 4,500 rpm from redline of the previous gear to keep the VTEC engaged. Downshifting from 3rd to second is easy, the speedometer matches the tach (50mph = 5,000rpm) Lots of these have issues engaging 3rd gear. Swapping out the trans fluid with some friction modified stuff will remedy that. Keep the oil fresh and the timing belt right and you can run it as hard as you want every day of the week.
8:52 That "Rev Hang" is from a Heavier Flywheel. The s2000 has a light weight flywheel from the factory, and any other manual car with a 4 cyl is going to have a smaller lighter weight flywheel than a V6 has. This is a GOOD thing for non experience drivers, Or Drivers who do not do "spirited" driving and pulls every so often. It helps with a smoother operation of the manual trans, via easier rev matching, As you said, making it more comfortable for the passengers. While maintaining a manual for the driver experience. Luxury Honda things. Very different than your Heavily sports inspired s2000 or whatever.
I actually got one of these used a few years back for $2500 because it had a bad clutch (the previous owner didn’t want to pay the $3000 bill to replace it). Replacing the clutch was one of the first things I had to do. And one thing I can vouch for is that the flywheel is VERY heavy.
I have an 04 V6 and after the auto transmission went out twice, I decided to manual swap it with the 6 speed TL type S LSD transmission. Best decision I've ever made.
The trans in very tricky You really need 3 days with her to learn what she likes you will definitely need to do that. Either way fun vid especially one of my dream cars. Silver 6-6-6 sedan owner all stock. Love the Gold Red v6 badge. Gangster, Awesome car.
If you can, get a 9tn gen accord. They are better in every way. People totally missed the mark when going after the 7tn gens they literally have no idea. It's a complete shame. 9th gen coupe V6 comes stock with ~280hp and with mods the sky is the limit. Also weighs less so better performance overall than these older models
Thank you for the great video. I own a white 2007 Honda sedan manual 6-6 with leather seats, 250,000 miles. Purchases in early 2024 for $5,000 plus $700 service at Honda dealer that included two new tires, and $1,200 for new front bumper and detailing/removal of scratches. Car looks new. I will keep this car until my death. I'm 81 going on 17 in this car.
The only nostalgic thing that this Accord is missing is the rear spoiler. Gold trim package, fog lights and the auto dim mirrors, sunroof wind deflector were dealer add ons and they were cool to see. My mom has a 2003 EX V6 and I love driving it.
Looking at a 2 door 06 6-6 .... For a measly $500... Only problem is a minor front end impact (low speed parking lot new manual driver event) and the interior needs a restoration, not just cleaned but restored.. the driver and rear seats have mold growing.. It was left in a damp garage with the windows down for too long. thinking about taking the plunge and putting the elbow grease into it to save it. 2 owners, ill be the third, Low miles, Very clean car... save for.. the MOOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDD..
I’ve always liked these cars Bern. I was actually looking for one of these back in 2014… it’s pretty rare and hard to find so I “settled” and got a 2009 TSX 6 speed instead. great video 🤓
@gabe H I find mine barely torque steers at all (still the open diff), when its even noticeable. Really the problem with the open diff is when you make a low speed turn and gas it while still turning, it just lights up the inside tire.

Very happy to see a review of this car. Before I bought my 2004 Acura TL 6 speed manual I was looking at a dark blue 6-6 07 accord coupe.. beautiful car but I passed on it because the previous owner didn't take care of it for the price he was asking at 230k miles. My TL just rolled over to 230k and it runs and drives like a new car. I'm still tempted to buy a V6 automatic accord but I'm happy with my 5 cylinder 96 Acura TL just need to take care of the passenger side quarter panel rust that's barely noticeable otherwise it sits at 109k miles and is like a new car. The TL 6 speed manual always got brembos so that's what I always look for to see if a TL is auto or manual but are you sure that 6-6 doesn't have Brembos in the front? I'd say the 6 speed manuals are worth paying for if you can get them for a fair price. I bought my 6 speed TL with 200k on it for 2,100 about two years ago and it was garage kept by the original owner up until the month before I bought it
@@BernonCars I should be grateful that I got mine for 2,100 and my 06 Acura TSX 6 speed manual for 1,200 because just like you said even high mileage ones that were beat to shit people are asking 4k+ even with 320k miles I didn't hesitate to buy the TSX
Sheesh, this takes me back, I test drove an abused one awhile ago and ended up not buying it because I didn't want to deal with the problems the owner was neglecting. I really want to own one someday for some weird reason, I just don't think I will have a reason to buy one anytime soon :( Great video
I remember seeing a 6 speed accord that looks just like this one for sale last decade. Same color. I don’t remember what year it was exactly but I think it was an 06. I wanted to get that car but I never had a driver’s license back then or knew how to drive stick.
@BernonCars now at 100k and I'm still in love! Such an amazing car. Got some tl type s sway bars among other modifications now and it is a bona fide sleeper.
i’m not sure what gen of saturn but there is one with the 3.0 vtec nd instead of being pairs with a 6 speed trans it’s a 5 speed manual super rare but i’ve seen em at my local junk
Part of the reason for these cars feeling ‘torqueless’ is that they are geared very tall. First gear in particular seems like it is taller than it needs to be, which can make it more difficult than a V6 sedan should be to start out on steep hills. On the other hand, sixth gear is actually great on the highway and can quite competently climb most any freeway grade without downshifting. But the lower gears should be shorter. Interestingly, Honda actually went with shorter gearing all around in the 8G and 9G V6 Accords. This is in spite of the fact that these cars got larger 3.5 liter engines with more torque. Regardless, transmission gearing (and braking) is one of the few gripes I have with this car.
Hey Bern! on your GS430....Selena, does your 245 45 18 tires rub at all? And more importantly is it still a comfortable ride with that size tire set up? i have a 1998 lexus GS was wondering because I plan on installing 18'S with same size tires, Soooon
There's one for sale In sacramento. Legit same car and color and stock. He wants 15k for it. Drives like a dang dream I test drove it. I can't even find another one anywhere but a silver coupe 03 for 10k.
@@BernonCars one of the things I would keep original. But yeah everyone has their taste. A red I4 coupe 5 speed I would love to rock that trim. But not a 6-6 The 6-6 sedan was the ultimate sleeper; An SI killer and V6 Mustangs and Cameros kryptonite. It’s the only thing that can kept dads giggling on their way home from work back in the day. And I believe there are less of these that FK8 Type Rs. Also please let’s make it a rule if you kill 6-6 sedan you aren’t allowed back into the platform. I will start hoarding them lol we can’t loose any more.
This is a great car, but it seems like you came across one that wasn’t running at its full capacity. I’ve owned three 6-6’s, stock they would spin tires through 2nd and chirp 3rd. It sounds like the clutch was slipping or maybe just a bad driver
@@BernonCars Lol! I subscribed to you yesterday! I'm blind! So I can't drive, but I like listening to cars! I type with a laptop using a screen reader, I stumbled apon your channel when I found the Tacoma Pov drive!
Typical sagging headliner. Mine is sagging too. The audio system has a tendency to go bad and a good excuse to upgrade. Automatic transmissions on the V6 were also problematic. Better to stick with the manual.
9th gen is faster stock and better with mods. Can't believe people are going after the 7th gen when the 9th gen is superior in literally every way. 9th gen V6 comes stock with around 280HP. Completely missed the mark when going after 7th gens
Of course the 9G is faster. The 7G has hydraulic steering which makes a world of a difference when it comes to road feel though. 9G is one of my dream cars so I'm not hating lol

Legit same car and color and stock. He wants 15k for it. Drives like a dang dream I test drove it. I can't even find another one anywhere but a silver coupe 03 for 10k.
Damnn 15k! That’s insane
The first thing that I noticed in the interior is the incorrect trim. The wood trim is a no no for me has to be dark CF
Yup the owner swapped it out
@@BernonCars one of the things I would keep original. But yeah everyone has their taste.
A red I4 coupe 5 speed I would love to rock that trim.
But not a 6-6
The 6-6 sedan was the ultimate sleeper; An SI killer and V6 Mustangs and Cameros kryptonite. It’s the only thing that can kept dads giggling on their way home from work back in the day. And I believe there are less of these that FK8 Type Rs.
Also please let’s make it a rule
if you kill 6-6 sedan you aren’t allowed back into the platform. I will start hoarding them lol we can’t loose any more.
My 06 V6 Coupe auto have 17'' alloys from factory... Might be different for the 4 door Accord tho...
Yeah they're different!
7:19 is that cubby container stock or custom? I've never seen that on any other trim/model.
I think its from the Hybrid!
@@BernonCars Do you know if it works with the Metra/PAC dash kits?
This is a great car, but it seems like you came across one that wasn’t running at its full capacity. I’ve owned three 6-6’s, stock they would spin tires through 2nd and chirp 3rd. It sounds like the clutch was slipping or maybe just a bad driver
Yeahh.. the clutch pedal was actually sticking on full throttle LOL.
You ain’t laying…
J32 from the TL and the J35a6 swap right in that car if you want more power
Ahhh yes I wanted to swap mine!
@@BernonCars I've got an 07 4cyl sedan. Planning on swapping in the TSX K24a2 into it. It's similarly an easy swap too.
Is the shift knob and boot stock?
The j series are very reliable. Do your timing belt, water pump, and oil changes and the engine will last a very very long time
hahahahahaha! Add one more 6 and you'll be working with the devil! Lmao!
It technically is a cursed car because 2006 V6 6 Speed LOL
@@BernonCars Lol! I subscribed to you yesterday! I'm blind! So I can't drive, but I like listening to cars! I type with a laptop using a screen reader, I stumbled apon your channel when I found the Tacoma Pov drive!
@@kylechellino2579 ohh wow that’s actually really cool! I’ve always wondered how UA-cam works that way. Right on!!
@@BernonCars Hey thanks! A year ago a did a car review of a 2020 Camry, but of course I had help filming
Ohh cool, is it on your channel? I’ll watch!
Typical sagging headliner. Mine is sagging too. The audio system has a tendency to go bad and a good excuse to upgrade. Automatic transmissions on the V6 were also problematic. Better to stick with the manual.
3:45 They saved about $1 per car using a cheap crappy glue to install them. Thats why they all fall.
Who is he trying to lie to them radios are not easy to change 😭😂
Yes they are it's way easier than a lot of cars 🤣
is it a four wheel drive
Nope
@03:29 wait till you sit in a 9th gen or a 10th gen
Honda vehicles have a soul. A lot of Toyota do not. I love you Honda.
I totally agree!
244 hp
Wow your shifting is terrible!
The clutch pedal was sticking to the floor💀😭
